Then you have been very lucky. Have stood on those boats many times. In fact just this past May we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano and took the boat there from Epcot. Standing room only.
Swamped means the water is running in the scuppers …. Not the standing room I have seen that

No problem, after your post I saw how swamped could be misunderstood....
I always knew the meaning of the idiom but never knew the origin meant to be filled or filling with water as in a vessel. Love learning something new every day and today this is it.

I garner interest in DVC mainly from these pages and I haven't seen much spoken about the cabins. Considering many think they'll be online first before Poly yet no one is really talking about them then yes I'd have to say there is less interest...as of now anyway. If they come out with a beautiful cabin and/or direct pricing in the $140s let's say then I think there's going to be quite an influx of interest.
I doubt that the cost per point will be different than other new direct contacts. My guess is the savings will be in the CFW point charts.

In the time we have owned at BLT, we have never scene a boat go from Contemporary to MK. There was a boat that went CR, WL, and FW. This is the one that was just announced to be returning.
If this return works out to be permanent, it, combined with the new "cabins" at FW, could be a very attractive combination for some of our (extended) family trips. I could see us booking part of the family at BLT and part of the family (who prefer to travel with their dog) at the new "cabins" at FW. It would give us the best of both worlds (a more Deluxe experience at BLT, perhaps with a MK view for the whole fam to enjoy the fireworks, with the rustic and dog friendly cabins at FW, which we like to visit for the campfire and hoop-dee-doo in any case). Agree that the boats are not the quickest, but between Contemporary and FW it's not terribly onerous and it's more about relative convenience of having something simple and (nearly) direct.

If the pathway between WL and FW is restored, it combined with the boats would also make an attractive combo for us.

Do you think that the current points needed to rent a cabin via the Disney Collection exchange is a good indicator ? It seems to be double the regular points.

Speculating what happens at Fort Wilderness is way more fun than the Old/New Association ? at the Poly IMHO! Regardless of whether it appeals to you, allowing Dogs taps a new demand pool (a WIN for DVC). The Moderate/Deluxe question is interesting--adding amenities and rebranding the cabins as Deluxe would be more consistent from a DVC branding perspective, but that might be hard to pull off at Fort Wilderness (especially since I think they want to do this one 'on the cheap' but I could be wrong).
As for me, if they created a small dog friendly DVC wing at Yacht Club I would pay $300/point, but I'm not so sure about Fort Wilderness....

Good idea on the family staying at separate resorts but having boat access between theme. I will have to mention this to my family.

We really like the relaxing boat ride between FW, WL, and CR but we are ocean/lake/water people.

If they keep them similar to existing cabins, we would only buy/stay there if the point charts brought them closer to studio prices. Hard to have VGF deluxe studios and PVB studios with 2 shower areas but cabins with only 1 (despite sleeping 6).

Personally, I hope they plan to bring Reflections back and have Cabins + Reflections as one resort with a Aulani caliber pool area. Thinking River Country.

Since they're repeating the "mistake" of having a stand alone DVC resort with mainly one type of room category, my guess is there are plans for a 2.0 expansion of FWC to include a Reflections type resort. There were initial plans released of an "expansion" tower for Poly when it first went on sale. Of course, the huge debate now is are they completing those initial plans with Poly2 or is a stand alone DVC.

If they do go ahead with Reflections in a few years, I'm sure we'll have the same argument all over again wondering if it'll be it's own association or part of the FWC DVC; and everyone who wants to buy into Reflections won't want all the cabin people to have access at 11 months and vice-versa.

With the application for FT Wilderness cabins timeshare license last week I changed my vote to FWC sales starting first. I also think the timing of the return of the boats between WL, CR and FW is a sign that they are moving in the direction of sales there first.

The speculation regarding Reflections coming back like the Poly Tower is an interesting side thought and quiet possible. We all know with all things Disney stuff changes but I can see where thinking long term Reflections could move back on the table.

Also as a person who has an allergy to dogs and a son with a severe allergy to dogs I like the idea of offering a DVC resort to accommodate those who are dog lovers and want to bring their pets, there is no change once the contract is signed you know going in your pet will be welcomed and for those that want to avoid dogs they know what resort to avoid. As much as we could go back and forth regarding if it can be considered Deluxe or not I don't think that matters as there are a section of people who are loyal to FW and their pets and I believe those are the ones DVC is targeting.

As for point charts or point cost which will be higher I have no idea. Arguments could be made for both but I do think with the CCR cabins and the Poly bungalows DVD over estimated their demand and over priced their point cost so hopefully they have learned their lesson.
