Who else is glad they do NOT have a trip planned right now?

Wish I were there now! But I have to wait until the end of March. So far, yet so close. I am zero percent worried about FPP.

But I know not everyone feels the way I do :)

.

I am GLAD that we don't have a trip to WDW planned for the foreseeable future - at least until the dust settles on this mess. But we are also GLAD that we have a trip scheduled to DLR in a few weeks.

I will be snagging a few more paper FPs to put in our personal time capsule.:)

I was a "guinea pig" in December, and loved FP+. I think it is sad that so many people are SURE it won't work before they even try it.

So was I. No KTTW card for us. We had to rely solely on FP+ and it with some strategic planning, it worked. I didn't notice any Standby lines that were outrageous except for the usual suspects (Toy Story Mania I'm looking at you). And before anyone points out that it's during a slow time, it was Pop Warner week. Besides that, we were surprised at the crowds in general, not at all what we had come to expect.

Is it equally sad that so many people are SURE it will work before they even try it?

No. Being positive and having an upbeat attitude is never a bad thing!. And like I said, I've tried it, and I know it works for me. It may not work for others, but so many of them are sure it won't before they have given it a shot. Seems very silly, and kind of sad. But that is the Dis for you. People cry for change, and then when things change, they are upset and outraged.

I am SO wishing I had done that last month. Dang it. Could have put them next to the T-shirt autographed by Ted Nugent that I LOST years ago....

Nope... we leave in 9 days! I am thrilled. I am interested in MBs and FP+. I dont mind the "only 3 FPs". I like the theming of the lines. I like talking to other people. I think 5 was great, but 3 is fine too.

I like new-ness. but that is me. Even if there are some bugs and hiccups I will be at WDW with my family and not at work. That makes me happy

I'm gonna stick with the presumption that a "bad" day at Disney is still a gazillion times better than a "good" day anywhere else.

As a DL person who has only started visiting WDW, I wasn't around when they made the switch to 180 day booking for restaurants. Was there the same level of anger from people about having to decide which restaurant they want to eat at six months before they arrive? If there was, it doesn't seem to have stopped the popular restaurants from immediately booking up - much like I anticipate FP+ won't stop people from coming to the park.

And aren't the "commando" visitors the ones that are going to be at the park at rope drop anyway, riding their favorites 3 or 4 times before the casual visitor has even rolled out of bed? Seems to me that FP+ will guarantee them the chance to ride their favorite(s) again late in the day, at a time when normal FP's would have already run out.

Why?

Let's say someone likes a dish at a restaurant. It's their absolute favourite. This person hates spicy food. The restaurant decides that majority of their customers love spice so they add hot peppers to the dish. Does the person need to try the dish to know they aren't going to like it?

There are aspects of FP+ that people know conflict with their touring styles in a big way. They don't need to try out the system to realize that. It's like if I called someone silly and kind of sad for thinking they're going to like the system before they try it because they think it will work nicely for their family. It's rude.

ETA: The comment you added is completely unfair. Unless those same people were crying for a change to the FP system, you can't try and make them seem "silly" when they don't like the change that was made.

Flawed analogy. You're getting the same product, but less of it and in a different fashion.

I'm with you OP b/c more than likely my next trip will be staying off site. If off site can't book FP+ in advance, I'll have to save up til I can get 2 rooms.at Pop (we have 3 kids and 3 adults and 2 rooms is cheaper than a suite at AoA and I wouldn't have to sleep on a Murphy bed with my niece.) Still waiting to see how things pan out. I did try FP+ in Dec. It worked OK - I was at Pop and did not have access to FP_. My MBs worked fine but being limited to 3FP+ a day did limit the amount I was able to do...and that was going pretty much open tonclose for 6 days. Next trip will be a one and done for my sis and her family and I know open to close won't be possible. If I'm going to be spending ~$5,000 on flights, lodging and tickets I wanna know what the rules are before I start playing.
all the rules are pretty much done changing you still get FP+ if your offsite just as if you were off site before FP+. Instead of going to the different rides to get your FP you just go to a kiosk and get all three at once.

I am glad that I dont have a trip booked right now! I will not be going back to wdw for a long time (aka till they fix this whole mess). FP+ is unacceptable to me because you only get 3 fp's a day and at one park nonetheless! In the golden age of legacy fp, I was able to get roughly 7-8 fp's a day & maximize my riding time! I am sorry but my idea of fun is NOT spending $5,000 for a vacation & only getting to ride my fav E-tickets once! I am heartbroken by the changes wdw is making because I always have had the time of my life in the parks! For "commando" style disney fans, this is such a bummer! :worried:
you know there was a time before FP and that's why they still have a standby line. The new system is not that bad.

