just won a bid on an auction on skyauction for VV at parkway for my nephew next week

since the payment did not seem to go through i called skyauction to see what was happening

they informed me until an agent can confirm availability, the week we just won might not be there

we are not particularly worried since we have always had good success with skyauction, but just wanted people to know that just because you win the auction does not necessarily mean you will get the week if it is not available

have not found it on the website, but somewhere he says there is a disclaimer that says "subject to availability"

the disclaimer was in the email they sent:

All auctions are subject to availability and the earlier you submit, the better chance there will be that we will be able to confirm you on the dates that you prefer. If you wait too long there might not be availability! Don't worry -- we won't charge you if we are unable to confirm your designated travel dates for any reason.

thanks....

I was wondering...

I know I got CWR for May (from that 7 day thing I won last year) - but I just won another bid and requested it for Sept - but it never asked me for a payment.

so that is probably my problem too....

thank you for recommending that 7 day thing - I was getting a little afraid - but CWR finally showed up again....

yeah...

would say RCI has got us thinking all the time ....trying to get those good deals we used to get...

on a side note ....they tried to tell me when they called to see if i was going to release a week of EV that we had on hold that the cost was 40 higher than the cost they quoted on the website, they said when i went to confirm it, the cost would go through at the higher cost....

i did it on the phone and told him NOT.....it just charged my card the lower cost.....

alas, once they get their computer in order the online cost will have the TAX tacked on just like happens now if you book directly....on the phone

we just won an auction for a week at Grandview Las Vegas ( we already were in a studio at HGVC Las Vegas Hilton for the time buttttttttt

as we all know a ONE bedroom is so much nicer than a HOTEL style studio....

til then

keep smiling.....our cat is not gonna like it next tuesday when we have to put him/her out for a week ( it is actually a stray but she/he makes our home its home...we do enjoy how she has us trained now )...the neighbour will be feeding her/him and there is good access to our garage if it does become inclement....at least this time he/she is not "standing guard" over our suit cases night and day.....LOL

cats are interesting..... :thumbsup2

just got an email saying they have confirmed the reservations and that I had paid off it.....

I just wish they had told me which of my credit cards they had used....

I like the old system better - where you could change or add another credit card before they charged you.

I was told they gave me credit.... but I didn't give me the certificate information....

they also say no cancellations.... they will not refund the money any longer - no matter what....

the credit card info.....like the last 4 digits should show up when you click on my vacations and then click on the auction you won...

when i tried to use the certificate the other day, it would not take the "code" and i had to call and talk to someone who was able to push it through....

but this auction today is frustrating me...

called at 4:53 ......guess what....they are open until 5:00 but not a soul to answer the call....

anyhow...have sent emails to a couple of places ( someone i spoke to earlier says they have agents that work from home ) but the website said they only answer emails during the regular office hours....go figure....

earlier today - it was one of those 'ready, set, go' - so then I make the request for CWR and it stopped did nothing. So I send them an email with the details and asked that my travel certificate be used - it didn't give them the number.

I got told I got CWR and my certificated was used????

anyway I will find out soon.

thanks spicey.....nothing yet as of this morning....think i was given the "there are people working on files from home" line to appease me...

will just have to call monday

we have to get the information to my nephew before we leave on tuesday

you can check out what they have to offer on

www.skyauction.com

it is an auction site where you bid on the various travel deals

make sure you read the "fine" details of the auction about the "costs" that are added onto your final bid

the best auctions if you can find them are the 7 nights in 1 or 2 bedroom condos or the "ready set go" auction which is "generic" where you can choose your resort as far away as 3/1/2007 right now

either

1: before the auction by placing a hold on the unit you are interested in
2: choosing the resort after you have won

by looking at the inventory they have

you find the inventory by

1: doing a serach for "ready"
2: they usually bring up 3 such auctions
3: click on "click here for more info or to bid"
4: choose "click here" in the body of the information
5; this takes you to the search engine for inventory available, just plug in your dates and location request

the inventory is constantly changing also ....so you have to check it to see if something is there that would suit your plans

since you control the price you are paying ( with the exception of the set "service fees/taxes" + "processing fee" ) sometimes you can get good bargains for a 7 night stay

for example on Ready Set Go
if you bid and win with 50$, your total cost for 7 nights would be

50$ + 195$ + 20$ = 265$

if you have other questions just ask...

they are generally a very good company to work with

well got the email from skyauction today, they never really had the "location" to begin with or RCI made a mistake in the "inventory" listing

RCI was willing to offer us a one bedroom with partial kitchen when the auction we won was for a 2 bedroom

there was nothing in the auction that said there was "limited availability", in fact it stated 2 bedroom for march 31 - april 7

wonder if there is some way we can pursue this with new york state ??

boy -they have done that to you more than once....

so sorry!!!

I got the email for the ready, set go - but for some reason for the getaway weeks they are using snail mail - so it will take around 2 weeks to get here.

I made my reservation for my get away week the Sunday before last. I received my papers today. So you might get it sooner than you think. Can't wait to enjoy my great deal. :yay:

lawgs,
I had the same trouble with skyauction a couple years ago. I had won a week at the Sheraton Vistana for $8.00 +195+15. It was for specified dates like yours are and I didn't enter my dates right away. They offered to refund my money (how nice of them) . There were many emails involved. They eventually told me that there were no weeks available for my trip. Now I am normally a very patient person, however, I pointed out that I had paid for the week, they charged my credit card and there were 50 dates left that year for the Sheraton Vistana. I asked for the phone numbers for their President, Vice President and Board Members. They sent me another email and allowed me to use the trip on any available week at the Sheraton Vistana for that year.
Good Luck
ps
I had looked up skyauction on google and I believe it was the new york times had an article in which the president had been quoted as saying that they sometimes lost money on some auctions. The article was a couple years ago but I quoted the article in my last email where I asked for the phone numbers.
