We recently returned from a trip to WDW.
As a Canadian, unless I purchase a data package from my provider at quite a cost, I rely on Disney's WiFi to meet my needs. Most times it works great but I found it quite the challenge at Disney's Hollywood Studios. If I could get a signal, it would drop off frequently. I used to experience similar challenges at other parks but have found WiFi to be much better at MK and Epcot lately. Not sure about AK as I have not visited that park in the past 18 months.
In case others are facing the same challenge I wanted to share a recommendation with you that helped me greatly. I mentioned my challenge to a CM and he recommended that I go closer to a FP+ scanning device to attempt to gain a better WiFi signal. As I was trying check in for our flights for the next day and our boarding pass numbers were reliant on getting in ASAP I decided to give his suggestion a try.
When we neared the FP+ scanner inside The Great Movie Ride my DD and I stepped out of the line and stood away from the line and FP+ queue as I briefly explained to the CM what I was doing. I attempted to login in and sure enough, I was quickly able to get a signal and check us in for our flight. Once that was done my DD and I began to move towards the stand-by queue but the CM asked us to come with him and he moved us into the FP queue and we were next to board the ride!
I hope this little tip is beneficial to others struggling with getting a WiFi signal but even more I hope Disney increases the WiFi signals at Disney's Hollywood Studios since so much of what we do at Disney is aided by the MyDisneyExperience app.
