When Was Your First TIME at WDW?

My first time was in April of 1995. It was my high school senior trip and we did a day at MK and one day at Epcot (counted as an educational day so we could stay in FL longer). We have been going almost yearly as a family since. I'm now hooked on WDW, even though my first visit do a disney park was Disneyland when I was 6-weeks old back in 1977. As much as I love Disneyland, there's just something that I love about WDW.

July 1978 I was 7 years old. I barely remember anything from that trip. I feel so lucky that I was able to bring my kids so often.

June 1981. I was 24 and didn’t want to leave! Have only missed a few years since and none since purchasing DVC.

April 1990. MGM had just opened and the park opened VERY early (like 7:30 AM) allowing us to zip around Star Tours, the Great Movie Ride and the Animation Tour VERY quickly. The hot new attraction at Epcot was Body Wars, which we waited a long time for. Captain EO was also new and in-demand. We waited over an hour for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea at MK which was probably the most disappointing ride of our trip (unconvincing bubbles and plastic fish on sticks).

LOVE the groovy shorts!! Is the boy in the red shirt with you? He resembles my brother, but he was only 11 at the time! What AWESOME memories!! Thanks!!
LOL, yeah... those shorts. I think they were cutoffs made from hand-me-downs from my brother in the red shirt. He was 16 at the time of the pic. My mom to the left, and my dad behind the camera. I'll be back there in a couple of months and I hope to re-create the photo, but with my grown daughter and son filling in for my mom and brother. Now if I can only find those shorts... 😅

Summer 1981, June I think. I was a few months shy of 3. My only real memory from that trip is a very fuzzy one of being afraid of Elliott the dragon in the MSEP (when he would have smoke come out of his nose...I think I was probably scared of the noise). Consequently the MSEP holds a special place in my heart, since it's the only thing I have memory of from my first trip. I was so excited when it returned in 2010 and super sad when it left in 2016. I made a special trip after they announced it was leaving, to see it one last time and record it.
Technically though, my first trip was about 3 years prior to that when I was in utero. Maybe this is why I'm such a Disney fan. It was imprinted on me from the womb lol.

December 4th, 2004, we stayed in a Contemporary Garden Wing... Amazing trip and amazing memories. Somehow, we were lucky enough to become DVC Members during that first trip! Many return trips since then obviously!

I believe December of 1979. My great Aunt & Uncle too my Mom and myself when I was 3. There are Christmas decorations in the pictures which is why I assume it was December.

Okay so that is not my brother - didn't think so as your brother was too tall for an 11 year old. DH had a pair of flag white jeans which were second hand from his cousin in L.A. My brother was into those plaid bell bottom pants at that time. I had a pair of purple bell bottoms I likely wore to MK. Thanks for the trip down memory lane and have a great time at WDW!

December 1980. I was in 2nd grade. Visited my Aunt and Uncle in Fort Lauderdale (we live in Michigan) and took a side quest to the Magic Kingdom. Day 1 was cold, we wore our winter coats. Day 2 was warm, no coats necessary!

Next trip 2010 when my kids were 4, 7, 10. Came home from that one thinking, well that was exhausting, don't need to do that again any time soon. LOL.

Next 2016 with a 13 member in-law group. My MIL and FIL paid. I was in charge of itinerary because nobody else knew what they were doing. The whole week was like herding cats.

Next trips were mostly just my husband and I (awesome!) or me with 1 kid (also awesome!). Going in 24 days with my husband and can't wait!!!

First visit was in 1975 when I was 9 years old. Most recent trip was 2025 (almost 50 years later to the day).

My wife and I were also able to be in Magic Kingdom on October 1, 2021 for WDW's 50th anniversary.

June of 1999, I had just graduated high school, and a group of us loaded in my friend's mom's mini-van and headed down. We stayed at All Star Movies. I am now planning my 11th trip this December!

Don't remember the exact year, but I know MK was the only park and the only Disney hotels were Contemporary & Polynesian. There was an exhibit just inside the entrance to MK with a model of the layout for Epcot and it was scheduled to open in the next year or two. We returned a few years later after Epcot opened. I can remember we felt like if you didn't want to shop or eat at Epcot, there wasn't much else to do as there were very few rides. They added various rides over the years.

Think we were also at Universal a few times but no idea what years that was. Stayed both at Disney as well as other nearby hotels and each worked out well for us.

We liked Florida as a vacation destination in the Fall or Winter due to the warmer weather. We might go to Disney for 1-2 days, but it generally wasn't our only reason to go there. Disney was just someplace in our vacation rotation and since the rides/shows never changed that often, we tended to go less often over the years.

June 2002 for our Honeymoon. Yeah, it was extremely hot and rainy and humid. But we fell in love. Plus, it was an amazing value at that time. We'd return 6 more times in the next 10 years. It was a great run...until FP+ and the dismantling of Epcot made me rethink all of my future trips there. My short trip in 2021 was good, and my July/August trip was almost good. But the value just isn't there anymore. Premium prices for ride breakdowns and less of that old Disney feel. I miss those old times.

March of 1972. I was 10 years old. We stayed at the Contemporary. My father hated it and never took us back. My wife and I have gone at least once a year since 1989. Since becoming DVC in 1996 we go two to three times a year.

1980. I was 5.
I lived in Massachusetts, but my aunt lived in Florida. I flew as an unaccompanied minor to visit her and she took me to Disney! She also took me to Circus World.
