Who Loves College Football

I disagree with a few of your observations. Michigan is a total fraud. They beat a mediocre Notre Dame team and went down to the wire with a very weak IU team. Michigan has no defense.

The surprise is Illinois. Took Ohio State down to the wire, and crushed Penn St. on the road. Illinois will beat IU, Purdue, and Minnesota at home. Will probably lose to Mich St., but I think IL will beat Michigan and NW on the road. (NW is at Wrigley Field). They would be 6-2 in the Big Ten. If i'm wrong I"ll come back and eat crow.

Illinois is a good team. They're definitely underrated.

It is a really sad day, when fans dislike their coach so much that they sit watching their team play, but root on and cheer when the other team scores on them. Dh's best friend is up from Arkansa and since living in SEC country, the only time he gets his Big Ten Michigan fix is when he goes for his two week vacation. He was cheering for MSU, al the while wearing his maze and blue.

I'm glad Purdue pulled out the win, but lord do I HATE running QB's. I hate what Hope is doing to our program.

Just as an fyi, if anyone is heading to Lafayette this weekend for the Purdue game, the ISSMA is holding it's regional's at Lafayette Jefferson HS on Saturday as well. 30 bands and loads of parents will be flooding into town. I know the venues aren't next door to each other, but I am sure the best food joints will be jumping.

The Tide has turned! Sorry, LOL! Gamecock fan here. We don't get this excitement very often! They played a near perfect game Saturday! Very exciting game to watch. Both teams actually played very well. Hopefully we can keep up the momentum! Go Gamecocks!

YOUR team played great! Mine....not so much. Good Luck next week! Who are you playing?

My team uhhhhhhhh 2-4 - Congrats to the Gamecocks! First time ever beating AP #1 team....

I was really worried for Carolina after watching Alabama cream Florida. They made Florida look like high school kids! We play Kentucky next week.

My Gators are in a heap of trouble. There is absolutely NO leadership on that team since Spikes and Tebow left last year....and Meyer looks like a deer caught in headlights on the sideline. There is trouble brewing in Gainsville

But don't count out Iowa.

We go to Ann Arbor this weekend to play Michigan, who, as well all agree, is just a shadow of their former selves. We should beat them easily.

Then we get Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State at home, while going on the road to play Indiana, Northwestern, and Minneasota, another program that is in shambles.

So with the schedule stacked in our favor, we should have a good year too. Now, if we could just do-over that first half against Arizona . . .

I agree 150%. Purdue is a passing school. rather die by the pass then win by the run. Problem is we, Purdue, never win by the run. If we are not passing then we do not stand a chance at winning.

BoilerUp

Go Broncos, can at least hope!

Isn't that due to injury though. Purdue had the Miami transfer (Mavre ????) and wasn't he a throwing qb ?

If he was, then Hope was not using him in that way. Also he never impressed me. I quess when he pulled the stunt on his first running TD by doing a flip into the end zone he lost me. I am a fan of the basketball on grass offense.

Here is what I could find.

2004 Kyle Orton 389 pass attempts to 80 rushes. That is 1 run to every 4.86 passes

2008 Curtis Painter 379 pass attempts to 44 rushes. That is 1 run to every 8.61 passes

2009 Joey Elliott 433 pass attempts to 87 rushes. That is 1 run to every 4.98 passes

2010 Robert Marve 99 pass attempts to 22 rushes. That is 1 run to every 4.50 passes. That is in the 3-4 games he played in.
Rob Henry 59 pass attemtps to 47 rushes. That is 1 run to every 1.26 passes. That is NOT what QB's do at Purdue. He is currently sitting in 13 place for rushing in the Big ten.

While you are correct, that with Marve, it was starting to look like he was going to be more of a thrower than runner, it still leaves us with a backup QB that goes against the grain of what Purdue football is all about. When your a program that throws, you don't recruit, sign, and start a QB that would prefer to run than throw. You go out and you find and get a QB that would prefer to stay within your program.

Just my weekly shout out to the Boys in Blue! We love ya BRONCOS!

We are really looking forward to a competitive game! But I will be drinking beer in my very comfortable couch in Boise :). I do have a retired friend that travels to every game, and a friend who is a dean at the school who always goes to the Hawaii game!

Yes, indeed!

Texas beats #5 Nebraska, and
# 18 Wisconsin beats #1 Ohio State!!

#15 IOWA beats Michigan at home, and
Purdue beats Minnesota (and costing Tim Brewster his job).

All my teams won, so I'm a happy girl!

Well, not so happy this week. :sad1:

Iowa just made too many mistakes and miscues, and our special teams really need some work. But losing by 1 (to a very good Wisconsin team, I will admit) at home was very tough - so tough that our All American defensive end Adrian Clayborn was reduced to tears at the post-game press conference.

And Purdue was the victim of both their defeat of Ohio State last year, and the Buckeyes loss to Wisconsin last week. The Buckeyes were out for blood, and they got it.

Well at least you didn't mention how much warmer you will be than we will! ;)
Ahhhhh don't even whisper the H word :lmao:

We too are hoping for a good nailbiter of a game!

DH was DVRing the game for me, as I was at the IN high school semi-state marching competition. He called me at half time and said it was bad, REALLY REALLY BAD. Told him to delete it.

And with the way the BCS #1's have been falling, I don't know if I would want that ranking. It's been a death card to the last three #1's. Let's see if Auburn can break the losing streak.

Yes, it is almost as bad as the Sports Illustrated cover jinx!
