Once again the female of the household here - I do all of the planning AND packing....my fiance just plays along. In fact when I bought in I was on a trip with my mom and right before I signed the contract she says, "shouldn't you call Adrian and see what he thinks first?" I replied with "I guess I could, but since it's my name on the papers and he get's delux accomodations at Disney every year for the next 50 I think he'll be OK with it." So I call from the guide's phone, give him the 30 second run down and he replies with "So what you are telling me is you found a way for us to go every year and stay in NICER places than we already do now - sign up!"

I also plan for me entire family and most of our friends - I make them color coded schedules in Waltograph font outlining their dining plans and park schedules - they love it....

I am a bit OCD which I believe most of us on the DIS are (you may not admit it but if you really look inside yourself.....lol) I enjoy the planning process, and change my mind all the time - until it's booked it is subject to change! In fact last week my fiance and I were talking about our upcoming wedding trip and he said "The only thing I know for sure is that I think we are staying somewhere around the boardwalk area and I know for sure we're going to eat good food". We are in fact staying at BWV (hopefully if I get what i want at exactly 9 AM on Feb 18...) and on the DDP so he is right on both counts.

I am not downing men - I know darned well there are many men who can outplan me in an instant and who give me great advice on these boards, just not the particular one that I am marrying!

I do the planning in our family, but I know the things, restaurants and the resorts that my DW likes and try to keep her happy.

I have a theory that the spouse (or SO) that is more into Disney is usually the one doing the planning. My wife loves the mouse but not as much as me.

My DH wants to know where we're going but I love doing all the planning. I don't think he wants to be bothered, plus I wouldn't let him since I want to. My friend and I love talking all things DVC.

I am the Disney Diva here. Like several other DHs here, mine wouldn't know the first thing about how to call MS. I found the contract, made the bid and planned all the trips. I usually run a couple of scenarios by him, but end up booking what I want because it doesn't matter to him until we actually get there. DH doesn't like to be asked what he wants to have for dinner until at least 4:00 on any regular day, so asking him about ADRs 180 days out is pointless! :thumbsup2

I voted that we are both involved equally. However, I handle the DVC bookings, banking our points, annual dues, etc. DH helps me plan out our park touring strategies and helps me decide what stuff we want to focus on each trip. I am just the more organized of the two of us, so it's a natural fit for me to handle the nuts and bolts of the DVC membership.

I'm the DVCOCP (DVC Obsessive Compulsive Planner) in the house. My husband is much more fly by the seat of his pants type (he was the one that said lets buy into the Disney Vacation Club without knowing anything about it) ;) He now relies on my pre-planning and actually gets miffed when were are on vacation and there is a lull in my telling him what to do and where to go next. :lmao:

Most of our vacations have been planned out at least a year in advanced, but this past Dec we took a last minute adults only DL trip due to low SWA ticket prices. I couldn't believe I was putting my tourning plan together the day before we left . Even still I booked a ressie at Napa Rose so we could spend our Disney Rewards $. The morning of we were riding the bus to the parks and started talking with a family about the F! reserved seating. My husband said 'that sounds fun, let's use our D$ for that instead of Napa Rose'. Within minutes I was on the phone booking seats for that night. That night in the reserved seats I couldn't believe I was sitting there watching F! having not booked months in advance! I missed out on the whole anticipation build up! :goodvibes

I do all of the leg work for timeframe, location, size of the room, travel plans, dining. Then my wife says yes or no to each. She is the boss.

This seems familiar. Are you me in an alternate universe? ;) **

** if you are me in an alternate universe, do we ever win the lottery

We do it together. Since we are both going at that time, we need to agree when we're going and where we are staying. We do lots of things together.

But Bill does the yard work. I do the laundry. He cleans the bathrooms (great guy!!) and I do the taxes. He keeps track of the Mutual Funds. I pay the bills. We both make the bed in the morning. And we both make our own lunch to take to work - where we eat together nearly every day (we both work for the same Federal Government Dept - just different services).

I do most of the planning. DH works overseas and when he's away I have lots of time to think, plot, plan, etc. He gets so lonesome for me that he agrees to just about anything I propose - :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I know it's not very fair, but.......

In reality, I usually suggest the dates. I give him the option of selecting the resort. I do all the phone calling to MS. I get suggestions of activities, restaurants, remind him when to make his golf reservations, etc.

So it is kind of a joint plan.

Oh, and he decides when to buy more points.:banana::love::love:

This twin thing is getting a little spooky, I didn't know there was another me and DH out there :rotfl:

I swear my DH and I are the same way. We both work for the same State Official, before I moved offices, we used to eat lunch together every day. He does the yard work, I do the laundry...

For our first couple of trips it was mostly me (wife) but now that my dh has a few trips under his belt, he does quite a bit of the planning. He usually makes reservations that we have mutually decided on because he has better access to a phone during business hours.

Makes for a happy relationship, yes????

I do all the planning for my clan, we are 6, thats cool and no biggie....but I DO IT EVERYDAY.....At night..At lunch....I think about it on my commute to DC every day (that ride makes me insane, unless Disney is bouncing through my head) I MAY have a problem...I will have to bring it up with my shrink next year when its time for more prescriptions;)

My oldest (active duty) says "sounds good, I will meet you there" but really does dig it like me!!!

I have two 16yo DD's one of which is a nut like me... we were barely stopped at the door last week by DW, as we were gonna last minute a rope drop the next morning by driving all night. The other DD likes to cruise, so we are doing both in September....:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

DW swears I am nuts for the amount of thought I put into disney:sad2: but loves the results!! we were stationed in FLA for 12 years (Port Canaveral-St Pete-Key West) and only went a few times...We move to Virginia and retire from the CG and I find the dis' when I was looking to rent a villa...next thing you know, I own sight unseen....went for two weeks in June...jumping right into the AKV GV for the next trip....Yes..I think I may be nuts pirate:

In our house it's me, and my DW is quite happy with it that way. We do talk about what kinds of things we might enjoy in a given trip - and I always try hard to incorporate some of what we'd both like, but when it comes down to it, I do the planning & organizing and then she "shows up". As long as I make sure to have some relaxing time for her, she's all good.

Same here. I will have to say that WDW and DVC are pretty much the only things that I do the planning and legwork on, my DW pretty much runs the household.
Exactly the same here Bob. She also used to plan the vacations until we joined DVC. Now it is my baby. I always ask for opinions from her and my 4 ds, but ultimately they are happy with any resort as long as it is WDW or VB.

I do all the planning, and then I check with my DH to make sure he is okay with everything. I'm an obsessive planner, and I don't think I could give the control over to my DH. The only exception was when we were already at Vero Beach in June, and he wanted to add another night. He took care of that.
