Where did this heat and all these people come from? The new PTR/TR link 5/7

very late to the report but wanted to say hi before i got all caught up, love the first few installments, off to read more

Great update!! I admire your stamina to stay so late after such a long day!!
That poor little guy-- I'll never understand why a parent would force a kid on a ride. I can see encouraging them if they seem nervous, but to make a kid whom clearly has nerve issues is just mean!

wow katie! Great update! you got some really beautiful pics of those fireworks! And I just love MK at night, so beautiful! sorry to hear about that kid in your log...sad to hear the mother wasn't handling it very well. anyway, sounds like you two had an awesome night at MK, can't wait to see breakfast!

I got a lot of garbage between the moving boat and the moving fireworks but I was pleased that some turned out nice. It was a completely unplanned thing that was a nice surprise!

What a great ending to your second day at Disney -- seeing the fireworks and riding all those rides during EMH!

I am a little stunned by the kid throwing up in the log! I have never heard of that happening!

I assume it was nerves, his Mom kind of made him go...poor kid! Patrick is that way, a very sensitive gag trigger and nerves can make him throw up.

Lucky you. You got to see the fireworks on the way. Loved the pics. To bad for the poor kid and don't know what the mom was thinking to make him go on.

I sympathize with wanting to go and thinking your kid will like it but I am of the mind that it's just not worth it!

What a wonderful way to end your evening!

Those sidewalk drawings(?) they do are so amazing!

I don't have much artistic talent so it doesn't take a lot to impress me but I love that they do that, it was a touch of magic to end our day!

What an awesome way to end the day :goodvibes I loved seeing a couple of Splash Mountain pics because it was closed when we were there. I miss it!

Kailyn and I also squeezed into one of those cars on Astro Orbiter. I still don't know how because they are tiny!

Seriously, what makes them think 2 grown-ups can ride together in those? :confused3

I've got to try MK EMHs sometime, sounds like a great night! Well great except for the little boy throwing up in your log
23_28_108.gif

My friend and I crammed ourselves into one rocket on Astro Orbitor once as well - it was quite comical!

:lmao: Yep!

The girl who was working the top tried to come over and help us buckle in and she looked at us like we were total loons, we laughed like crazy!

Sounds like your EMH was great as well! Pity about the up-chuck in the wood-chuck; but at least it wasn't front-chuck over you or Shelby!

I had a big ol' chuckle about the two of you in Astro Orbiters. What was that kid thinking? I had trouble with me and DS in the same carriage - and he's 9!!

Up-chuck in the wood-chuck :rotfl2:

I did worry that there was enough water in the log to float it around :scared:

I didn't remember being too tight 2 years ago but Patrick was a scrawny 6 year old!

What a great night! At least the little boy aimed downward... that coulda been really gross. I feel sorry for him too with his mom yelling at him. I'm sure he didn't *want* to do that! :sad2:

The boat looks like a cool vantage point for the fireworks! Looks like you got a lot done that night with minimal crowds!! :thumbsup2

Breakfast in only 8 hours?!

The guys in front of us told the kid to vomit overboard :sad2: I told the Mom to keep it contained for easier clean up!

It really was a great evening, cool and fast lines! Yep, short night ahead but we were running on a lot of adrenaline I think so we were good!

Funny thing was when I was full from a meal I would take the dessert and water back to the room and stick it in the fridge. I think by the last day I was using water to make coffee in the room to help get rid of it. :rotfl2: That and cake for breakfast. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think I tried to ride with both of my kids years ago and had a hard time getting in. It must have been both because my Dh can't ride spinning things and they were small so I guess we had no choice.

When I went with 2 friends last NYE and somehow we all squeezed into 1 doom buggy. :rotfl2:
I think 2 of commented on sitting on 1 "cheek" the whole ride. :rotfl2:
I think the CM was chuckling to himself when he made the suggestion of 1 doom buggy.

I would have thought 3 adults could fit in a doom buggy but I also believed the kid when he told us to share a rocket

What a fun evening!
Just two little girls playing the night away!

I look forward to seeing the yummy breakfast coming up.

That's just what I felt like, a kid at play! :cloud9:

Hey!

Just want to introduce myself first. I'm Beth, I've been on the DIS for a while, but it's only recently that I've decided to check out the TR boards :scared1:...I know, where have I been?!?

This is like only the 3rd TR I've read - I just caught up with all your entries and also with the chatter. It's nice, you have lots of lovely "fans" :goodvibes

I'm loving your TR - it's brilliant!! Keeps me sane while being all these miles away from WDW.

I look forward to more updates! Yum!

:thumbsup2

:welcome: to my TR and to the trip report boards! I didn't discover TR's right away either so don't feel bad. The NICEST people hang out here :grouphug: You don't find the same amount of criticism that seems to be around a lot on the other forums (unless you are Heather apparently ;) )

It really helps the Disney blues to live vicariously through others!

