Where is best on 4th July

We are going to be there for Independence Day, where do you think the best place would be. One of the parks or somewhere completely different in Orlando.

At home! Seriously though, the parks will be full to capacity so "somewhere else" would be best.

I think I would be inclined to give the parks a miss on July 4th personally, but if you don't mind crowds (lots of them!) then go for it

There are some spectacular fireworks displays at WDW on July 4th so what about tea at one of the MK resort hotels and then strolling outside to watch the fireworks? 'Ohana at the Polynesian resort is a good choice for this

We were at DW last 4th July, we avoided the parks but watched the fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian a fab view.

hi i will be in the 'world' from the 6th july for two weeks ,
ive heard that the whole week that as the 4th july in is very bizzy ...

but how bizzy ...is it really that bad and how long for..do americans stay fro a week or two and do they come saturday to saturday or what ???

any info welcome

We spent last 4th July at Discovery Cove then went to MGM Studios for the evening to see the special fireworks there.
Discovery Cove was great for avoiding the crowds and enjoying a really special day, but I would not have missed the evening at MGM Studios or the fantastic fireworks there. Yes, it was very crowded, but in a way that only added to the atmosphere. We would have dashed over to Epcot for Illuminations afterwards, but a thunderstorm cut the evening short and we headed back to the hotel.
We were lucky enough to catch the special fireworks at Magic Kingdom too as it was also held on the 3rd, again a very crowded night, but very special too.

We were there last year on 4th July. We went to Fort Wilderness in the morning to eat at Trail's End buffet and check out the place. The heat was blistering though so that wasn't as much fun as I'd hoped. lol!! We then got a bus to Animal Kingdom and it was wonderful - not very busy at all. A lot of the 'streets' in Africa were empty, there was lots of space to walk and lots of little places to get water and fruit etc. We got on everything we wanted (Kil. Safari, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, A Bugs Life etc.) and easily got around the parks and checked out the shops. Nothing was very busy. We then went back to Wilderness Lodge (where we were staying), had dinner at Whispering Canyon (had no PS made for that and had to wait just 20 minutes). We had a great day.

The MK 4th of July fireworks are AMAZING and they will have the exact same show on 3rd *and* 4th of July. We saw them on the 3rd - packed of course but we didn't mind as we weren't trying to do any rides that night. I would definitely brave the crowds to see those fireworks especially if you have park hoppers and have already been to a park that day (as opposed to using a day on your ticket for just 1 hour of fireworks). You could also see them from the beach at the Polynesian Resort.

I think we'll do like you've done DebIreland. Animal Kingdom, for whatever reason, seems to be the least popular of the parks so I think I would head there on that day. The main celebrations seem to be elsewhere.

a few comments:

It's crazy busy the entire month of July, not just the week of the 4th.
We go every year at this time and it's unbelievably crowded all month long.

AK may used to have been the least popular park, but now with Expedition Everest, I'm not sure that will be true. Since it wasn't built to handle crowds of any size, even the slightest increase will be difficult.

I wouldn't be anywhere but in the MK for the 4th of July fireworks. But I say that as an expat American who sings and cries through the patriotic songs portion of the show (my kids always say, "get ready for mommy to cry now"). So take what I say with a grain of salt.
