I got Midland...

Which is interesting... I'm from DC... and well... though I pride myself on being pretty darn proper in my speaking (I'm a classically trained singer with a mother who wouldn't allow me to use slang in her presence ever), I know that there are times when my "DC" accent comes out. Not often, but it does... especially if I'm speaking to someone who is also DC born and bred...

If you've ever ridden the metro in DC and listened to how some of the kids speak, you'll know what a DC accent is. Thankfully, my mother drilled in me what proper speech was and never allowed me to speak anything other than properly/correctly in her presence. As a result, most people don't realize that I'm from DC... unless they make me mad then it DEFINITELY comes out.

"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.

I am a Canadian, so I guess it was correct!

When ever I said his name, he'd make fun of me, repeating: "RAAAAAAHB"

I asked him "How am I supposed to say it?" And he'd say it - and I'd try to repeat it, and I couldnt even get it out right. It was like trying to speak another language!

We went back and forth - Rob - Raaahb - Rob - Raaahb.

I finally said "Like you're one to talk, Mr Boston"

If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard

It's funny, because I have never even visited Philadelphia, New jersey, Baltimore. I was born and raised in Los Angeles. Now, I grew up in a hispanic neighborhood and people from that 'hood tend to have a slight accent. Even english speakers in that area have a different way of speaking. So, even though I can't speak a word of spanish, I guess I picked up a slight accent.

I'm pretty sure pop is a west coast term also. At least it was in my house.
Now that we're in the south, I've started calling it soda, just so I don't get funny looks when ordering. DW refuses to assimilate. If I ask her if we have any soda, she says "No, we don't, but we do have pop".

I've found that many Northeasterners (outside of Boston and NY/NJ) actually do pronounce words correctly, just like us west coasters.

That would be incorrect. There is no "w" sound in the word dawn.
