Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

Hi, Katie! Came across your TR this afternoon - all caught up! Looking forward to reading more adventures! ::yes::

Gee, that's disappointing about the pics, but kinda understand your SIL not taking out her camera because she is a Disney newbie. they don't always understand that adults love pics with the characters too. ;) I've been so many times that I never take a camera to WDW anymore. With family someone else is the photo taker, and same with friends. Still, when I am with friends on a Girls Only WDW trip, always make sure they show me how to use their camera and what pics they want taken with characters etc, so I'm ready!! Hope things get better for you as the week goes on!

Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!! :goodvibes

im going to go through the whole thread in the morning as im looking forward to reading about how you did things compared to us as we were there at the same time.

Glad to have you aboard!! :thumbsup2 Sorry you weren't able to make the cinco meet but you'll get to see the pics when I get around to it!

Morning Katie- I'm joining you! Just caught up (which is amazing with a 20 month old running circles around me), and can't wait to read more! I love your dining reviews!!!
P.S. we're staying at Wilderness Lodge in August, and those pictures got me so thrilled to be going! :thumbsup2

Welcome :goodvibes Glad you are enjoying so far, lots more to go!!

Oooh, WL...very jealous! I wish we had time to explore it some more. I'll have to hop over to check out your PTR

What's up with Eeyore giving you the cold shoulder???? He is my favorite. Last time I went to CP it was just Denny and I and he was getting food when Eeyore came around, so the guy at the next table took my pic.

Sometimes I think its hard to travel with people who are not super crazy about Disney. They don't appreciate the little things that we Disney fanatics want to have "just so".

ps....love the empty main street pics!

During our Cape May breakfast, the guy at the next table took pictures for us, CP was just a bit more hectic I guess and people didn't pay attention.

I had very few expectations for this trip with the last minute replacement but Shelby's lack of interest in taking pictures was a bit upsetting once I realized I wouldn't be in as many pics as I would have liked. She was however very patient with my frequent photo stops so it could have been worse!

One of my all time favorite sites an empty Main street in the morning!! LOVE IT!!!!!!

Sorry you didn't have the best breakfasts at CP!!! What a bummer about Eeyore!!

Looking for more!

Despite not loving the food and a less than stellar character meet, I'll be going back for the chance to enjoy a quiet main street!

Welcome!! I'm sure when the trip memories settle in, the disappointment over Eeyore and missed photos won't be what I take away. Instead I'll remember how freeing it was to be without kids, the time I spent wandering and soaking it all in and the great dismeets!!

phew, all caught up in one go!!!! as i said before i got to disney at 11 am on wednesday 05 may. im loving following you in your report

Day 3 continued

After breakfast, we headed out in this direction

florida2010053.jpg

The plan for today was to work clockwise around the park, hitting anything we missed the night before but saving fantasyland for the next visit. We started out by climbing some steps!

florida2010057.jpg

I can’t remember ever having seen this movie which surprises me because it seems like the sort of thing our family would have watched together when the weekly movies were on TV (Wide World of Disney? Is that what it was called?) The bedrooms look like someplace I could sleep

florida2010073.jpg

But with as poorly as I cook :sad2:, I’m not sure this kitchen would work for me

florida2010078.jpg

Our next stop was for a boat tour

florida2010078.jpg

It was pushing 11:00 by this time so the line was pretty long, wait time was posted at 20 minutes but the queue was fully open and the line still out the attraction. I knew there was no way this would be a 20 minute wait but the plan was for no backtracking today so we went ahead and got in line. I do enjoy this queue, the bromeliads were so pretty

florida2010087.jpg

And there are so many fun jokes if you take the time to read

florida2010098.jpg

florida2010099.jpg

This was one thought that I could NOT figure out! I took its picture so I could ask you guys for help!

florida2010083.jpg

I’m sure many of you have seen the large spider in a cage near the loading area. I got such a kick out of watching people react to it. The button that activates it is hidden but if you pay attention, it’s pretty obvious when the CM pushes it. It's a fun way to kill the wait time. After about 30 minutes, we reached the front of the line.

Our skipper was pretty good but I think part of the fun of the ride is how the cruisers respond to the jokes and we had a good group! I do love this ride…it reminds me of my visits as a kid.

