Yes. 40 years. Old school, don't believe in the tabloid style that is the current industry and is favored by many viewers/readers.Are you a journalist?
I thought you were an engineer or someone technical...at a TV station.
You do know journalists work at TV stations, right? Who do you think does the newscasts?I always thought TVguy, that you worked At a TVstation!
Because of your name...or maybe the hours you work? Something you posted
Speaking as someone who used to work in a TV Newsroom, there are TVs showing at least your competitors and yourself (if not some showing network news) and multiple scanners for police and fire dispatch (which I think TVGuy has mentioned before). Depending on his role, once the news is on air, he could actually be in the control room with a different set of monitors and noises.I always got the impression that TV Guy was more in production or engineering than in the actual journalism side of the job too. I think partly because of a lot of comments about being in the production room with all the TVs, etc and partly, well, just based on how he posts about certain things, in ways which just don't feel like someone really trained in journalism (especially old school) would. Then again, I guess the DIS is not work, so why would he treat it like a journalist?!
I am aware of that actually (I grew up with a dad who was a radio DJ but also worked a few year in TV news and two different stations)--i guess it was just that normally the comments about work are almost all technical (that I notice) which must have added up in my brain and given me the impression he worked on the technical end of things. and it was certainly in tandem with a posting style which did not feel very much like a journalist to me. I was just jumping in with the talk about where that impression came from--funny how several of us ended up with the same impression without any actual reason to get it----you just build up these impressions of regular posters over the years I guess.Speaking as someone who used to work in a TV Newsroom, there are TVs showing at least your competitors and yourself (if not some showing network news) and multiple scanners for police and fire dispatch (which I think TVGuy has mentioned before). of course I do....he mentioned really long hours, so I visualized him as a tech or engineer. I know people who write for newspapers-they are not there for long hours AT THE STATION-they are out and about. You do know journalists work at TV stations, right? Who do you think does the newscasts?

Heck, my own dad was program manager and morning drive DJ at small radio station and end up doing all the engineering for several months when one person quit and it took a while to replace him--so I should realize someone can focus pretty heavily on both.

I doubt it--he was last on a local Colorado radio station in the late 80s (after that he worked for a satellite station based out of Denver--owned by Jones cable company).Would he be anyone I might know? PM if you don't want to publicize![]()
