princess: Can you recommend a place/or website to get a nice princess costume? It will be DD4's first time dining(lunch) at the castle on our upcoming trip in May.
The Disney Store has no more costumes since after Thanksgiving. I've checked Ebay and am not enthusiastic about the selection right now.

I'm thinking either Aurora(pink is her fav. color) or Cinderella(recent birthday theme). She's been Snow White for Halloween 2 years ago but passed the costume on to another little girl. princess:

Walmart actually has a nice selection. There are some in boxes and I wouldn't recommend those but the hang up ones are nice. They have what they call "deluxe" princess dresses for about 20-25 bucks. My girls have every one of them and they took them all on our last trip

It's an e-bay store. I got a beautiful yellow Belle dress there. It was $20, and I think it's much nicer than the official Disney version.

I just ordered DD7 3 costumes from www.littledressupshop.com for Christmas. They had a special for $68 I believe. One is $26 and includes shipping. I think they are the best thing since sliced bread. DD has had the Walmart ones and ones from The Disney Store, but always complalined that they were uncomfortable and itchy. These are very soft satiny and velor costumes. My DD wanted the red Belle dress for Christmas and we ordered that, CInderella, and a Rapunzel one. I would definately check her web site because they are great. Fast shipping too. I ordered on Friday and they were here Monday am. The red Belle on disneydirect.com was $54 so I think I got a steal!

I just called disneyshopping today and got one for my little one. I don't have much confidence that I'll get it though since is the THIRD time I've tried it. we'll see.

I must admit to being a little disappointed with the Deluxe dress-up trunk from Disneyshopping.com. We bought it for DD for Christmas when it was on clearance this summer. I was really hoping she would be able to wear a costume out of that trunk for her birthday party at Cinderella's Royal Table when we visit WDW in May. But, alas, that is not going to work! The costumes in that trunk are definitely just for dressing up. They will be great for dress- up, don't get me wrong! But, the skirt is total itchy nylon tulle -- she was complaining 3 minutes after wearing it. And, it's totally transparent -- I'm not sure what I would put underneath it so that it would look like a skirt.
So, I really need to find a costume -- not a dress-up costume. I was excited to find this thread. I just checked out littledressupshop.com and just LOVE the way their costumes look.

I just have a question for those of you that have ordered a princess costume from them. I really love the Cinderella costume but I noticed that it says the picture shows it with the "fulness slip". Have you bought that? If not, does the costume still look cute, or do you wish you had bought the extra slip?

Thanks so much for any advice on the "fulness slip".

Hi, I dont know how much you are willing to spend, but we always use Tasha. Here is her link. My dd has always gotten special attention at Disney. We are having her a custom applique set done right now for our ADRS. Here is a link to some of her past designs.... Her set usually run around 200.00. A little pricey, but worth every penny....

I'm not sure who would have costumes now, seems like pre-Halloween is the best time to find some deals. In the past, I have seen dress-up "Princess" costumes at Costco, also at Target & Wal-Mart. If you're at all handy, there might even be patterns at a sewing store.

good luck,
agnes!

avoid the dress up trunk or what ever it is called. my dd got one for christmas - the box looks like cinderellas carriage. what a bunch of crap. the sizing is all inconsistent, the things are barely basted togehter and the shoe sizes are completely inconsistent with the dress sizes (the shoes are big enough for my almost 6 year old sons)

I got my dd's dress from a local kids boutique. It is not official disney and it is soft, comfortable and very well made. It was far and away the nicest dress at the lunch when we were there. Other moms were asking me where I got it. It is by a company called puppet something.

If you are willing to spend the money, you can purchase a princess dress at any disney park or DTD. They run about $60. Unfortunately for some of princess dresses only come in size xs and not xxs for the petite toddlers. These are very different then those sold at the Disneystore or Disneyshopping.

If you are still looking, I just saw our local Target has the Cinderella dresses on sale for 9.98. Looks like the sizing is for 3+ and then 4-6x.
