Thank you!
Stinks doesn't it! It's nice living so close to the coast because we can go to the beach for the day any time we want, but when something like this happens, I wish I lived somewhere else.
I was in high school when Hugo hit, but I remember that one and Andrew. That would have freaked me out to not be able to get in touch with my parents like that. So glad you had a friend who could help out. It's hard to imagine a time before cell phones, isn't it!

My parents live next door, so at least I don't have to worry about
my household and them.
We've only had one cat 4 storm here in my lifetime (Floyd in '99). It was absolutely devastating. It literally destroyed Eastern NC. Not only did it bring typical hurricane damage, but also 20 some inches of rain that caused enormous flooding. It has taken so long for this area to recover from that even though it was more than 10 years ago. It's really amazing how drastically life can change in about 12 hours. I am REALLY hoping that this storm fizzles out or changes course. But in the meantime, we will be turning our house into Fort Knox and buying up all the batteries and beenie weenies in a 50 mile radius!
On a brighter note... HAPPY SINGLE DIGITS TO YOU!