Flawed analogy. You're getting the same product, but less of it and in a different fashion.

No, it's not flawed, you're just misunderstanding.

My analogy was meant to show that people can decide if something will work for them or not without trying it. It's condescending and rude to imply otherwise. You like it, good for you. Why is it such a big deal if people don't, even if they haven't physically used it?

I don't think people are resistant to change here. I think they are resistant to BAD change. 1.) I just read in another thread that if you have an ADR you cannot book a FP+ one hour before or two hours after said ADR. So if I have a an ADR for 5:00 pm the latest window before dinner is 3-4 and the earliest after dinner is 7-8. With two ADRs a day it will be a challenge just to use the FP+! That is a terrible restriction. 2.) I also just read that the KTTW cards are going away on January 20 and you will be stuck with MBs - flaws and all. If Disney created MBs that worked instead of us hearing consistent reports of malfunctions, inability to get in rooms, inability to get in parks, etc., then change would be just fine. If I could reserve FP+ when I want irrespective of my ADR times, that would be fine. (I understand not allowing a FP+ from 5-6 when your ADR is from 5-6, but the restrictions I am reading about are absurd.
the ADR things I've never heard of before so I don't know if that's true. I don't think that is true at all. You will not be stuck with them you can still get a card if you want magic bands are just going to be the default. They have been working fine lately most if not all problems are fixed. What you read on here is not always true.

I never thought I would say this, but I really am glad I don't have an upcoming trip planned. I feel bad for those who get to be the guinea pigs for the FP+ mess.
We haven't been since 2011 and I'm really wanting to go again, but I'm definitely waiting until the testing is done and things have stabilized.
Actually, I'm thinking maybe a Universal/Sea World trip later this year and hold off on Disney until 2015. Yes, I know Universal doesn't have free Express, but at least I already know how everything works there and how to make it work for us.

We were guinea pigs for our trip in October and loved every bit of it. Perfect, no, but we had so much fun. Have a tripped planned for August, but keep trying to figure out how to squeeze in a Feb/Jan weekend.

We went in Dec. and had no problem with the bands or the FP+. Going back in April. So why wouldn't we be happy to have a trip planned. :confused3
Nancy princess:

Personally, I'm not glad. I'm sad. Based on our experiences earlier this month, we cancelled our April trip. Our APs are expiring end May so no more Disney trips for us for the foreseeable future. I want to go back, but we cannot justify the cost of it vs. the actual experience right now. It costs far too much to deal with what we dealt with last trip. Far too much. So I guess what I'm really saying is that I want to go back in TIME to WDW before they jacked stuff up. ::yes::
what were your experiences? Everything I've heard from the last month has been pretty good.

Not Us! We went in March and November last year and had a great time both trips! We are in the very early planning stages for a trip next August. I prefer magic bands and so do the kids. It was so much easier to know they always had the room key with them so we didn't have to worry about them losing their kttw cards. We booked our fp+ before we went and most days didn't even use them all and we still went on all the rides we wanted to. I don't think I would ever consider not going to Disney because of something as small as fp+. Something major and absolutely horrible would have to be changed before I would even consider not going.

Shame on these positive people. Dont they realize that the FP+ system will be the downfall of Disney?

Don't they realize the following about FP+

1. Ride rationing. Disney will only let you see 3 attractions with FP+ and God forbid you would ever think about using the SB line. It is insane to wait over 30 minutes for a ride. But it is sane to wait an hour or more to get an autograph of someone dressed up like a character. Priorities!
2. Big Brother controlling them with MBs
3. Yield Management
4. That you can only see attractions with FP+.
5. New Coke
6. Unfair!!!
7. Punitive
8. It will drive away droves to Universal.
9. Park Hopping will be worthless
10. Rope Drop will no longer be an advantage.
11. Its just in testing. What you liked before, you will not like in the future due to changes.
12. FP+ will increase standby lines.
13. Magic Bands are crap and do not work most of the time
14. FP+ will cause people to be on their phones more in the parks
15. MDE is broke!

I think you positive folks need to listen more to the wisdom of those who do not like the new system.

No Dole Whips for You!
