Good morning!!

I am going to Disney World in 3 DAYS!!!

:scared1::scared1::scared1:

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Happy Single Digits Jo ~ 9 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banana:

DS12 had a Middle School tour this morning with the principal since we will be missing Open House while we are on vacation. Good grief, I don't know how he is ever going to handle MS! :eek: I am worried for him. He doesn't seem too concerned though. Hopefully all will go smoothly. :wizard:

3 DAYS!!!!! That's like, not tomorrow, not the next day, but the NEXT DAY! :eek: That's how I've always described 3 days. ;)

I would just (try to) quit worrying about the weather and your flights and keep everything as planned. The odds of anything major happening are probably very slim.

I'm sure your DS will handle MS just fine. I know he's an honor student and has done well up to this point! And we parents worry waaayyy more than our kids. ;) I would be very encouraged that he doesn't seem too concerned. It has been a very long time since I was in school, but I don't ever remember us having orientations and tours like they do now. Maybe they did, and I just don't remember. :confused3 But we all turned out OK! Don't stress - he will be fine!

Hello Everyone!
Sorry I have been MIA again...this past weekend was DD's 10th birthday and we were super busy!
Shelly- wow, three more days! I am so excited for you. I cannot wait to hear how you like the Poly! We are getting excited for our visit too. Love your haircut too!
Jo- hope all is well, your trip is almost here!:goodvibes

Yep - I can still put it in a ponytail - it's just a way shorter ponytail!

We always say that when Jack gets up from a nap - that he grew while he was sleeping!! :faint:

The kids are determined to teach him to skateboard. So he gets a little lesson each day. :rolleyes: Poor dog. :rotfl:

Jack will forgive the boys for the skateboarding lessons when he starts having birthday parties in his honor and being included in all of the holidays! :)

Shelly - Happy 3 Days!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Jo - Happy Single Digit and 9 Days!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks Sea!! :woohoo:

Hey, remember when you offered to check out DL hotels for me and take pics??? If you are still willing I would love to know more about the Howard Johnsons and the Disneyland Hotel. No hurry obviously. Just sometime you are in the area and have some free time. Thanks!! :goodvibes

Well that's the perfect way to describe 3 days!! :laughing:

I am trying not to worry about the weather. It's hard not to though! :upsidedow I read one thing that tells that FL is out of danger and I think our flight will be okay and then the next thing I read contradicts that. :confused3

I think DS will do well in MS. School wise. I'm just worried about him staying organized and making it to class on time and remember everything. All that junk!! He's not the most organized kid around. And you know how boys are anyway. :faint:

Oh well, it's just another stage in our lives that we will make it through, because we have to! :rotfl:

Happy Birthday to your DD! :goodvibes DS9 will turn 10 about a month after we get back from vacation. Hard to believe.

I'm sure we are going to love the Poly. What's not to love, right?! :lovestruc

I suppose! :laughing:

:hug: I know too well about the hurricanes-- been thru a few. I'm praying the storm takes a turn and leaves the whole East coast alone.

Charleston's big Hurricane was Hugo in 1989. The eye of the hurricane passed over Charleston as a Cat 4 storm.
I wasn't at home-- I was in college in OK-- but my parents didn't leave the house and I couldn't reach them for two weeks. The only reason they got telephone lines was b/c a friend of mine who worked for the phone co stopped at my mom's house and said he knew I was probably upset and wanted her to be able to contact me.:lovestruc No one else in the neighborhood had telephones for another two weeks.

Praying that you get spared--- my cousin is in Puerto Rico and I talked to her yesterday-- she has no internet or cable but her apt bldg has a generator so they have power.

Be safe. You have our thoughts.:hug:

Thank you! :hug:

Stinks doesn't it! It's nice living so close to the coast because we can go to the beach for the day any time we want, but when something like this happens, I wish I lived somewhere else.

I was in high school when Hugo hit, but I remember that one and Andrew. That would have freaked me out to not be able to get in touch with my parents like that. So glad you had a friend who could help out. It's hard to imagine a time before cell phones, isn't it! :laughing: My parents live next door, so at least I don't have to worry about my household and them.

