Good evening everyone! It was such a series of short, quick visits for me everywhere today, that I hadn't even 'lurked' on this thread until just now! Took DD to school, went to work for 2 hours, picked her & a friend up (1/2 day), met my Mom and nephew for lunch, back to school for the meeting and book fair, quick trip to the dollar store (where I SWEAR they had handcuffs!), quick trip to the post office, hurried home to my usual routine, school work, exercise, making dinner, etc. Dinner was late tonight, which threw everything else off as well. Plus The Apprentice and ER were on, so I watched those while I finished up my 'chores'. Nephew is spending the night tonight, too. Happy to finally be here and posting, and relaxing for a few minutes. ::yes::

Well, golly gee, guess what? Guess who got straight A's and all +'s on her subjects? Yep. ::yes:: However, on the back of the report card, under behavior/conduct-type things, she did get 2 check marks (satisfactory), along with more +'s, the checks being for receptiveness and distraction/disturbing others. FINALLY though, the teacher acknowledged and admitted that that is due to DD being bored, and finishing fast, and wanting more work. I think I must've been mute for the past 10 weeks. She also presented us with 3rd grade reading books for Kelly to take home, and told me that the 3rd grade teacher is going to allow Kelly to come in there everyday, pick 1-2 books, and take them back to 1st grade for silent reading time. It'll be another 'something special' for her. They are still looking into having her go into the 2nd grade for general reading, as well as entering the 2nd grade Accelerated Reader program next quarter. My 15-minute meeting, ended up taking 1/2 hour....good thing no one was scheduled after me. ;) And, as a plus, at the book fair, the principal approached me about Kelly having an opportunity next week to take a test with a school alumni, now in college, studying for something having to do with child testing, and she wants to 'test' one child from Kng, 1st & 2nd grades, and the principal thought of Kelly right away! I was so pleased. :teeth: Kelly was excited as well when she heard. :hyper: It isn't anything official, names won't be used, 'results' won't be issued, but it's just another 'something special' for her. :sunny:

Sorry this is so long.

Thanks for ALL the good wishes, help and advice today, and in the past! You all have been a great comfort to me. :grouphug: It helped me to gain, and keep, the strength I needed during this time, or I would've just let this slide, I know. :(

I plan on writing a letter to the special ed teacher, replying to her letter, and following up with what we spoke about, and above all, THANKING HER for apparently helping me, Kelly, Kelly's teacher, and the principal, SEE what needed to be done. ::yes::

And, if I may, impose on your eyes just for another moment (if not, scroll down) ;) ......... Funny thing...... When teacher opened Kelly's report card, glaringly all A's and +'s, she says, "the only thing we need to work on is"...........and I said, "attendance?" :rotfl: It was too, too funny! (At least she laughed with me) :p

Again, many, many thanks to all of you!!! There is not a single other place that I know of that would let me go on about this, without being even the slightest (or more) judgmental, and you never were. Thank you, it helped me, and Kelly, more than you know. :grouphug: :goodvibes

NOW, back to the FUN STUFF!!! :p

Hi Kim!

sounds like you had a satisfying and enjoyable night....good!

a lot of groundwork went into that...and,as you said...the SE teacher's aid was invaluable....GREAT!!

Please send my "CONGRATULATIONS" to your DD for such a fine report card....

and....remember...we are here for you....like you are here for us....

always

It sounds like you have had a very busy day Kim. It seems like ALL of my days are like that, little short segments of things, quickly switching from one thing to another::yes::

It seems that your parent teacher interview was productive. Wow grade 3 books for a grade one student, that is wonderful. Of course her superior intelligence comes from your side of the family ;)

I hope that it all works out and that they actually follow through with what they have promised you and Kelly.

Keep us updated on how things are going for her.

And of course you know we are always ready, willing and able to listen to whatever troubles you, thrills you or touches you in any way. That's what friends are for!

Thanks Robin, I probably will! You all have been such great friends!!! (I feel a 'song' coming on!) :teeth:

Santa called me. He was throwing a party at his place on Thanksgiving and wanted to invite me to a turkey and all the trimmings dinner at 2.

He said he would send the sleigh for me if I accepted the invitation.

How can I turn down an invitation from Santa?

