In general the media tends to be intellectually lazy. The comparison is intended to cause controversy. Is that what you are doing?
At the end of the video posted above, she is asked if a black man pictured is her dad. She answers, Yup, that's my dad! Very nice, how does her white dad feel about her denying his existence I wonder?
If you are 50% black and 50% white, can you really claim to be either?
How "black" do you have to be to qualify for a scholarship intended for blacks?
I don't recall reading anything that said the scholarship she got was intended for blacks (or being black was a requirement).
Her birth parents were on GMA this morning. Apparently they do not get along and are estranged.
So this acknowledged liar is the "victim" you choose to defend?I can't help but think her extreme persona/lifestyle change stems more from this beef she has with her parents and less to do with her identifying as a black person. There's something creepy going on with that whole family. Her biological brother is being investigated for child molestation. The parents came out with this news about her true racial origin just as she was about to take the stand against her biological brother.
I'm thinking something is going on with those parents that caused her to change literally everything about herself and force them out of her life.
WTH? Who is defending her? I think she is crazy in the head and something made her that way. Was it her family? I have no idea.So this acknowledged liar is the "victim" you choose to defend?
What could she have possibly said on the stand that would have been helpful? A large portion of her life is full of shall we say...fibs. It's better that her deliberate "befuddlement" about her identity came out the way it did rather than in probable perjury on the stand.I can't help but think her extreme persona/lifestyle change stems more from this beef she has with her parents and less to do with her identifying as a black person. Her parents didn't come out with anything. They were asked a question by a reporter and told the truth.I can't help but think her extreme persona/lifestyle change stems more from this beef she has with her parents and less to do with her identifying as a black person. I don't think her parents "came out" with the news at all. They kept quiet and let her do what she did (lie) until they were contacted by the press very recently. Upon being asked point blank if they were Rachel's bio parents, they told the truth. That is not outing her. The timing was not of their own making. They simply did not back up her lie and who can blame them? She pretends one of their children (her adopted brother) is her own son. The paperwork does not lie. The bio parents have a birth certificate and adoption papers for their 4 adopted children. Rachel, however, invented her story. One that was of enormous advantage to her...while it lasted.I can't help but think her extreme persona/lifestyle change stems more from this beef she has with her parents and less to do with her identifying as a black person. Actually, some people are starting to question that notion:Either way, she is Caucasian per her parents/lineage. She cannot claim otherwise.
From what I have gathered, her parents did not initiate the contact with the media. The media started snooping into her background when the latest claim of a hate crime was proven to be false and she was suspected of putting the letter in the PO Box.I can't help but think her extreme persona/lifestyle change stems more from this beef she has with her parents and less to do with her identifying as a black person. From your quote: "..... whether there’s a way to describe “the achievement of blackness despite one’s parentage."Actually, some people are starting to question that notion:
