Who feels like a Thread-Killer? Part 2

Ooh, Kim - Lice is NO FUN! I got a BAD case when I lived in the Philippines! Those things got as big as cockroaches in the jungle! (think we can finally gross out BrerPapa?) Robin has some excellent advice!

The only other thing I can recommend is getting a lice "nit" comb. I don't know if they sell them here in the West, but you could find them everywhere in the philippines! Also, you definitely want to go to the docs and get some presecription lice shampoo/medicine. Best of luck.

We were up late (as you know, Robin) finishing off books. Now we're up and have to exercise before I do a bit of volunteer work today. I think a nap is in order today (like I need an excuse!) then I'm baking a chicken for dinner! Ooh, sounds like MY hands are full today (haha!).

Ya'll take care - got to get the day started!
Again, Kim, best-o-luck and welcome back! Ann

Kim, I found that the only way to get all of the nits out of my daughter"s hair was to pull them out by hand. Just grab them with your fingers and slide them off of the hair. It takes a long time but it is very effective. At least you only have short hair to pull them off of. That should help some.

Make sure that you treat everyone in the house too. You should shampoo everyone's hair and check for nits on them too.

Does your daughter sleep soundly??? Maybe you could work on pulling some out while she is sleeping??? Then she wouldn't be annoyed at you for "bugging" :p her so much.

I took all of my daughter's stuffed animals and put them in garbage bags. Sealed them up real tight and left them that way for about a month.

You need to wash everything with HOT water too if possible. If not then you have to give it the garbage bag treament to ensure that they all die.

Vacuum all of the furniture and also like mamajoan says don't forget to vacuum any vehicles that you have. Throw away the vacuum bag after you are done.

Make sure that you check her hair again in a week or two because sometimes new eggs will hatch (even with the shampoo). Check closely behind the ears and under the hair at the back of the neck. They like to be where it is warm.

Good luck!!!!

:wave2: Ann

Hope you and Tom have a good day.

You are going to need that nap today after being up so late last night ;)

It is going to be a scorcher day here today with the humidex readings. It is already warm out and it is only 9:30 am.

Have a great day everyone :sunny:

KIM! Welcome back!

Well, before anybody spreads any rumors.....I was behaved the WHOLE time you were absent! ::yes::

Brer  Papa <~~~ see?

Uh oh....the dreaded lice...I had them once...but the cure I used only works for bald guys...

I iced up the top of my head....I lit the fringes on both sides....and when the nits ran from the fire...i nodded my head...they slipped on the ice....and VOILA! they were gone....for GOOD!

I do admit it won't work for everybody..but...you did get some G-R-E-A-T advice....so feel free to disregard mine....

aaaah....isn't it great the KIM is back? I can do a long post again.....EXCEPT! I don't know what to write about....

did I mention how well behaved I was? OOPS! am?

hmmmm....and because you were missed over the weekend Cruisin'...I threw away the brown-nose score cards....

well...actually, I was juggling the score cards...an apple (for Kim) and a lit candle...

the candle lit the scorecards...and "WHOOSH" ...they were a-blazin'.....

so, I figured I wouldn't have been a-jugglin' if you were here...so, we wold just disregard them because we all missed you

I do remember the order though....

we had many happy memories taking those hikes...and it is sad to see the state it's in today...

and it's a 2 for 1 day....another sad one...

we had such fun visiting Discovery Island in those days....we comment on these memories every trip....It would be nice if WDW opened it up just for walks....

Discovery Island was one of MA's favorite things to do each trip we took her....

HEY!...lighter note....tissues all around...

OK?

OK!

hey...remember the experiment?
there is a thead going....being read so many times the counter can't keep up....

I have read the title...and yes...I am curious....but...the subject matter seems too sad....so I've resisted reading it....

BUT! ....it is zooming in views....I find that interesting.....but then again...I find juggling a scorecard, an apple and a lit candle interesting....

:wave2: Everyone:wave2:

I am dising from upstairs in my son's room again right now because he has his friends over playing that game in my basement again.

Brer_Papa I notice a discrepancy in your post about your behaviour while Kim was gone. Near the top of the post you say that you were behaved while Kim was away ::yes:: . Further down I see that you thought you had better qualify that with the fact that you were WELL behaved ;)

I just came back a bit ago from taking my daughter to the drug store. Man, there were police cars swarming all over the little plaza there  I don't know exactly what happened but I did hear rumours of a stabbing :earseek: I will have to try and catch the news at 11 and see if I can find out what happened. This is usually a quiet little town with the occasional burst of violence, not a usual occurence. I hope that whoever was stabbed will be okay. I saw a teenage girl in the drugstore that I know and she seemed extremely upset.

