Why do you go to Disney as an Adult without any children?

Yup....character meals included in that too.

Seriously though....I can see going to an amusement park for the thrill rides as an adult. But to sit and wait in line for to get a picture taken with Buzz and Woody?

My honest opinion and is that Disney has become so overcrowded that it ruins the experience for the kids and at the end of the day I believe Disney is for kids.

That is your opinion. So why even on here in the first place? My parents go now that all their children are adults and have kids. They go cause they want to be a little kid a bit. My husband and I are going and leaving our 14th month home with gma and gpa in Dec. Its to make sure you have your little kid in your satisfied. But that is just my opinion. When my son turns 5 and if living in Florida at the time we will take him for a big birthday celebration. Who cares if adult want to stand in line its their choice. If it's not hurting you emotionally or physically why do you care?

I go very frequently and have no children. Heck, I also take solo trips. we honeymooned at Disney! I have Disney themed rooms in my house. I love the "kiddie rides" and like meeting characters. I love signature dining. We do a fair amount of character dining too. I never get sick of Disney and always find something to do. It's cool that it's your opinion that Disney is for kids and that it's overcrowded and ruins your experience. One less person crowding the park while I happily ride pooh 3x a day!

I'm a self admitted overgrown 5 year old, and I am darn proud :earsboy:

Well, have fun excluding yourself from fun things then. Most theme parks/amusement parks have some types of characters, so I would just avoid them all if I were you lol.

I don't see the attraction and 90% of the lines for kiddy types of rides are adults with no children.

The lines to take pictures with characters are insanely long and again 90% of the people in line do not have children with them.

What is the attraction for an adult to take a picture or wait in line for a children's ride??

disney world is for children and children at heart.

maybe you are just not a child at heart.

Not trying to be snarky, but........because we want to. Everyone has the right to go where they want, free country and all. We love the memories we made with our kids at Disney World, and now that they're grown, the ones we make together. And we didn't wait in line, we just walked right up. :P image.jpg

I first went to WDW as an adult on my honeymoon. We had no children at the time. I did however run two business, and even when I was not "at work" there was (and still is) a constant stream of issues and phone calls to deal with. Staying on site at WDW was the first time in years when I was truly able to completely relax. Even on other vacations, there were always things that I had to manage and deal with. At WDW, I am taken care of. There are 50,000 cast members available to deal with my every need, and they go above and beyond to make me feel as if my immediate desires are the most important things in the world. Yes, I enjoy the rides and attractions, some because they bring back fond childhood memories, but many because they are truly spectacular even for an adult. Even more than that though, I appreciate the massive infrastructure designed specifically to melt the outside world away. The Magic Kingdom is a top notch theme park, but not necessarily something I would return to again and again as an adult without children. WDW as a whole, especially if you are staying on property is so much more than a cluster of above average theme parks. From spas, to golf, to top notch dining and entertainment, just about anything you could want while on vacation can be found right there on property, Even more important than those ammenities, is how they go above and beyond to remove any pain points that may come between you and your optimal enjoyment of all there is to do. I can't speak for other adults, but when I went to WDW before I had kids, it was because WDW was one of the few places in the world where I could shed all of my real world stress and enjoy myself in a make believe world of joy. I also have 17 acres with a cabin in the woods for this purpose, but it doesn't come complete with 50,000 people to cater to my every need. Don't get me wrong, I love my real world life, but every once in a while I need a break ,and there is no better place to escape to than WDW.

Because its the Happiest Place on Earth. Seriously. It feels like coming home. There is just something about it. Maybe the feeling of being a kid again. The great family memories.

We don't, and probably won't be able to, have children.

I never went as a child, as I come from a single parent family, and a holiday in the United States was way beyond anything my mum could pay for.

We went, as a one off, and loved it. My super cynical husband loved it, and wanted to go back. So we are. We work hard. We save hard. We'll take our holidays wherever we choose. And we choose WDW. We meet characters, we enjoy the rides, we have character meals... and we have a blast. Why wouldn't we go?

Interesting 1st post.

I have loved Disney since I was a child and DH and I took multiple trips there by ourselves before kids. We even had our honeymoon at Disney and would have gotten married there if we could have afforded it.

Since we've had kids, we go even more often of course....every year to be precise and we LOVE it. It's like a second home for us.

I don't see Disney as a place just for kids....at all.

Good thing it's just an opinion. If Disney were just for kids they wouldn't have tons of wedding options, alcoholic beverages, or bars/lounges for that matter. Fact is Disney as a brand is for everyone that can enjoy light hearted, whimsical fun, and they make a ton of money on that. Obviously many adults don't agree with you, which is great for us because it's one less person to compete with in getting those character meal reservations! Have fun at just any old amusement park for a day maybe two...I will be staying at Disney for a week!

On our last trip, my wife and I kept talking about how great it will be once we can start coming to WDW without the children :)

To me, the only thing that are really "kid-specific" would be the play areas, the Playhouse Disney stage show, and quite possibly the Barnstormer.

Disney is for everyone, not just kids (or families with kids). We love our trips and we may never have kids. Disney is geared for all ages!

Not true. Barnstormer is the only "rollercoaster" my mother will go on!

:lmao:

I'm not sure I agree that Disney is primarily for kids. Plenty of the attractions are too intense for a lot of kids (POC and HM for instance) until they're pretty big.

I don't think there's a single attraction that has ride vehicles that were built kid-sized (as you see at plenty of non-Disney theme parks). Disney's vehicle seats were all built to be adult-sized. Walt obviously intended for adults to ride everything.

Each attraction has so much story, so much theming -- they're certainly geared towards entertaining grown ups -- kids too, of course -- but lots of the subtle touches are lost to the kids.

This thread makes me think of the Simpsons episode where Prof. Frink tells Ralph that he can't play with the toddler push toy until he "appreciates it on the same level I do" ;)