What a fun night! Sounds like you girls had a blast! And what an extra treat being able to see Wishes. Sorry about the happenings in the log...so gross! But at least it wasn't on you! Can't wait to hear about breakfast!

It was a night full of pixie dust surprises (and some less pleasant surprises but why dwell on those!) Breakfast came quickly

Katie -

Great updates starting with your dinner at AP. I think that is my all time favorite restaurant. Denny and I had such a wonderful meal there last Sept and the customer service was bar none.

You had an awesomely full 2nd dark. Wow - you did not let up for a minute! EMH was crazy that night. We felt the same way when we were trying to enter the park.

Oh - that poor little boy who puked on Splash. That is so sad. He must have had the crap scared out of him going down the big drop. Yeah mom for forcing him to go on. that will be one of his better childhood memories!

If you love the WL then the next time you go to Disney make sure you take the lodge tour which is offered most mornings at 9am. It was excellent and even better because its free. I will write about it in my TR. I took it on the last day!

Great updates Katie!!!!! You girls sure had a great night at MK!!!! Tell me, is the horse with the golden ribbon on it supposed to be Cindy's?!?!?!?!

It was a really fun night, I was glad we had the energy to keep going, I never would have guessed it.

Jill already answered but yes, the gold ribbon is supposed to be Cindy's horse (look quick, it's in the second ring of horses in from the outside)

I'm not Katie but, yes, the horse with the golden ribbon is Cinderella's horse.

Katie: I LOVE the photo from Space Mountain! That little boy is going all gangsta and the girl is smiling like a beauty queen.

I think it's funny to see who you end up sharing a picture with :)

What a fun way to end the night! I had to giggle at your plans to close the park after originally not wanting to. Doesn't time fly by when you are in Disney?? Great update!

I just figured we would go for an hour, maybe 2. I never imagined we would stay until 1. It was neat to be next to the castle as it struck midnight :goodvibes another unplanned surprise!

Katie, what a great way to end the day. I love the MK EMH's in the evening. I feel bad for that poor little boy; I don't know why parents insist on making their child do something they don't want to do. And your photos of the castle/fireworks and the castle and Walt with Mickey...well, all of your photos, are terrific.

Thanks Kathy! Shelby is making us a digital scrapbook as a thank you for my planning the trip so I can't wait to see what she does with those pics.

I hear parents say "I know my kid and know they will love ride XYZ" but dragging an unhappy child on a ride they don't want is just not my thing I guess.

very late to the report but wanted to say hi before i got all caught up, love the first few installments, off to read more

:welcome: I guess I have a lot to share because I am just finishing day 2 :lmao:

Oh trust me, the stamina dwindled as the week went on but I was thrilled we made it that night!:lmao:

When we got back to the loading area, everyone in the log tried to get the CM's attention but we were getting off before any of them even heard us, other riders were trying to get on before the CM's noticed, it was odd!

I remember you liking it a lot, I think that's what put it farther up on our list. I was really glad we went!

I'm bummed I never realized you were all in the park that night too!

I didn't know they offer a lodge tour, that would be fun! Can't wait to read about it and see your pictures!

Looks like you two had a lot of fun at EMH. Poor kid that was forced to ride. I bet his mom will never force him to ride again.

Great pics of Wishes from the boat!

It's amazing how much the park emptied out for EMH! :thumbsup2

Ew about the vomit; hope that mom didn't drag her kid on anymore rides he didn't want to do! :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear about your breakfast!

It was a really fun night, low crowds, cooler air and lots of aderenaline to keep us going!

The fireworks was an unplanned, super special thing!

Yeah, hopefully that mom learned her lesson!

Breakfast coming right up...

Monday, May 3, day 3

After leaving MK at 1:30 am, the alarm was set for sometime shortly after 7 but we slept soundly. I took a few minutes while trying to wake up to say good morning to Stacey

florida2010001-1.jpg

I had wanted to leave the room a little after 8 but it must have been a bit later than that because it was already 8:45 when we finally walked under the train station and said hello to Roy

florida2010009.jpg

We took the stroll down a mostly empty Main Street but didn’t have a lot of time to kill if we wanted to stay ahead of the crowds so it was a brisk walk

florida2010006.jpg

florida2010007.jpg

florida2010008.jpg

florida2010011-1.jpg

florida2010012.jpg

I stopped for a photopass picture while Shelby went to look at purses

22.jpg

24.jpg

Soon we saw the CM’s getting ready to greet the crowds

florida2010017.jpg

As we reached the hub, the music was playing from the train station. Just enough time for one more PP stop

26.jpg

Then we saw the crowds making their way toward us

florida2010021.jpg

So we snapped just a couple more pics

florida2010018.jpg

florida2010023.jpg

and headed off to our breakfast ADR

florida2010025.jpg

We didn’t have to wait long before we were seated and before we had settled in where our waitress decided that we needed confetti even though we weren’t celebrating anything...very thoughtful! Within a minute or so, our first friend was there

florida2010027.jpg

I had plans to get all the characters I met to hold up Flat Beth and this sign I made for her as well as get a set of autographs for her. I picked up a small album to put them all in so she knows how much I was thinking of her.

