What are my chances of getting the Whistler resort for 2010 Olympics at the 7 month window?

Also does anyone think that the resort will black out this time period?

I don't think the resort will black out the time period (although they could) but I do think it is going to be VERY difficult to get.

You do not need to wait until the 7-month window though. Interval International exchanges can be requested up to 2 years in advance. I would think that the earlier you request this the more likely you'll be to get something, although I do think it will be tough.

Good luck!

I think your chance of getting any room anywhere for the Olympics are somewhere between slim and none! All the rooms are already booked or blocked by VANOC.

There are companies that will have registries of personal properties that are being rented out for the Olympics but I don't think any of them are beyond the gathering of willing home owners stage yet.

O k I knew it was a long shot but thought I would ask anyway.

And I did try to book through Disney but it is way to early for them.

I think this is in the Club Intrawest Collection instead of Interval International. You may want to ask Disney what the earliest date is for you to try to get this resort.

That is a reallly cool idea!

Good Luck!

Keep in mind that the olympic events themselves may be out of reach. We live 3 hours from Atlanta, but were young and poor in '96. We only attended 1 event, and that was a preliminary USA Soccer match in Birmingham, Alabama.

It seems like back then most venues were over $100/ticket, and the stuff you really wanted to see was outrageous. It seems like we considered equestrian and diving, but didn't go. Nosebleed seats for gymnastics was about $200 and opening/closing ceremonies started at $600/ticket. (That was 1996 prices too!)

I know its impossible to compare Winter/Summer games, but I bet the ticket prices will still be pretty high. If you think you'll get great seats for Figure Skating for $20 -- think again.

If it is in Interval International property (and there are at least 2 in Whistler) then it isn't too early. You can put your exchange request in up to 2 years in advance. I assume the Olympics will be in February 2010 so you are well within that 2-year period. I'd give MS another call. BTW, they probably will not be able to make the exchange for your right then. You'll probably have to go on the waitlist but doing that as early as possible will be key to trying for this reservation.

I know some of the Whistler timeshares had a lottery for the Olympic weeks. I think the people that got lucky will use them or rent them out for the big $$$.

Yes, Whistler is a Club Intrawest property and the earliest you can book them via DVC is 4 months.

Good luck.
