WOW you girls hit a lot of sights!!
I have always wanted to try Fried Green Tomatoes, especially because I LOVE the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. The soups look awesome, although being from Maryland, the crab cake doesn't look so Maryland style to me! Looks like a GREAT lunch spot though!![]()
Wow! Your pictures of Savannah are amazing! it looks beautiful! I especially love the cathedral!!!
Have a fabulous Thanksgiving!
Another wonderful day - this time in Savannah.
Booze in the streets -unless it is Bourbon street. That place was so narrow that you could not help bumping into "things" and such.

I guess my closet claustrophobia was getting to me, because I felt the Mardi Gras would be nuts.
I have never been to New Orleans, but would certainly love to visit it. I, too, think Mardi Gras would be absolutely insane. I am certain I am much to "old" for that.
I hear Savannah has a "rep" for St Patricks Day.![]()
I completely forgot about that, but you're right. The St Patties day parade in Savannah is second only to the one in NYC. I bet its a fun one and the weather is probably much better than in NYC!
WOW...what an update, MEK. The pictures are terrific, as always. And so much to see and do. You gals sure got an awful lot accomplished. Your lunch looks yummy; and I love all the street entertainment you saw.
Wow! Savannah is beautiful! My SIL was just there recently. Now I know what I'm going to do when we go to HHI!!! (someday...)
Also, notice, we mostly walked. We didn't even really need the trolley. Everything is pretty close. The cathedral is just beautiful!!! Gorgeous!
The lunch looked really good! I like Fried Green Tomatoes - I can get them up here in the North, but usually only at the State Fair!!
)
), you guys saw so much so quickly!
Wow, Savannah really is gorgeous and it looks like so much fun! (And I'm not just saying that because of the take-out alcohol!)
Seriously, I really enjoyed Savannah and will definitely return when Denny and I go back to HHI. There's more I want to see. Your tour looks like it was really interesting (if not a bit rules-y), you guys saw so much so quickly!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!![]()
Same to you Jackie! Knowing you, you are cooking up a storm and have your house decorated perfectly.
Surprisingly, I have not. Actually I am trying really hard to be cheerful today, but Charles said it is coming off as borderline hysterical. Since the alternative is staying in bed all day, I am going to try and just get through everything.
I was cracking up over your snooty tour guide -- she would have made me a nervous wreck -- and you trying to capture some light orbs at the Brewing Company.

I am sure this must be a hard day for you.Surprisingly, I have not. Actually I am trying really hard to be cheerful today, but Charles said it is coming off as borderline hysterical. Since the alternative is staying in bed all day, I am going to try and just get through everything.
Take it one moment at a time. Holidays are weird that way. So many expectations. So many memories. So much flooding in all at once. I am sure you are no where near hysterical, and even if you have some hysteria, its OK!Great pictures of Savannah -- you really captured the charm of it.I was cracking up over your snooty tour guide -- she would have made me a nervous wreck -- and you trying to capture some light orbs at the Brewing Company.

Chelsea and I recently read a book set in Savannah called The Magnolia League that talked about that haint blue. Chelsea now wants to paint her room in that color. She is easily influenced by things she sees and reads -- don't know where she could get that from.![]()

Thanks! It really is a charming city. It's so different from Charleston, yet so attractive and likable in its own unique way.
Oh - that tour guide - I really felt like we were the riff- raff and she was begrudging allowing us to tour. It was odd.![]()
I wanted an Orb so bad. I didn't expect a bottle to come flying off the shelf, just some soft glowing light would have been nice. But I guess the spirits thought I was too anxious!![]()

I have NO idea where she could have gotten that from!![]()
She likes to pretend we have nothing in common these days, but we all know differently.

I know this time of year is going to be hard for you. Try and take the time you need and do what you can do not what you feel you have to do.

I mean, I get it, but it's not that serious.
Thanks, Mary Ellen. I am just trying to take it one minute at a time.![]()
Oh, I meant to say something about those sweetgrass baskets -- I bet they were sky-high since they were in the gift shop. The best place to buy them is right off Hwy. 17 on the way to Boone Hall at those roadside stands -- well, they used to have stands like that -- I don't know if they do anymore or not.
Maybe you just didn't to drink some more and then the orbs would have manifested themselves.![]()

Happy Thanksgiving!

Love all the old architecture, and the little details are so fun! The organ in the cathedral is so gorgeous! Glad L & P were able to convince you to keep going a little longer, you wouldn't have wanted to miss that!
Shame on that tour guide! I have also encountered tour guides who like to wield the wand of power, and it is not a pleasant experience. All we want to do is admire the surroundings, just let us admire!!!
I'm glad you decided to continue with the Savannah as love hearing all about it and seeing all the lovely pics. Though I'm also looking forward to the plans for your December trip.
Wow the cathedral looks beautiful
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family - hope you have a great day and enjoy the long weekend.

Mmmm, a fried green tomato BLT sounds really good!
You guys definitely hit a lot of great sights. I think it's funny that the tour guide at the museum took her job so seriously.I mean, I get it, but it's not that serious.
That picture of the Jimmy John's guy with the snake cracks me up. So, you're on break and you just have to bring your snake along? I'm so confused.![]()

Savannah is beautiful, I had no idea! Brandon and I keep saying we want to drive down to Disney one year, and if we do, we will definitely have to stop in Savannah! Thanks, Pat and Mary Ellen. I didn't mean to hijack Mary Ellen's TR with my tales of woe.![]()
Wow you guys got a lot done in one day!Savannah is beautiful, I had no idea! Brandon and I keep saying we want to drive down to Disney one year, and if we do, we will definitely have to stop in Savannah!
It reminds me a lot of Boston, with a Southern twist to it!
Oh, and is your beer Pete's Wicked Ale? Brandon used to drink that a lot!

If you can ever work it into one of your East coast vacations, do it! It's very cool. Someone told me to read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and I am now. It's really a good book to read before Savannah.
Love that book!
Wonderful update, sorry I'm late to read it! Am still fighting the crud. I can't stand it when you get a guide like that, really sucks the joy out of the experience. I can't believe how much you packed in, what a fun, eclectic day!
I remember the movie being good too....with John Cusack I believe. I have so many movies in my queue..waiting for a cold winter day.
Yeesh....I couldn't have dealt with all of her yapping and rules but after having already paid I guess there is not much you can do.
The worst was a few years ago when premium was over $5....I don't think I ever let it get below a half tank so I could mentally prepare myself for paying
