Want to add on at location other than
WDW. Which do you like better HH or VB? Which is the better buy, do you think, for me with small child?

Personally, I wouldn't own at either. If I had to, I would definitely pick HH over VB. VB would give the willies to own. DVC has dratically reduced the size and scope of the original planned resort because of poor sales. HH wasn't all that much better, but at least it is in an already thriving vacation area and has the Disney name.

VB dues are the highest, the sales are the slowest and its reduction in scale leads me to believe that HH will be a better, safer buy.

Disclaimor: This is not to say that VB is not a beautiful resort. It is very truly one of the finest in the world. It location and expense priced it our of the regular timeshare market.

I like Vero Beach better than HH. I like the beach being accessible by foot, the much longer vacation season, restaraunts on site, and the option to do a part beach, part WDW vacation while down in Florida.

HH season is shorter, and so I believe owners are puching for the summer months, so the 11 month window is very important there.

It's impossible to say one is better than the other IMHO. Each may suit differing people slightly more or less depending on the situation.

Vero would suit better if you mostly fly direct to Orlando and wanted to use it as a "few days extra" destination along side an Orlando vacation.

HH is a little more of a "stand alone" vacation destination IMHO and can be used without going to Orlando at all. It may also suit people from the North-Eastern States who mostly drive down as it is a good "stop off" point on the way down or back.

Both are top class resorts in their own right and to try to compare side by side is impossible ( and pointless)

we own at the bw but we like vb and hh much better. We get a little tired of all the hustle and bustle of disney world. I beleive that owning at hh is better so as to use the 11-month window for summer vacations. I beleive that vb is a better deal with mb. I would love to do an add on at either.

Of the two, I think VB is the better resort by far. Having said that, I think that owning at HH makes more sense with the lower dues and the fact that VB is usually easier to get into with the 7 month window for truly desirable time of the year, at least the part most people would want to visit. I would have trouble owning at either other than maybe an add on package unless I planned to go to the home resort most years (at least 3 of 4) or wanted to use my points part of the time at WDW. As timeshares go there are more versatile timeshares out there that fit the bill for a FL beach vacation or for HH, especially for HH.

IMO, for off WDW timeshares to be a viable option for DVC, they need a number of resorts to give variety, much like Marriott. Say some 10-12 off site resorts minimum at places like HI, CO, CA, Key West, Williamsburg, Brandson and New Orleans for the US then MX, Aruba, etc around the world. There really needs to be enough quality resorts at common destination places where one can be a member and most people would not really want or need to venture outside the system, again like Marriott. Of course the other approach would be to put DVC at all of the Disney parks but I fear that selling off the Newport Beach location to Marriott sealed that fate.

The best thing about both of these resorts is that you don't have the lure of the WDW parks staring at you 24/7. Many adults can handle going to the Orlando DVC resorts and after many past visits to the parks enjoy the ambiance of the resorts without venturing into the parks. Many of us have our own little ones or grandchildren and as the cost of tickets at WDW continues to soar visits are getting to be more and more expensive. With HH and Vero it is not an issue, because no ticket media is required. We hope to visit Vero sometime in the future so I can't comment as to if it is better than HH. We love HH for the resort that it is and not what it is not. It as good a place as you will ever find in today's world for a good family vacation.

You should buy where you plan to vacation. We usually stay at Disney and Vero in the same vacation, so it made sense for us to add on at Vero. It also helps that Vero is our favorite DVC resort. But both Vero and HH are beautiful, so you can't go wrong with either, as long as you buy where you plan to vacation.

We own at both HH and Vero. We also have points at OKW. THey all have their pluses.

We each vacation different. So as some one pointed out it is important to BUY where YOU want to vacation!

You have all been so helpful. I am trying to compare the two, even though they may be different, because these are the two that I am deciding between.

I think it may be more difficult to get a reservation at HH if you don't have the 7 month window as a nice poster mentioned that the season is shorter. I don't think I would go there every year, maybe every third year, so I would only need enough points to bank, borrow and use current year points for a week long trip. I will need to look that info up.

I would like to also add on at VB, because we loved it. It was so peaceful and relaxing. I am a little worn on the hustle bustle of WDW. It worked out very well for us to complete our vacation at VB. It was the perfect ending. I often leave WDW feeling like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation. I would like to add on about fifty points there, enough for a few days there.

I only wish I had the money to pay for all of this!!!!!!!!!