We went once to Discovery Island at Disney and really enjoyed it. My daughter just loved the huge snacks and she got to touch one. I have a picture and the look on her face is just precious :D

Brer_Papa, I will gladly attend your awards banquet.

I do believe that I will not be hungry that evening so I will pass on the dinner choices. Hollyann may have mine :teeth:

/
Cruisin, I can't eat two meals! I'm on a diet. I can only eat REAL food!

BrerPapa, I don't have a WDW oddity for you today, I'm just not that observant. When I get there, I'm in my own little magical world. I did post on the "have you ever had a shock" page, but that was because there was a MAJOR black out at Disney and a bird pooped on me! If it didn't happen to me - I didn't see it. The only other person I see in my world when I'm there is DH.....everyone else are magical characters! Sorry.

Mamajoan, thanks for keeping an eye on us this weekend. I hope you don't run away - keep postin!

Kim, it's good to have you back. We need all the details of your trip.

Well, it's almost 10pm and I'm actually up posting! I just finished watching a cutsie-wootsie movie with hubby. After my volunteer work, I came home, putzed around on the computer for a little bit and then we took a nap. Dinner was done, we walked this evening and relaxed. Typical day for us!

Ya'll take care - don't stay up to late tonight and play nice!

 Hollyann

You better watch out............ you are turning into a night owl :p

I am glad that you had a good day.

Oh, if you don't want my meal, then YOU will have to find someone else to give it to. It is your responsibility now ::yes::

Ahoy Cruisin'! :boat:

Discrepancy?

Aaaah....it's the horn-tooting syndrome....when a person toots his /her own horn...the tooting gets louder the longer and more you toot!

Right about now I should be tooting "I was a perfectly well behaved little Angel while you were gone"......But I'm saving that for later.....

YIKES! A possible stabbing? I hope as you do....and everybody is OK....

You're going to pass on the Award Banquet yummies? What about dessert.....we got pies....lots and lots of pies....

Is t just me...or do you sound different when you post from upstairs?

Hello HollyAnn!
(Do you think Ozzie & Harriet stayed up 'til 10 on a weeknight?)

"Cutesy-wootsie" movie made the hair on my back stand straight up....but if you enjoyed it...swell!

I didn't know you did volunteer work....Kudoes to you....you have a big heart......

I haven't been in a blackout WDW...thunderous downpours....but not a blackout....if I did get caught in one...I'd head to the RV...self-contained with a generator....

LOL @ REAL Food....are you implying I cook with fake squirrels and pretend snouts?

PSST! Hey Lurkers....any of you'se guys been to Discovery Island? want to share if you were or not?

The reason I sound different when I post from upstairs is because......................... I am closer to you :teeth: :p ;)

Oh Brer_Papa, I think that half of Pennsylvania was in Ontario last weekend ::yes:: I saw tons and tons of PA licence plates. That is something I do when we travel anywhere. I have a game where I record all of the different licence plates that I see. It sure helps to pass the time on the drive down to Florida and back again!!!

I also collect licence plates from cars. I have a few states and a couple of provinces. I have one from Germany and one from Holland too.

I did have one from Hawaii that a friend found in the recycling depot!!! I gave that one away to an older relative who collects licence plates. I figured that I have a lot more years to collect plates than he does and I wanted him to enjoy having one of those elusive plates that are hard to get. In return he gave me a whole bunch of plates, really boosted my collection::yes::

I guess that I could have dessert. You aren't planning on serving possum pie or mouse tarts are you

Aaaaah....i see....the McNugget aroma is beckoning eh?

Oh Brer_Papa, I think that half of Pennsylvania was in Ontario last weekend ::yes:: I saw tons and tons of PA licence plates.

and why not? Canada has friendly peoples...beautiful scenery.....a great place to visit...

pretty cool about the liscence plate collecting....we keep a lookout for the different states....and provinces on our trips too...

hmmm {Brer_Papa adjusts his bifocals....squints....}

m...o...u...s...e... mouse....

hmmm...OH! Thats a "T"

whew....i don't have the recipe for what i thought that said.....

Ooh, I thought I'd check one more time before bed. Howdy night owls! Cruisin, my sister lived in Hawaii for a time, but she keeps all her old license plates. If she ever decides to get rid of them, I'll snag it for you!

What's the matter BrerPapa....you don't like cutsie-wootsie movies? Have we founds your kryptonite? I just started volunteering....today was my first day. I'm going to do it once a week for now and we'll see after that - I really enjoyed it, though and can see myself doing this for a long time. My mother (step-mother, but she's so wonderful anyway!) has volunteered at our local hospital for 15 years now. She's truly a great lady.