We've only had one cat 4 storm here in my lifetime (Floyd in '99). It was absolutely devastating. It literally destroyed Eastern NC. Not only did it bring typical hurricane damage, but also 20 some inches of rain that caused enormous flooding. It has taken so long for this area to recover from that even though it was more than 10 years ago. It's really amazing how drastically life can change in about 12 hours. I am REALLY hoping that this storm fizzles out or changes course. But in the meantime, we will be turning our house into Fort Knox and buying up all the batteries and beenie weenies in a 50 mile radius! :rolleyes:

On a brighter note... HAPPY SINGLE DIGITS TO YOU! :)

WOW Shelly!! I knew the minute I saw your "I did something drastic" post it was cutting your hair, but since I was off the DIS for one whole day, and missed about 6 pages here, I wouldn't be first to guess. It is a very cute, albeit not that short, haircut! I like your highlights too!

And that Jack is growing like the weeds in my yard!!! So cute!

So here are your naners:

:banana::banana::banana: for Shelly!

:banana::banana::banana:
:banana::banana::banana:
:banana::banana::banana: for Jo!

I hope the weather doesn't cause any problems for either of you - or YOU Rinky!! Be safe!!

Jo - loved your top 10!!! I never remember to notice that sign above the entry to MK. Must stop and pay homage to it next time. It really sums it up nicely.
Shelly - don't worry too much about your DS in middle school. They find a way to make it all work. We worry about it way more than the kids do.

My week is better this week, thanks, but still plenty busy. I decided that I will NOT work during my lunch. So I get to do a little DISing. Since your trip is SO SOON, I had to come here first and see how you're all doing!

Wow I guess the earthquake was near Washington DC. :eek: I was sitting here on a stool at the kitchen bar and it started shaking and wobbling. My dishwasher is running and I thought -- there must be something wrong with that thing to make the floor shake like that!! :upsidedow

Freaky!! I've never felt an earthquake before.

Is that what that was????:scared1: I couldn't figure out what was going on!

I heard there was a 5.8 earthquake in DC/Virginia area. I started to get really motion sick out of nowhere and started getting lightheaded and thought it was just me, then I looked up and everyone in my office was looking around freaking out :scared1:

Im on the 14th floor and started panicking thinking we were going down :eek:

Is that what that was????:scared1: I couldn't figure out what was going on!

It's breaking news on CNN right now....a 5.8 they're reporting. It says Virginia & DC and that the Pentagon was evacuated. :scared1: Are you guys okay?

Because, it wasn't enough that you are worring about Irene.....they had to throw in an earthquake! (And there was an earthquake in Colorado this morning, too!)

Hey Shelly! I was wondering if you had felt that quake!

RF - You felt it too? Stay safe!

We are fine here. DS9 says he felt the floor tickling his feet but he thought it was Jack! :rotfl:

Wow that is crazy!!

How long did it last Heather? I'd say I felt it for less than a minute here.

Earthquakes and hurricanes and hernias.....I'm starting to think this trip was not meant to be. :scared:

Yeah, I agree - it was about a minute. I am seriously freaked right now. It wasn't anything crazy, but I just started to feel really weird and then people's phones started ringing off the hook

Shelly, I am so glad that you were not flying today. It looks like the airports are closing. And I'm glad everyone is ok. What a crazy summer this has been!

Lots of reports of the quake being felt here in Connecticut but I did not feel a thing :confused3

That's a lot of bananas!! :banana:

Thanks for the well wishes with the weather. I don't know what to think about it anymore.

I'm sure DS will do fine in MS. It's just going to be a big adjustment for him.

The quake was felt all the way down to Atlanta!

WOW!:eek:

I hadn't heard that about the airports closing. Yikes! Good thing we weren't flying today.

This is crazy! Now I am really worried about Friday!

Lots of reports of the quake being felt here in Connecticut but I did not feel a thing :confused3

All the way up there too? Holy cow!

I have a pounding migraine, I'm going to go lay down. :sad2:
