Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

Jackie is quick!! :rotfl: That was what I was going to say too!
The elephants on the JC always remind me of trips when I was younger too :goodvibes And the guys going up the totem pole....I don't know why but they just spark a memory!
I agree on your travel mates "getting it"......I was fine going in October by myself and now I have a friend going with me again :rotfl2: She is a riot though....lives in DC and she is super excited to go :thumbsup2

I must, must see the treehouse in October. I always seem to skip it. I loved that movie, heck I still do.

I like the Jungle Cruise, it's not a must do for me but I appreciate it. I especially like it at night, just a new dimension to the cruise when it's dark.

We were hoping to catch it during EMH's and it must close at regular park closing time. Next trip I'm going to try to schedule it in the evening!

Nice update, Katie. I'm not sure why we didn't do Jungle Cruise last year, but it will certainly be back on the list this year. For not using a flash, your pics at POTC turned out pretty good. As for the Swiss Family Treehouse, my DH says no...not until they put in an escalator or an elevator. :lmao::lmao:

Oh trust me, there are plenty of blurry and completely dark photos to accompany those that turned out OK . I'm really glad we took the time to climb the stairs

Great update! We missed the Jungle Cruise last visit, so I really enjoyed seeing your pictures! I'm not sure if I have ever seen Swiss Family Robinson?? :confused3 Loved the pictures of the Pirates! pirate:

We pretty much skipped all of Adventureland in 2008 (couldn't talk the boys into trying anything :confused3) so it was a must do this time!

I don't think I've ever seen Swiss Family Robinson either, and I'm like you, it's definitely one of those family movies we would have watched when I was a kid. Maybe I did see it and just don't remember :confused3

I'm drawing a blank on the what that sign on the Jungle Cruise means as well - I'll have to write it down and think about it, it's going to bug me now

I just think I MUST have seen it at some time and just can't come up with a memory of it...it's so wierd!

great updates Katie! That treehouse looks fun! We didn't visit it this trip so hopefully next trip! And I agree about a fun Jungle Cruise...it all depends on who's with you on the cruise. The skipper is always going to be funny/corny. Our jungle cruise was boring. I was the only one laughing! LOL! Can't wait for the next update!

The treehouse is fun, worth a stop for sure! I'm sure some JC skippers are better than others but if you are the only one enjoying the jokes, you start to feel a bit silly and enjoy it less I'm sure.

Say the sign out loud, "Oh, I see you." ;)

Love The Jungle Cruise and all the corny jokes and sight gags! It's one of my top favorites! :lovestruc

I thought of that one but it was the "y" that was throwing me off! thanks for solving the mystery

Yes, great update! Ya know, I haven't taken the time tos top by Swiss Family Treehouse or the Jungle Cruise the last couple of visits - want to be sure to see both in December.

LOVE the pics!!!

I think they are both kind of easy to pass over because the treehouse has such a small presence on the ground and the lines are usually long at JC. Definitely put them on your list!

Thanks Jackie, I was still trying to figure out what that sign said! :thumbsup2

Way to go Jackie!

Was it "Wonderful World of Disney"?

Love the pics of the treehouse and jungle cruise! I've never done the treehouse, but want to on our next trip.

Hmm  That sounds right. It was the only night of the week that we were allowed to eat in front of the TV!

Thanks Jackie!

:thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure the sign reads "Oh I See You". LOL!! Just a corny sign.

I love the Jungle Cruise! It's definitely different than AK's safari but is just as fun I think. I sure hope you avoided being sprayed by the elephants. ;)

Thanks for helping! I think the cornyness of JC is what makes it so much fun! Yes, I was fortunate to avoid the elephants

Great pics. I haven't done Swiss Family Robinson in years. I will have to go there this time. I love the Jungle Cruise and try to go on it each time I visit.

My only complaint about the treehouse is that so many people just walk right on through and it's hard to stop to appreciate the details. Still worth the stop though!

I don't think we've ever gone through the Swiss Family treehouse. If it's anything like Tom Sawyer's Island, I'll have to pass!

Jackie beat me to the sign---Oh, I see you...........:thumbsup2 . Comes from playing those license plate games with a classroom of kids (That is a language arts related activity ;) )

I think the treehouse was better than the island. I'm sure my kids would enjoy TS island but for me, it was too much of a hassle to get to/from then too spread out. The treehouse is up and down, much less time commitment...give it a stop!

LA? I thought you were a math teacher? :confused3

Hi Katie! Read your TR so far, it's great!! Can't wait to read all about it!

My name is also Katie and I live in Iowa too - Cedar Falls!! Small world!! :)

can't wait to read more! Have a good one!

Katie

Well hey Katie! I've seen you around other TR's but had no idea you were from Iowa. I'm a UNI grad (go panthers!!) I even worked there last year. I love CF and miss it tons

Glad to have you along!!

The treehouse fascinated me as a kid and I still like to walk through it today for nostalgic purposes. Plus you can get some good photos at the top!

Jungle Cruise is also a nostalgic favorite. Not sure how many photos of animatronic elephants you can get but I am for sure a contender for the world record. I have yet to take this cruise at night, however, and hope to recitfy that soon!

Love your new philosophy of only traveling with other DISers (although your family may miss you!). It is so nice when other people "get it" and you don't have to feel silly b/c some perhaps seemingly little thing is important to you. I may (or may not) have someone with me when I go in October and I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to explain some things to him. :lmao:

It occurs to me now that I didn't look around the park from the top, guess I'll have to go back! Definitely a night cruise next time too

Yeah, I guess my kids will have to come with me :rolleyes1 (I did promise the next trip will include them) Maybe the key is training our travel companions on the ways of a diser! Is the potential October travel mate the sort-of-beau? Is this not the Disney fan? :confused3 Share the dish girl!!

Jackie is quick!! :rotfl: That was what I was going to say too!

I loved my solo time on this trip but I'm not sure I would do a whole trip by myself. The key is finding someone who will deal with your style which largely, shelby was pretty good about just stepping in and rolling with my plans.

I thought I would update eveyone on Beth but I can't remember exactly what I said last so to sum up, her trial implants were an amazing success! this procedure was a last ditch effort to provide her some relief. People with different conditions typically experience about 50% pain relief, the doctors truly had no idea if this would work for her and if so, how well. She ended up experiencing 80-85% relief party: After 1 week, the trial implants were removed and she has been miserable ever since.

Today is the day of her permanant surgery!! She will have 2 electrodes implanted instead of 1 as well as a control box. She knows from the trial surgery, that she is in for a great deal of pain today during the procedure with hopefully a big payoff! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she recovers from the surgery quickly and is able to reclaim her life when it is over

I hope Beth's surgery is a success and she can go back to living a relatively pain free life!

I got sidetracked reading your trip report and couldn't stop! I'm really enjoying your trip:yay: I'm definately going to try the Jungle Cruise at night on my next trip!

Prayers for your friend Beth. No surgery is fun. I pray that the surgery is a success and that it relieves her pain.

Hope Beth's surgery went well today! :goodvibes

:grouphug: Thanks everyone!! I texted her yesterday to let her know you were all wishing her luck. I finally heard back about 8:00 last night. she said the procedure went well but like last time, it will take a few days to recover from the surgery before they know the impact.

I got sidetracked reading your trip report and couldn't stop! I'm really enjoying your trip:yay: I'm definately going to try the Jungle Cruise at night on my next trip!

:welcome: glad to have you along! JC is definitely worth a stop IMO!

I was wanting to update today but we have Patrick's birthday party this afternoon and I have cake decorating to do as well as a pre-weekend grocery run and other assorted tasks so I don't think I'll finish. Tomorrow we have a friends birthday party as well as a family dinner for Patrick's actual birthday.

Hopefully Sunday!!

First of all, prayers for Beth, I hope the surgery goes well and that her pain is as minimal as possible! :grouphug:

Great Adventureland update! I like waking through the Treehouse! It's one of my favorite live action Disney movies, you will have to see it sometime Katie! I like Jungle Cruise too and all the corny jokes, especially the "backside of water"!! My kids liked riding it for the first time too! Great pic of you too with the "pirate booty"!!!

I'll definitely have to make a point to watch it one of these days! I'm hoping next time my boys will do JC with me, I'm not sure what Patrick was so worried about last time that he refused to do it :confused3

I'll be thinking about Beth today as she recovers!

Happy Friday!

Thanks Katie!

Just wanted to share a pic of the final cake...a gummy bear pool party!
