Shelly - I will go over and check out the HoJo for you and take some pictures. Right now there is a lot of construction going on over at the DL hotel, but that should be done by next summer. The new pool is open as well as the new bar and quick service counter, Trader Sam's and Tangaroa Terrace. They are remodeling all the rooms in all four towers, including the outside facade. It has been an ongoing project for almost two years now and they are almost done.

Thanks Sea! Like I said -- no hurry.

So, there are four towers to the DL hotel? I didn't realize it was that large. I'd love to stay there right after they are done with the remodel!

I just can't believe it's time!!


So I've missed a lot, I have to catch up with everything.
This morning I had to cross state lines to smuggle Sudafed back.
I tried to get some at my local pharmacy and the whole dang state is not selling it w/o an RX. So I went to the next state over. I needed it.


Guess why???

Guess what I did??? (Shelly you can't answer, you already know...)

I packed up my box!!!!!!! I just have to address it and ship it tomorrow!!!!
I'm proud of myself but the dang thing is heavy It's gonna cost a ton to ship. ugh.

Sorry I have been MIA again...this past weekend was DD's 10th birthday and we were super busy!
Shelly- wow, three more days! I am so excited for you. I cannot wait to hear how you like the Poly! We are getting excited for our visit too. Love your haircut too!

Stinks doesn't it! It's nice living so close to the coast because we can go to the beach for the day any time we want, but when something like this happens, I wish I lived somewhere else.

I was in high school when Hugo hit, but I remember that one and Andrew. That would have freaked me out to not be able to get in touch with my parents like that. So glad you had a friend who could help out. It's hard to imagine a time before cell phones, isn't it! My parents live next door, so at least I don't have to worry about my household and them.

We've only had one cat 4 storm here in my lifetime (Floyd in '99). It was absolutely devastating. It literally destroyed Eastern NC. Not only did it bring typical hurricane damage, but also 20 some inches of rain that caused enormous flooding. It has taken so long for this area to recover from that even though it was more than 10 years ago. It's really amazing how drastically life can change in about 12 hours. I am REALLY hoping that this storm fizzles out or changes course. But in the meantime, we will be turning our house into Fort Knox and buying up all the batteries and beenie weenies in a 50 mile radius!

WOW Shelly!! I knew the minute I saw your "I did something drastic" post it was cutting your hair, but since I was off the DIS for one whole day, and missed about 6 pages here, I wouldn't be first to guess. It is a very cute, albeit not that short, haircut! I like your highlights too!

And that Jack is growing like the weeds in my yard!!! So cute!

My week is better this week, thanks, but still plenty busy. I decided that I will NOT work during my lunch. So I get to do a little DISing. Since your trip is SO SOON, I had to come here first and see how you're all doing!

That earthquake was awful for you Shelly and Heather!! I'm so glad you guys are okay!!
I remember as a kid my babysitter told me that California was going to have a massive earthquake one day that would cause it all to slide into the ocean. I've been scared of California since then. Sorry Sea.

Morning ladies! It's 7:10 here, so after 8 for you guys and no 'talky' yet this morning..are y'all okay? I didnt know about the earthquakes till late last night. I was shocked. I mean, all the way to PA? Well, I have to work today and won't be able to check in as ofter as I would like, but will have to try to just to make sure you are all alright and have 'net service!!

Jo......I must hear about this haircut you had!! And you are just over a week away!!!!

Shelly...hope your migraine is gone--I am sure it was stress and weather pressure induced...when we have hurricanes pass through I get terrible migraines. Sleep is usually the only thing that helps...hope you are better today and can take it easy.

Um, the haircut that scarred the family.
Um, well. My hair was almost to my waist. I went to my hairdresser who reminded me of Edward Scissorhands- when he cut hair the shears flew so fast I was terrified of him clipping something like my ears.

So, anyway, the hairdresser-- imagine him, now.... NOT gay- but very metro- had been a centerfold for an ahem, adult magazine at one time. Anyway, I'd been going to him for three years and he always called me Rapunzel. So I go in there that day and sit down and he says "okay rapunzel what are we doing? I know, you don't want me to cut but an inch and a half."

I said, "Nope, cut it to a bob, midway between my chin and shoulders."



He got this wide eyed look, grabbed my hair with his left hand, grabbed his scissors from this belt thingy he always wore around his waist, and Whacked it off with his right---- all in the course of about three seconds.

Everyone in the salon gasped!!!!!!!
I screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


And he said, " I had to darling, before you changed your mind. I had to be the one to cut it off, I wasn't letting anyone else get a hold of it."

So he styles it, I like it, I go home, Mark opens the door as I get to it, and he gasps.
Drew starts crying, and MARK SLAMS THE DOOR IN MY FACE, saying I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO IT!!!!!!!!

So there ya go. My Haircut story. I've never lived it down.
Everyone was scarred for life.

It looks like FL will be spared of Irene. Thankfully. I still don't know about our flight down on Friday morning. Hopefully we won't have any delays or cancellations. We thought about switching to a Thursday nt flight, but I think we will just stick with Friday morning and hope for the best!

The news just seems to be getting better each day. Hurricanes are turning away from Florida, the weather forecast actually includes the word "sun" a few times, and packing is completed or at least begun in some cases .

I remember hearing that all the time when I was a kid too! And then I watched that TV movie -- I think it was called "10.0" or something. Scared me to death!!

I hear through work that the meth use/making is down in MN since that became law, but now people are doing other drugs anyway.

Shelly - I was wrong, the DL hotel has three towers, Fantasy, Adventure and Frontier. Adventure is the closest to the monorail and DTD, which starts about 100 feet away from the hotel. Disney's Paradise Pier hotel is just south of the DL hotel and faces directly across the street from DCA, however, there is no access from there to DCA. Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is next to DTD and the WOD store. It is directly next door to DCA and there is direct access to the park from the hotel. - Sea

While you are getting your last minute things done in order to leave tomorrow morning, I am heading out to the store later to stock up on some provisions in case Irene does hit us.

I will think of you down there while we are hunker'in down the outdoor stuff that might blow away

The worse we ever got hit was back in the 80's when we were without power for 6 days. Don't live in the same town anymore so I am hopeing if the storm hits us it will not be as bad.

Have a safe and uneventful flight tomorrow and will be waiting to hear all about your trip when you get back.

We used to be able to get Sudafed from behind the counter but now they have signs up that you have to have an RX. Way to go, Meth heads.

Thought about keeping on and drving to Branson, but the last time I was there, there was a General Lee Dukes of Hazzard Reunion going on complete with Cooter. Some things, once seen, cannot be unseen.

I decided it was best to just come on back home where I am known and loved.

While you are getting your last minute things done in order to leave tomorrow morning, I am heading out to the store later to stock up on some provisions in case Irene does hit us.

I didn't sleep too well last night. Couldn't get to sleep at first and then once I did get to sleep I woke up to a big fat thunderstorm. Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight, but something tells me that probably won't happen.

Thanks Jo and Shelly for the well wishes that Irene takes a friggin hike out to sea. As of now they are showing it coming straight at the part of the state where we are, I was fine until the weather man had to talk about it spawning tornados

By the way I had no idea you could no longer purchase sudafed over the counter, I have not bought it in many years and I can not use it myself as it is one over the counter drug the Dr told me to not use since it raises blood pressure badly.