WHY would I turn down an invitation for FREE FOOD??????

so, naturally, I said I accepted.

before he hung up, Santa said I could bring guests...to which I said, "COOL!"

and added...."Santa....I'll bring my guitar too....play a little music after dinner..."

he replied..."Fine Billy, ..looking forward to it!"

well...I just about broke a record getting to the TK thread to invite all my friends there....

you guys were of the same mind as me....how could you pass up Santa....and free food?

so, on Thanksgiving Day....Santa sent his sleigh south....and picked us up in reverse order from the North Pole...

by the time we picked up Kim & Cruisin' ! :boat: ....HollyAnn, DalPal, LuckyMommyx2, MaMudDuck, TiggerWannaBe, PrincessaC, ZEN, MMF, MamaJoan and I were sipping hot chocolates and were under nice warm fluffy robes in the sleigh....

Santa remembered all the TK-ers from his vacation trip of course....so, in no time at all....

we were all caught up on the latest news...and chit catting like the good friends we all are....

soon, dinner was announced....Santa gave a welcoming speech....led us in Grace...and we all spoke of what we were thankful for....

it did not escape Santa's notice that we all said we were thankful for our TK friendships....

the turkey was brought out...Santa carved...and an enjoyable and scrumptious meal was had by all...

(to be continued...)

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Nice story, can't wait for more! :hyper:

(Hmmmm, I wonder if my Mom and my FIL will be DISappointed that we're not with them this year??? ) :p

After Dinner....Santa led us into the cavernous family room...

so big it had 2 fireplaces.....huge logs burning in each....e room was warm & cozy....

Santa flpped a couple electrical switches and the room was bathed in the glow of Christmas lights, lighted wreaths....

and a gigantic Christmas tree sparkled in the middle of the room....

the shiny ornaments reflecting the Christmas lights creating the illusion of there being 4 times as many lights...

the garland twinkling as it spiraled up and around the tree....

Santa guided us to the fireplace mantles....showing us his collection of snowglobes....

twisting the knobs of those that played music...

shaking every one of them so we could see the "snow" swirling on the scene in the globe....

then Santa led you guys around the photographs hanging on the walls....

photo's of Chritmases past....

had seen them before...so I set up my guitar, mike and amplfiers...plugging the amps into an outlet by the one fireplace on the east side of the room....

"Billy" Santa said..."I told the elves and elfkins you were playing tonight...let me gather them all in here "...

"Sure Santa...." i said smling....

I asked Santa if this was a solo act....he asked me if the TK-ers were joining me....i said ask them....

you guys got engrossed in the tree all of a sudden....

Santa "HO-HO-HO-ed" at that....and said...maybe an elf or 2 would join me by the fireplace...

and he added.."besides...you know as well as I do that this will turn into a sing-a-long..."

and the elves and elfkins started filing in....i introduced you to each one...

you guys were surprised how well we knew each oteher...and maybe surprised I remembered all their names...

after everybody was seated....and with guitar strapped in front of me...I step to the microphone...

(to be continued...)

"Hello Santa, Thread-Killers, eleves and elfkins alike" i said into the microphone....

"Hello Billy!" they all shouted back...

well...except you guys...it was your first time there....

"For my first song....'Santa Claus s coming to town" is my slection....

"BOO! HISS!! We listen to those songs all year" they yelled teasingly at me....

you guys were shocked...it was your first time there.....

but you knew it was all fun when Santa boomed "HO HO HO" out at the elves and elfkins reactions....

i give as good as I get.....so, I say into the mike...

"well...how 'bout i sing "I saw Mommy kissing Snta Claus"? then"

"YES!!" they roared as one....

you guys were swivel-necking at the banter going back & forth....

but got into the fun of the night as soon as Santa said..."Billy....you sing that song and I'm putting you on the naughty list!"

You guys...(you traitors)...started chanting: "Sing it Billy...sing it Billy"

Santa...( he can be a ham)....got up and went to his big naughty/nice book and flipped the page to my name....and in a Clint Eastwood voice said..."Go ahead....make my day..."

I strummed the tune...and started singing...

I saw Mommy kissing....Santa Claus....

underneath the mistletoe one night..."

my voice was drowned out by Santa's HO HO HO!! ....

and he returned to his seat....laughing as the elves and elfkins sang along....