I managed to take this one solitary picture before the kid from the next table was tapping on Eeyore’s shoulder and he was gone. I hadn’t gotten a picture with him, no autograph, nothing! For some reason, he didn’t have a character handler with him and there was no way to get his attention back. I shouldn’t blame Eeyore, I should blame the kid who didn’t understand the protocol but it started my meal off on a sour note. :sad1:

Shelby told me to just go over to the next table and get his autograph but I didn’t want to be THAT person so instead we headed to the food lines. I started with some puffed French toast, strawberries, bagel, cream cheese, tomato and salmon

florida2010029.jpg

As well as a made to order omelet

florida2010030-1.jpg

Shelby went with a banana, omelet, mickey waffle, some potatoes and bacon

florida2010031-1.jpg

I was really looking forward to trying the puffed toast but it was much too oily for my taste, I only had 2 or 3 bites. I was also very excited about an omelet station but I asked for the supreme (or some such combo) and it had breakfast sausage inside which I don’t care for. I started to pout a little more.

Soon Tigger came by to say Hi

florida2010033.jpg

Then Piglet

florida2010036.jpg

I went to get a little more to eat…breakfast pizza, potatoes and a chocolate croissant. The pizza and potatoes were just OK but the croissant was good.

florida2010040.jpg

Notice that I am not in any pictures with the characters yet? Shelby carried a camera with her but had yet to take it out of her bag. Just before pooh got to our table, she said she didn’t care if she missed him and was going to the bathroom. I was pouting inside still more over this but I figured I needed to be nice and asked if she would stay long enough so I could get a picture with my beloved Pooh Bear.

florida2010046-1.jpg

It was at this point that I realized that I would have to insist on any pictures I wanted of me on this trip :sad2: I was really missing Beth because I knew she would have had my back if she were there. We headed out for our day and I decided to put it behind me…no point in dwelling on unhappy thoughts in my happy place!

Sorry to hear that things weren't going according to plans, and you weren't able to get the pictures you wanted with the characters. :(

All of the food at Crystal Palace looks very yummy, though -- can't wait to be there in a month! :goodvibes

I love the pics...but I'm so sorry you didn't get the autograph or picture with Eeyore. I don't blame the kids...its the parents who don't follow the rules. We have always been told that the characters come to the table and that we shouldn't "go up to the characters." Some people are just really selfish. I'm sorry that Shelby wasn't as good as taking pictures as you. :sad2:

I've never had a made to order omelet at Crystal Palace; Mark has and he enjoyed his. I love the puffed french toast--it is my favorite (the potato casserole was not that good last time we were there...they changed something in it).

***Do love the photo pass pictures of you -- very cute.

Finally caught up! Phew!

You sure lucked out with a great view on your second room assignment. Too bad about the sloppy mousekeeping.:sad2: The rooms at CSR look really nice! Those queen beds sure can't be beat!;)

Looks like a great meal at both Brown Derby and AP.

What a jam-packed day at MK!!! And then you were back within 8 hours!:worship:

Too bad you didn't get all the photos you wanted a breakfast.:sad2: Yet another excuse to take another trip, right?;)

awww sorry about Eeyore! At least you got a pic of him and Beth together! And great PP pics of you! Can't wait for next update!

This does not sound like a good way to kick start the morning....hope the rest of your day went better.

And what a dilemma :scratchin. I'd like to think otherwise, but I think I would have been "THAT person" :sad2:.
We had sort of a similar situation at Chef Mickey's 5 years ago. We were there for well over an hour and for some reason, Dale never came to our table..despite having a 5 year old DS as enticement. We ended up sitting there even though we had all finished our breakfast until a CM noticed that we weren't vacating our table or asking for the bill (and there was a huge queue waiting). Dale came to our table PDQ after that :thumbsup2.

Sorry you didn't get the photos you were hoping for at breakfast. The photopass shots of you on Main Street are adorable! Someday, *maybe*, I'll wake up in time to go do an early character breakfast. Walking down a nearly empty Main Street must be pretty darn cool!

Does Shelby not "get" Disney the way you do? That might explain her oblivious attitude about the pics...:confused3

Sorry you didn't care for your meal. We tried dinner there at the insistence of DH's co-worker back in 2004. I hated it, but the rest of the family loved it. I'm finding out that I'm just not a buffet person, because I felt the same way at Chef Mickey's and Cape May. :rolleyes1
