I do not think the price per point will be much lower than any other resort. While RIV was being built, there were speculations about a "moderate DVC" with lower buy in. That, we know, didn't happen. They don't want to discount their product, price may vary a little, but it'll always be in the same region.

But there's the reality that FW is a moderate resort and the transportation is less than ideal with theninternal bus before you reach transportation to the parks.
tthey' plussing the resort, but ther's going to be campsites and RV parking a short walk away too.
I think the rack rates for current cabins at FW are lower than any other DVC studio.
The reasonable thing to do, would be to have a point chart similar to RIV studios and advertise "a 1BR for the cost of a studio". Similarly like the THV were "3BR for the price of a 2BR" and they were very popular at the time (we know how that ended, but that's a different story). That would gather a lot of interest from members.

But they're greedy, so they'll probably have a point chart in the region of a 1BR. I hope they'll be similar to AKV value 1BR and not RIV 1BR.

If they start sales around the same time, wouldn’t they miss some revenue. Seems they always raise the base price for direct resorts right before each new resort starts selling. If they wait some number of months between the two, they can have two price increases. It could make any incentives look good compared to the other properties. Add on CFW as opposed to __ at the new price. Then add on at tower as opposed to __ now priced at even higher price.

Only the small percentage of us who watch DVC closely notice. For most buyers, the emails, Disney advertising, and guides are all they know about prices.

Prior to VDH coming in higher than the other active resorts, typically the new resort starts the same….though with the raise to VGF to match could simply mean it was timing.

But, they have always only had one main project and one winding down. This new model of multiple active selling at once is a new one.

Looking at how sales have played out since VGF and RIV were selling together, the total sales numbers have been good.l.even if each individual resort went through times when their own sales were not.

Now, add in VDH this summer, and total sales are up. I see this as a potential change to DVds model…instead of having one resort for sale, they have options for buyers.

I do think that by the time Poly tower and FW cabins begin sales, all base pricing, including for RIV and AUL will be the same. They raised RIV and AUL to $217 last December….my guess is it will be going to $230 end of this year or beginning of year, before they introduce the two new products.

The difference in pricing will be the incentives…like they had to do with RIV and VGF…and they flipped them when they wanted to gear sales to one or the other….

Interesting that you mention that. I posted this in another thread, but I think that it's relevant here:

I keep forgetting, starting sales for multiple resorts starting sales so close together isn't new. This is a repeat of 2008-2009. AKV Kidani, SSR THV, BLT, and VGC all opened in 2009. We regret not buying BCV direct when we first looked at DVC, but the incentives DVD offered in 2009 were incredible.

They can generate interest by it being the cheapest way to get 6 people in a DVC property via the point charts.
I agree that this will be a marketing point.

Well, yes, that's one reason we never wanted to stay there again after our very first WDW visit in 1994. OTOH, Disney could decide to change the system to resemble OKW and SSR - one bus per park that circulates through the complex then heads to the designated park, instead of having the two-bus system.

I voted “none of the above” because I think Disney is waiting to see how VGF is doing before deciding when to start marketing Poly Tower. Those two are by far the most similar active resorts, and I think they’d prefer to market each as the only game in town on the monorail loop. It sounds like VGF could be nearly sold out by the end of the year if everybody closes on the pending contracts picked up until early September. If it’s not close to sold out, they might wait to roll out the details of Poly tower a little bit longer.

I am also of the opinion that Disney hasn’t made a final decision on whether or not Poly Tower is a new association yet.

I am amazed Disney has never offered a boat service between all the MK area resorts. (FW, WL, CR, Poly, and GF). It would make it convenient for guests at these resorts to attend restaurants at other resorts. It would also alleviate some of the monorail traffic.

I don’t get the love for the boat system. When we go from our home resort of Poly to eat at WL or FW, it’s regularly a 45+ min ordeal. The ride alone from MK is often long and fraught with delays.

The last time we ate at Artist Point, we did the boat there and it took over an hour from Poly. We then decided to Uber back and I had no idea how close the two resorts actually are. 5 minutes and 7$ later and we were home

They used to….
And to some extent still do

Kinda

But not the way you are thinking

At one point one boat went MK WL FW.
Another boat went WL CONTP. MK
And finally one went Poly GF MK

Not sure when the stopped maybe COVID era

The Poly, GF, MK boat still operates. We love it. Maybe our favorite part of staying at Poly/VGF is not having to get on a crowded bus or monorail. It might be slower but it’s so much more pleasant to feel the wind in your hair and enjoy the scenery around the lake.

Wait until the skipper overloads the boat.....
Does that boat still run to both resorts and the MK or does each resort have a boat now?

Uber/Lyft is absolutely going to be faster. Same holds true for trips to parks (except MK).

For us, the boats are slower but we find the water to be peaceful and tranquil. Encountered too many Florida drivers and/or tourist running red lights, speeding, hydroplaning. I have been standing on a bus at the front. A driver ran a red light in front of our bus. Bus driver slammed on the brakes to avoid the crash. Fortunately, I saw this happening and held on tight to the rails. I was the only thing preventing DW and possibly others from going through the windshield.

20 years ago, I never realized how bad drivers are in Florida. Don’t know if I was naive or if things have become worse?

In the time we have owned at BLT, we have never scene a boat go from Contemporary to MK. There was a boat that went CR, WL, and FW. This is the one that was just announced to be returning.

Personally would love a larger/single boat that stops at all places. Epcot area boats stop at the following location…DHS, Swan/Dolphin, BW, BC, Epcot. It is one of our favorite parts about the Epcot area resorts.

It was shared boat in September and April on our last two trips.

We’ve taken it several times and never seen anybody have to stand. Do they even allow standing while the boat is in motion?

Yes they do. We've had to stand on the boat coming back to WL from MK before when it was really busy, like at closing time. And while it's a different boat system prior to buying into DVC our resort of choice was Yacht Club - stayed there many times. I can't even tell you how many times we've had to stand on the Friendship boats at the end of the night coming back from HS.

But even with that, I'll take a relaxing boat ride over the bus or monorail any day. It's my favorite form of Disney transportation. The Skyliner is a close second though.

I have never seen a friendship swamped ….
The converted sailed boat hull launches, they don’t fair as well with a load of people standing in the stern…

Then you have been very lucky. Have stood on those boats many times. In fact just this past May we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano and took the boat there from Epcot. Standing room only.
