Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

I never thought I would say this, but I really am glad I don't have an upcoming trip planned. I feel bad for those who get to be the guinea pigs for the FP+ mess.
We haven't been since 2011 and I'm really wanting to go again, but I'm definitely waiting until the testing is done and things have stabilized.
Actually, I'm thinking maybe a Universal/Sea World trip later this year and hold off on Disney until 2015. Yes, I know Universal doesn't have free Express, but at least I already know how everything works there and how to make it work for us.

I'm with you OP b/c more than likely my next trip will be staying off site. If off site can't book FP+ in advance, I'll have to save up til I can get 2 rooms.at Pop (we have 3 kids and 3 adults and 2 rooms is cheaper than a suite at AoA and I wouldn't have to sleep on a Murphy bed with my niece.) Still waiting to see how things pan out.

I did try FP+ in Dec. It worked OK - I was at Pop and did not have access to FP_. My MBs worked fine but being limited to 3FP+ a day did limit the amount I was able to do...and that was going pretty much open tonclose for 6 days. Next trip will be a one and done for my sis and her family and I know open to close won't be possible. If I'm going to be spending ~$5,000 on flights, lodging and tickets I wanna know what the rules are before I start playing.

I am glad that I dont have a trip booked right now! I will not be going back to wdw for a long time (aka till they fix this whole mess). FP+ is unacceptable to me because you only get 3 fp's a day and at one park nonetheless! In the golden age of legacy fp, I was able to get roughly 7-8 fp's a day & maximize my riding time! I am sorry but my idea of fun is NOT spending $5,000 for a vacation & only getting to ride my fav E-tickets once!

I am heartbroken by the changes wdw is making because I always have had the time of my life in the parks! For "commando" style disney fans, this is such a bummer! :worried:

Or, you know, you could give the new system a try.

WE didn't mind being Guinea Pigs for the testing. Had a great trip early December and cant wait to be back in May. Already getting our new bands set up. It's crazy how many people let a few negative comments of others dictate what they will plan to do. Its fine with all us Guinea Pigs if everyone who is worried stays away and lets us work out the kinks.:thumbsup2

the testing will be done this year two parks have already gotten rid of legacy FP rumor is the other two will be that way by the end of the month. The testing as of late has been going very well. Your vacation should not be ruined by fastpass there was a time 15 years ago when FP wasn't a thing. Also when FP was first announced people didn't think it would work look it did. Now disney is trying to improve the system make it simpler for guests and everyone flips out because of change. It's like when disney gets rid of a ride some people get mad some people are happy. All disney resort guests are on the system and have been for a few months. Off site guests are just getting to using FP+. From the testing that is going on now in AK and MK it's been going very well minimal problems. Biggest problem is getting the people who don't do any research or planning to understand the system. Disney is doing this test in the best way possible. If you don't like a band you don't have to get it ask for a KTTW card instead of wearing a band. Legacy FP is going away and your going to have to get used to it at some point.

I don't think people are resistant to change here. I think they are resistant to BAD change.

1.) I just read in another thread that if you have an ADR you cannot book a FP+ one hour before or two hours after said ADR. So if I have a an ADR for 5:00 pm the latest window before dinner is 3-4 and the earliest after dinner is 7-8. With two ADRs a day it will be a challenge just to use the FP+! That is a terrible restriction.

2.) I also just read that the KTTW cards are going away on January 20 and you will be stuck with MBs - flaws and all.

If Disney created MBs that worked instead of us hearing consistent reports of malfunctions, inability to get in rooms, inability to get in parks, etc., then change would be just fine.

If I could reserve FP+ when I want irrespective of my ADR times, that would be fine. (I understand not allowing a FP+ from 5-6 when your ADR is from 5-6, but the restrictions I am reading about are absurd.

I feel bad for those who aren't going to Disney.
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

A bad Disney Day is still a Disney Day After All

I was there in December and I thought that everything was ok and the FP+ needs some tweaking but not to plan a trip because thingd are changing my answer to you is

OK LESS WAIT TIME FOR ME

Not us, we're going in a little over 3 weeks and I cannot wait! :goodvibes

We don't care about riding the headliners over and over anyway, so I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Absolutely not. I fell in love with Disney before there was even a FP-, so I'm pretty sure I can deal with FP+.

Going in 2 weeks and happy to be Guinea pigs! Cannot wait...and actually very curious to see how it all works!

Yep, us too. We're planning a 2015 trip, and we're ok with not going in 2014.

Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but I can't see any advantages to the nextgen. If I can only use 3 fp's per day & am a ride person, my only option is standby. This may be well and dandy for the slow times, but it will be a nightmare during the busy seasons. Logically, standby lines will increase because people who used to use 3+ legacy fp's will have no other choice but standby.

Or, you know, you could give the new system a try.

Give the new system a try is not the same thing as spend thousands of dollars of your money in order to give the new system a try. If someone thinks the new system is going to put a damper on their vacations, then what is so wrong about holding off until things are sorted out? There's quite a big potential loss if someone is disappointed in their vacation as a result of FP+ and MB.

You don't need to try the system to know that a family who used to get 7-8 MK FP- is going to be impacted when that limit gets cut in half (less, really).

I still don't understand this logic. The same amount of FPs are being distributed, if I understand correctly. I don't see how a difference will be made in the standby line based on who has the fastpasses. The only argument I see there is people may not use their fastpasses. If that's the case, there will be fewer people in the FP line, so the standby line will move faster.

I tend to think the same about this situation as I do about concussion discussion on NFL radio. I hear people call in all the time about "Maybe they should add a layer of foam to the helmets! That way concussions will be reduced!" Yeah, I'm sure the people who get paid to handle the situation never thought about adding a layer of foam. Disney wasn't born yesterday. There are probably hundreds of people working on this situation, and the reality is, it's not likely that anyone on these message boards is more educated on these problems than Disney is. If it was just that simple, they would have fixed it. The point of this system is to keep people out of lines. Disney doesn't want people in lines.

There are plenty of advantages to nextgen. They might not be advantages to you, but lots of people do find advantages.

I won't stop going unless they start requiring a FP for beer. :drinking1

But I've known people who like and want a particular car model and sometimes they wait until the next model year to see how the changes flush out.

I guess if you're spending thousands of dollars on something you do have the right to decide when.

Personally, I'm not glad. I'm sad. Based on our experiences earlier this month, we cancelled our April trip. Our APs are expiring end May so no more Disney trips for us for the foreseeable future.

I want to go back, but we cannot justify the cost of it vs. the actual experience right now. It costs far too much to deal with what we dealt with last trip. Far too much.

So I guess what I'm really saying is that I want to go back in TIME to WDW before they jacked stuff up. ::yes::

Personally, we can't wait until our next trip!!! Hurry up August!!!! (and we were there twice last year, lol) :cool1:

I'm always wanting to be at Disney, but I'm ok that my trip isn't until November. Hopefully more of the kinks will be worked out by then.

I was a "guinea pig" in December, and loved FP+. I think it is sad that so many people are SURE it won't work before they even try it.

For me, I liked knowing ahead of time that I had FPs for the rides I really wanted to do. And it was great not to have to get to the Disney Studios at the crack of dawn in order to ride Toy Story Mania.

I'm a fan of FP+. Takes a lot of the stress away of having to run here and there to check times, and then hoping to get a FP time that works. I already know it will.:)
