Do you know what that rhymes with????

I cannot get my 5 year old to stop it either (she's in the 'its funny because its a bad word stage')! It was bad enough when she was 3 and didn't know but now she's got my 2 year old saying it too! GRRRR

LOL I feel your pain! My 2 year old LOVES fire trucks but for the longest time it didn't exactly come out as fire TRuck if you get my drift!

Same problem here - but it was Tow "TR"uck. Got a few looks whenever one would go by as we were walking down the street! LOL

After years of incremental reinforcement, we explain to the kids that we will strip their privileges away from them and to make a point, remove one immediately.

It gets the point across, and there's no hassle or sweat on our part.

We had a similar scenario develop just yesterday with something my daughter heard at school. My only concern is that I have to worry about where she heard "I'll break your arm" from. Her brother's a martial artist and in the next grade up, so it may come as a surprise to whomever taught her the phrase. She'll start next year.

At any rate, she repeated it to him when he didn't play with her at something or other. Mrs. Caipira heard it and we "sat them down".

There was an immediate understanding.

BTW: Disney is a "privilege". ;)

How about the animals in Pocahontas? When this first came out, my then 2 yr old was obsessed with it. Unfortunately, she couldn't say either "Percy" (will let you figure that one out-hint: she couldn't quite make out the "er" sound and Flit (again hint: couldn't get out "F's" out right, sounded more like "C's".

Ummmm I am somewhat confused....but oh well :earboy2:

One of the best stories about my wife as a child that when touring the fire department with her pre-school class with her Grandmother as a chaperone she pulled the Fire "tr"uck with it changed. Her grandmother would never let her live it down.

LOL My now 4 year old had that same problem when he was about 2 only it wasn't with the Pocohontas animals, it was with Thomas the Tank Engine's friend Percy. Fortunately he started saying "Poopy" instead pretty quickly. Still not an attractive name for an engine but it was better than what he started off saying! ;)

We have gone with the ignore it and not make an issue of it way of dealing with this. If we make an issue of it, they pick up on it and keep saying it to get a reaction. We would just say "yes, I see the fire truck!" or "mmm hmm, Percy pulls the mail train" back to them without trying to correct it. Of course in our case it wasn't intentional use of a "bad word" but rather the mispronunciation of a toddler. ;)

Color me stupid. I don't know what rhymes with Stitch.

I feel like I'm on the Seinfeld episode, trying to figure it out.

OH, *that* one!

Thanks! I've been racking my brain over that one. I should've asked my sister who has a potty mouth! That's one of her favorites.
