Why do you go to Disney as an Adult without any children?

It's the only type of vacation where I truly leave any worries behind. I just relax and have fun and you really get to escape to a world where you can, at least for a few days, believe everything will be okay. I love meeting the characters, you can have very fun conversations with some of them. We definitely will be doing a character breakfast on our next trip as well, a trip where we will not have any nieces or nephews traveling with us. A trip where it will just be... us two grown ups! We've traveled many places in the world and they have all been amazing trips, but we will never give up going to Disney. Walt is my idol and I could spend a whole day in MK just admiring what his brain thought up.

As for waiting in lines for rides, sometimes that's the best bit! A lot of the lines are interactive and you can meet some cool people while you wait.

I only went to WDW once as a child and definitely wanted to go many more times. It took me a full 20 years to make it back there but it was definitely worth it and I love that as an adult I get to decide what we do and where we eat.

Speaking of eating...I love that as vegetarians we can eat something completely different for dinner each night. And not just your basic veggie burgers or pasta, but new and exciting dishes. They really do cater to all tastes.

There are lots of things to do at the parks that are for grownups only as well.

We love it so much we became DVC members last year. If we decide to have children in the future, we know that we can take them many times while they grow up. But if we don't, then we know we have somewhere wonderful to visit whenever we want.

I don't see the attraction and 90% of the lines for kiddy types of rides are adults with no children.

The lines to take pictures with characters are insanely long and again 90% of the people in line do not have children with them.

What is the attraction for an adult to take a picture or wait in line for a children's ride??

Because I love Disney personally? I don't wait in line for characters, though I do have a few I might consider waiting for. Just personal favorites like Sully or Baymax. Dh and I went to Disneyland alone two week ago and it was really fun. I loved riding the rides, no one whined at me or was tired of waiting and we toured at our own pace without worrying about nap, breaks or bedtime for small ones. It was great.

We also enjoyed a romantic lunch at Blue Bayou. Just we two. I can't wait to do it again.

Because of the Disney Magic and Pixie dust.........no other parks and attractions, resorts come close.

Because there is so much more in WDW,DL etc........then just the kids rides.

Because we see the joy in the eyes of our kids and grandkids when they go on Dumbo, meet the princesses and Mickey. The love the kids have for those characters. We are perfectly happy to step up and have our pictures taken and try to feel that joy ourselves.

Because of all the many things outside of the parks themselves.........monorails, boats, Hoop Dee Do Review, electric water light parade, the FW campground sing along, etc, etc, etc,

Because many of us grew up with Uncle Walt, and know the joy he could create every Sunday night. The nostalgia we see on Main Street USA, the Disney movies we relive every time we ride the Steam train.(real steam trains)Peter Pan, the POTC, &DMT, SW, etc, etc,

Because of the attractions from the NY Worlds Fair, COP, Mr. Lincoln, now the hall f Presidents, dinosaur(Ford), IASW many of us visited and love the 5 Disney attractions, all the highest attendance pavilions there. many in DL and WDW.

Walt tried to teach us all that there is a little kid in all of us and he showed us it is perfectly all right to let the child out!

All that and we have only scratched the surface

AKK

For me it is nostalgia, pure clean fun, and a total escape from the world! Didn't Walt say Disney was for everyone no matter the age? We choose not to have kids and we vacation at Disney. And yes we have stood in line to see Mickey and Minnie. But it was a walk through. It always amazes me how people think Disney is only for kids.

Isn't wdw statistically the #1 Honeymoon destination in the world--- ( or, at least. The US)?

Think I read that somewhere---- agree--- not a great 1st post !!

For science

I actually frequent the parks by myself - no children or other adults - and I love that I can be as excited about the parks as I want to be.
I also have a checklist of every attraction and character and you can bet that I will do whatever it takes to check everything off that list, even if it means waiting in line for a ridiculous amount of time to get a high-profile character

Took my first ever trip without the kids (grandkids) last November. My husband and I stood in line to see Elsa and Anna, Cinderella and Rapunzel, Phineas and Ferb, Mickey, Minnie and Goofy and had breakfast with Stitch. We also had our pictures taken on the Speeder at HS. Can't wait to do it again.

Why join a Disney Forum just to post one mean spirited post and then bugger off?

I got to Disney as an adult because

a) i like the fact the theming transports me away to a different land
b) The food is amazing! No way children are going to appreciated all the amazing food i've eaten while there
c) alcoholic drinks are amazing too
d) Its one of the only ways I can ever fully relax. I reach a point of complete serenity at Disney. I've got entertainment when ever i want it, food when ever I want it. A clean walkway to walk down and bins ever 30 steps and a toilet around the corner. I don't have to worry about ANYTHING. (except FP+ :rotfl:)

But most of all I go to Disney because its something that I ENJOY and I don't care if others think its strange. I'm not hurting anyone, its my money that I earn by working hard and every once in a while its nice to do something for yourself.

My husband and I go because it brings me joy to believe in things like love and magic and happiness, and be surrounded by them when the regular day to day world can be a really cruel, difficult place. Disney reminds me of childhood, when my hardest decision was what to have for breakfast on Saturday mornings while watching cartoons. In a world of politics and killing and balancing bank accounts and rude people (ahem), going to Disney makes me feel, even for a few days, the simplicity and safety of childhood once again. I waited in line to meet Merida this trip for the first time because I want so badly to be brave in my own life...her spirit and tenacity are qualities that I still work towards. Everyone has characters that they feel as if they "connect" with, whether you're 3 or 43.

Also, OP...go away. You can't sit with us.

"Hanging" around the world and beautiful resorts is FUN:cheer2: as adults without the kiddos! So is "eating and drinking":drinking1 around the world! CAN'T WAIT for F&W this October, just DH and me!:bounce:

So, what are you saying? Because I chose not to have children then I should stay away from Disney?????!!! Making my 1st trip to WDW in December but since I have no children then I have no need to ride the rides, take photos with characters and oh I don't know, have fun??