I offered the snout sandwich to DH and doggy, but the politely declined. I might be in big trouble here. Maybe if I douse it with hot sauce it will spontaneously combust! Just my luck, I'd be eating BURNT snout sandwich, instead of ashes!

Well, I'm really signing off this time. Ya'll take care and nighty night!

Hey Hollyann, if your sister ever decides to get rid of that plate I would love to have it. I may get back the one I gave away some day. I told him he had to leave it to me in his will ;)

You better watch out Ann, I can see that you are slowly becoming more and more addicted to this place  .

That's okay, because, we're awfully glad you came !!::yes:: :wave2: :teeth:

Hey ............... Brer_Papa ?????????? do I sound more like my "old" self again????????????? I am back down in my dungeon :D

Good evening one and all!!! Boy, it's great to be back. ;)

Thank you ALL for the great suggestions. I have been in a washing frenzy all day. Still drying some stuff now.

The thing is, since this happened when we were away, her room is really ok, I think. Anything she had before we left, is dead now. I changed all the linens and towels the morning we left, and thankfully had the baskets taken right down to the basement. (Even though I didn't know then) Live lice can't live beyond 24 hours without a head to feed off of. (note: I'm itching as I type) And, her reinfestation happened while away also. Soooo, in that regard, the van had been sprayed, her car seat cover removed for washing and drying, her stuffed animals and pillows were put in the dryer this morning after she woke up, and will be all week.

I also read online that the hair treatments sold are really pesticides, and aren't even recommended for use (by that site anyway). The most effective treatment, they say, is combing and vacuuming. I have combed her 3 times today, and even bought better combs to try. I did it out on the deck, so they can die out there. Before I got the better combs, I WAS picking those buggers out by hand. Talk about gross!:scared: I also talked with my Ped nurse cousin, as well as Kelly's Ped office, and all I really got was, needing 2 treatments isn't unusual, keep combing!, and apple cider vinegar as a rinse (totally useless and stinky, too, I might add). None of the 'lice' I got out today were live. Trouble is, I can't tell the difference between the eggs and the nits. Doesn't really matter tho, they ALL have to be removed one way or the other. I know I removed everyONE of them that I saw today, but then again, I thought the same thing last week! :(

Thanks again everyone. I hope I don't have to refer back to these ideas tho. :o

OK, on to funnier stuff now...........

BP, I'm also dieting, and think I'll be eating 'lite' before the banquet. ;)

Ann, which cutesie-wootsie movie did you watch? I'm interested in knowing if I saw it yet or not. ;)

And BP, Nomar did ok yesterday (when it mattered), but I'm deeply saddened  to see Alex Gonzalez go. :( I was anxiously awaiting his return. :(

Robin...:rotfl:, you silly girl! :p

I need to do some serious 'catching up' on these boards! Talk soon all!! :sunny:

Kims... How were the Ducks?
Did you see Paul Bunyan?
and most important... did you go to the QVC STORE???

 :earseek:

:wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: Howdy do tk'rs

BP thank you so for the hug.. well worth the squeeze I can assure you!!

Hollyann.. way cool you are volunteering! Are you a Pink Lady? That is what most of the volunteers were called at the various hospitals I was employed. Love the Pink Ladies... but I did try to avoid following behind any who were driving:eek:

Joan, the Ducks were fun, it was Kelly's first time, but we had a kinda boring driver. :( Boring for the 3 of us anyway. ;) I saw Paul, but we didn't eat there as our package included ALL meals AND drinks..........guess who made out on THAT deal! ;) :p And again, I SAW the QVC store, BIL actually pointed this store out to us, he LOVES that store! :p I didn't go in tho. :( :o We ALL spent money at MOA tho, trust me! :earseek:

Best deals in the Dells, in our opinions, are the Tommy Bartlett Water Show.......HUGE FUN, tears streaming down my face from laughter!!! and, the former Big Chief's, n/k/a Mt. Olympus. Lots of go-kart tracks and coasters and kiddie rides, all-day pass $25, come-and-go as you please. Of course, our all-inclusive resort was also a great package, I think! I would NEVER have ordered Prime Rib for Kelly if I had to pay for it separately! She LOVED it, too!! :teeth:

Question to all you folks.....Anyone know of the Del Sol stores? (I think that's the name anyway) How cool is that place?! :smooth: We got 2 t-shirts and hairclips from there, and a free ring before we entered. Really cool! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: (sunny smilie pun intended)
