Cautiously optimistic that they've done do a real "addition by subtraction" and then some based on some reviews I'm reading. That ride was so dated looking before.

Was the single rider line open today? Yesterday? Just wondering if there's any chance we'll get to ride it next weekend or if we should wait for a later trip.

Yes, we rode it today! And single rider was open.

The ride opened right at 9 (was not open for early entry). But the line looked long then, so we came back around 10am to a less than 30 min wait.

Honestly I liked the old version better (building your own cars and the cute play stuff after the ride)…. But the new scene right before the outdoor launch looked beautiful! Still a fun ride.

Is single rider going much faster than standby?

Yes. On Tuesday (7/22) the single rider line took ~20 minutes. The standby was posted at 55 minutes when I did it about 10:30 am.
