Where The Wild Things Are!!! ~ BOX OFFICE #1 HIT!!! ~

Do ratings change at all AFTER a movie has been released? Just curious.

Yes, they do. The neat thing about rottentomatoes is that they also take ratings from minor website reviewers. These "lesser" reviewers often don't get tickets to the screeners, so they have to wait until the actual movie comes out. By tomorrow night, the rating will have settled to within 1% point of where it will end up.

As I said, I would still see this movie if you like the book. There are many movies that RT has being "rotten" (less than 60% approval) which I enjoy. But usually those are only comedies. Reviewers tend to be really harsh on comedies. On about everything else, RT is about spot on.

'Where The Wild Things Are' Is Atop The Box Office
Spike Jonze's adaptation is #1

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "Where the Wild Things Are" ($32.5 million)
#2 "Law Abiding Citizen" ($21.3 million)
#3 "Paranormal Activity" ($20.3 million)
#4 "Couples Retreat" ($17.9 million)
#5 "The Stepfather" ($12.3 million)

The monsters of Maurice Sendak's classic children's book "Where the Wild Things Are" leapt from the illustrated page to the big screen this weekend, courtesy of Spike Jonze's directorial vision — and the results were, well, wild.

"Wild Things" easily took the top spot at the box-office during its debut weekend with a very respectable $32.5 million intake. The road wasn't always easy for the adaptation, however, as production on "Wild Things" was plagued by a multitude of delays and setbacks. Even now, many reviews suggest that Jonze's movie is bleaker than the typical family film, but that doesn't appear to have deterred its box office prospects by any means.

I took my family to see "Where the Wild Things Are" last Friday and we were all very disappointed. The movie is very dark and strange. The costuming and effects were pretty cool, but that was really the best thing about the movie (IMHO). It seemed like the movie was more about cinematography than telling a good story.

My children are 5, 7, & 8. The 5 & 7 year old would have fallen asleep if the movie had been a little longer and quieter. The 8 year old said she would give the movie 2-3 stars out of 5. Dh and I both did not care for it.

I had not heard that much about the movie and did not know about the PG rating before hand. I wish that I had researched it a little more before we decided to go, because our assumption was that it was based on a kids book so it must be a kids movie.

Just my 2 cents for what it is worthpopcorn::.

I went and saw this movie this Saturday - I liked it. I think it is more for adults who liked the book as a child and for kids older than 10-11. My 12 year old neice loved it and its now her #1 movie.

I'm curious how it will hold up the second weekend once the regular Joe on the street talks about how they liked it. I am all for kids books being made into GOOD movies.
