Where do DVC folks go outside WDW?? Yet stay at WDW.

Please tell, what is it about MK and Wednesdays?

The only thing I have ever heard - from a CM - was that Wednesdays are known to be their least busy days...for whatever reason.

I tend to end up at DHS on Wednesdays. But theoretically, any park should be good on Wednesdays, since it's the day furthest from the weekend and should therefore have the least amount of locals. In theory, anyway.

I stay away from any park that has EMH mornings. That is my golden rule. I go to another park. I would rather sleep longer and go to a park that is not crowded. :thumbsup2

Ah, that's the joke I wasn't getting. :upsidedow I avoid EMH parks, too. I generally follow the Touringplans.com calendar. Nearly always, our schedule has been:

Mon: Epcot
Tue: MK
Wed: DHS
Thu: Epcot
Fri: AK

As I mentioned before, we generally avoid the parks on the weekends. We might drop over to MK for a little while, but we'll know what we're getting into and not expect to do much more than soak up the atmosphere, ride the TTA, and possibly watch Spectromagic and Wishes.

So if we go through with the Wednesday plan for next year, we'll have to move DHS to some other day, and cut back to only one full day at Epcot per week.

The problem with WDW is that there's a hundred equally fun things to do at any given moment. So there are many ways to have fun...but you'll constantly be missing out on 99 other fun things!

What happens on Wednesdays that makes MK great? Less crowds, thats what I would need!:thumbsup2

My guess is that it might have something to do with the fact that Thursday is usually EMH morning. I don't know if it works, but I try to go to a park either the day before or after an EMH. I figure most people will wait to go there on the EMH day. Is that maybe why Wednesday is traditionally slow?

Regarding KSC...my DH loves WDW but if given the chance he could probably spend a week at KSC...his dad was the same way. They would memorize every little detail of every space craft, do every tour, watch every video...and just hang out for the joy of "being there." :worship: Me, not so much...:cool1: Anyway, other things we have done and enjoyed off site were Mel Fisher's museum and the corresponding state shipwreck/treasure museum (the name escapes me now), some little out-of-the-way airplane museum which was actually quite fun, and of course the touristy beach things like Ron Jon's, etc. I really enjoyed just driving through and seeing the orange groves, etc. Of course when we go off-site we generally STAY off-site, and Vero Beach is our #1 off-site destination, but it would be worth just a day trip too.

Ok, what about Sundays? I can see Sat's being busy everywhere, but surely something must be ok on a Sunday? We get off the cruise on a Sun. Staying at VWL Sun, Mon, Tues. So no MK on those days?:sad1:

I am a local - like 35 minutes away or so. I like to have my husband take Wednesdays off just so we can enjoy the light crowds.

PS. Sorry I shared the secret. :confused3

Sundays only good til about lunch time at MK. I have been there done this so many times. It never seems to change unless you go on a very off peak off peak trip.

As EDK said, it gets busy later on.

Our *plan* is always to stay at the Lodge for Sat + Sun, with dinners somewhere on the monorail line. But in practice, we usually end up at MK for at least part of those days. One time until 1 AM!

Our experience has been that early mornings on Sats and Suns are good, and that after Wishes is good. Otherwise, it's pretty tough to get on many of the rides, most of the times we've been there.

That's not to say don't try! As always, prudent use of fastpasses and some knowledge of the ebb and flow of crowds will allow you to keep occupied.

Next year, we hope to keep ourselves occupied by making some time to just take pictures (DW) and video (me).

MK is the one park that "one" should always get there by opening. So much can be done in the first 2 hours. We always arrive before opening. IT works out great that way.

I get so bummed about the MK crowds. Seems like I never get to see a parade, fireworks, etc. cause of the crowds. Being at vwl, I thought maybe early, come home, then go back in evenings. But.....maybe I'll just skip it this trip. We are doing the segway tour at VWL on Tuesday, and I hear MK is aweful on Mondays.

We've often gone to some Florida state parks to enjoy nature. We particularly like Blue Spring in Orange City. The manatees congregate there in the winter.