I know a lot of people think it’s outdated now that the safari is at AK but I still love the silly animals

florida2010121.jpg

florida2010125.jpg

I’m sure you can tell me the joke!

florida2010130.jpg

florida2010133.jpg

The elephants especially remind me of my childhood visits

florida2010136.jpg

florida2010138.jpg

This one apparently had been talking to the elephants at AK :rotfl2:

florida2010139.jpg

After our cruise, we made our way over to a cruise of a different kind

florida2010146.jpg

florida2010147.jpg

I obeyed the no flash rule so I don’t have a lot of great pictures

florida2010162.jpg

florida2010181.jpg

Couldn’t resist a little pirate booty!

I must, must see the treehouse in October. I always seem to skip it. I loved that movie, heck I still do.

I like the Jungle Cruise, it's not a must do for me but I appreciate it. I especially like it at night, just a new dimension to the cruise when it's dark.

Nice update, Katie. I'm not sure why we didn't do Jungle Cruise last year, but it will certainly be back on the list this year. For not using a flash, your pics at POTC turned out pretty good. As for the Swiss Family Treehouse, my DH says no...not until they put in an escalator or an elevator. :lmao::lmao:

Great update! We missed the Jungle Cruise last visit, so I really enjoyed seeing your pictures! I'm not sure if I have ever seen Swiss Family Robinson?? :confused3 Loved the pictures of the Pirates! pirate:

I don't think I've ever seen Swiss Family Robinson either, and I'm like you, it's definitely one of those family movies we would have watched when I was a kid. Maybe I did see it and just don't remember :confused3

I'm drawing a blank on the what that sign on the Jungle Cruise means as well - I'll have to write it down and think about it, it's going to bug me now

great updates Katie! That treehouse looks fun! We didn't visit it this trip so hopefully next trip! And I agree about a fun Jungle Cruise...it all depends on who's with you on the cruise. The skipper is always going to be funny/corny. Our jungle cruise was boring. I was the only one laughing! LOL! Can't wait for the next update!

Say the sign out loud, "Oh, I see you." ;)

Love The Jungle Cruise and all the corny jokes and sight gags! It's one of my top favorites! :lovestruc

Yes, great update! Ya know, I haven't taken the time tos top by Swiss Family Treehouse or the Jungle Cruise the last couple of visits - want to be sure to see both in December.

LOVE the pics!!!

I can’t remember ever having seen this movie which surprises me because it seems like the sort of thing our family would have watched together when the weekly movies were on TV (Wide World of Disney? Is that what it was called?)

Was it "Wonderful World of Disney"?

Love the pics of the treehouse and jungle cruise! I've never done the treehouse, but want to on our next trip.

I'm pretty sure the sign reads "Oh I See You". LOL!! Just a corny sign.

I love the Jungle Cruise! It's definitely different than AK's safari but is just as fun I think. I sure hope you avoided being sprayed by the elephants. ;)

Great pics. I haven't done Swiss Family Robinson in years. I will have to go there this time. I love the Jungle Cruise and try to go on it each time I visit.

I don't think we've ever gone through the Swiss Family treehouse. If it's anything like Tom Sawyer's Island, I'll have to pass!

Jackie beat me to the sign---Oh, I see you...........:thumbsup2 . Comes from playing those license plate games with a classroom of kids (That is a language arts related activity ;) )

Hi Katie! Read your TR so far, it's great!! Can't wait to read all about it!

My name is also Katie and I live in Iowa too - Cedar Falls!! Small world!! :)

can't wait to read more! Have a good one!

Katie

The treehouse fascinated me as a kid and I still like to walk through it today for nostalgic purposes. Plus you can get some good photos at the top!

Jungle Cruise is also a nostalgic favorite. Not sure how many photos of animatronic elephants you can get but I am for sure a contender for the world record. I have yet to take this cruise at night, however, and hope to recitfy that soon!

Love your new philosophy of only traveling with other DISers (although your family may miss you!). It is so nice when other people "get it" and you don't have to feel silly b/c some perhaps seemingly little thing is important to you. I may (or may not) have someone with me when I go in October and I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to explain some things to him. :lmao:
