I see that U/S offers several different annual passes. Which is the cheapest AP that allows you to get the AP rate at the hotels? It looks like the $129 Power Pass doesn't give hotel discounts.

Is it the $189 AP (I think it's called Preffered?)

Also, If I have the correct AP, how many rooms can I apply the rate to? ( I believe Disney lets you reserve 3 rooms at once with the discounted rate.)

Thanks all!

I am interested in this question as well. It is totally unclear to me which discount is the best at Universal hotels, and I don't know where to look!

Preferred ($189) and the Premier ($200+) are the APs that get you hotel discounts...the Power AP doesn't get you hotel discounts..AND it has blackout dates you can't use it on.

I think you can only reserve 1 room w/ your AP, but I'm not sure of this

Mainebound: usually AAA or the Supersaver rate (at UO website) is the best....next best is the APH rate, but that usually comes out after the AAA and any current deals from UO. Usually, not always, it's cheaper to book room and tickets separately, but you have to do the math....if you need help, post your specific plans and ask us for help!

We always do buy our tix separately, esp. with the 5 day bonus passes (or whatever they call them now) which you cannot beat.

I booked already at HRH for March and it is like $300+ a night for a basic garden room, so I am really hoping to lower it. We have AAA (we get our WDW and USO tix there already) so I guess I will have to check back and "apply the AAA rate"?

It it like WDW discount codes, where you have to be right on it or all the room are sold out very fast?

Thanks!

They block most rooms out for AAA rate, so you shouldn't have a problem "switching" your current rate to AAA rate, but I would do it as soon as the rates are available anyway....

ditto

call and have your ressie modified to the AAA rate.
once the discounted rooms are gone you can't get it even if you already have a standing ressie.

You can book as many rooms as you have APs including kid's APs. I personally called USO to ask this question.
We are 2 adults and 2 kids and I was told we could book 4 rooms at AP rate but must book 1 passholder in each room, so to get that rate for say my parents coming with us, I'd have to put 1 of my kids or myself into my parents room. I was told they don't care where we sleep, we just have to book that way.
Also the Preferred Annual Pass is only $99 to renew, whereas the Power Pass would renew at whatever the going rate is at that time for a new pass. kwim?
We just added 2 nts. of UO to our Nov. Disney trip and got $139/nt for RPR whereas the AAA rate is $191.20. (We could have gotten obstructed view at HRH for just $144 but I thought my parents would like the tropical atmosphere at RPR more.)
I guess it depends on how many nts you're staying whether it's worth buying a PAP.

Does the AAA rate have block out dates. I had trouble getting that rate over Christmas and wonder if it will be available at Easter.

Going back to the 'What's your date and rate' thread ( http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1322866 ), it looked like Easter had AAA available.... I don't think AAA is available at Christmas tho.... (but I've never tried at that time of the year....but, according to the thread, it looks like all rack rates for that week)

I was told that there are only so many rooms allotted at the AAA rate and once they sell out, it's only rack rate left.
