What's with the Jesus skywriting?

Yes,people can change on their own but God does change people. He has done it with me in so many ways.Whenever I try to change something about myself on my own it doesnt work,or I will change for awhile but then slip back into my old ways, when I give the problem to God real change happens

There was someone who really hurt me,I spent a few years on my own trying to forgive him but I just couldnt. One day I decided to turn to God,I prayed. When I was done praying I felt so different. All my anger for this person was gone.I couldnt do that on my own.

::yes::

I would find it offensive. I don't care if it was praising Jesus, Allah, Buddah, Mother Earth, or Ishtar. It takes away from the Disney magic for me.
Surrender Dorothy would be ok though.

I agree!
The fact that there is so much debate on this thread shows that it really does 'take away the Disney Magic'
and bring discussions that many would like to leave outside the park inside.

It is one thing/great to already 'trust' Jesus, be a Christian,etc/spread the word- tell others, etc.
You don't have to answer your door or read a pamphlet that is left. But you would usually like to
look at the sky when your in WDW.

To push it on someone else in this private setting is wrong.

Freedom of speech aside, it detracts from Jesus' original message IMO.

In case you didn't catch the wink at the end of my post, here's another ;) . This is commonly used in internet discussions, even often here on the DIS CB, to indicate that the post should not be taken at face value. I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume that you were not aware of this practice.

This doesn't mean anything though. What do you mean "give the problem to god"? How does "god change people"? You're just speaking in vaguaries. Are you saying you sat down, said some words, and god went into your brain and twisted some stuff around to change your feelings about something? So before that moment, god didn't care, but as soon as you said "amen", he did? It doesn't make any sense.

I'm not sure what is worse. Posting the things you do or trying to make them go away after you get called on them. :sad2:

God always cares and he is always there.God was waiting for me to ask for help,he was waiting for me to be ready.I had to be willing to change And yes,God does change peoples hearts.God doesnt make bad things happen to us but he does see us through them and he does make good things come out of them.
God is so wonderful,He has helped me so much in my life.My DD has diabetes. One night I was about to go to bed,I wasnt going to test her glucose levels again till 3am. I heard something tell me to go test her now.So I did.She was really low,if I had left it till 3:00 to test her, well,it would of been bad.I know that was God telling me to test her.I could of lost my little girl that night but I didnt.God saved her. I know you will find something bad to say about that story, but I dont care.those of us who know and love God with all our hearts know thats it true and we know that he will always take care of his children.

I can't believe this thread is still going strong. I read the closed one on the Theme Parks board, but I haven't read this one.

The skywriting thing wouldn't bother me. It kind of reminds me of those billboards I used to see in my area...messages from God. My favorite one was "Don't make me come down there!" :goodvibes

I did a google search to see if I could come up with some of the other sayings they had: http://www.freemaninstitute.com/billboard.htm

I don't know how many people he's really affected with his message, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

If someone was up there skywriting satanic messages it would probably freak me out but what am I going to do about it? Free speech and all.

So, bad things just sort of happen, but the good things all come because of god?

I'm not going to say anything bad, but what is wrong with assuming you had a lucky night? Or has she never been really low before that you luckily caught? I'll assume that god caused the diabetes. Why would he do that? Doesn't sound like "taking care of his children".

Sorry, obviously you have a belief system, and what I think just doesn't mesh with it, but that's the way it is.

It wasnt luck.I never would of tested her at that time. She was fine before she went to bed,she had a snack. The thought wasnt even in my head that I should test her.I wish I knew how to better explain it to you.But I do know without a doubt that it wasnt luck. And no,she has never been low before that I luckily caught.
My DD has diabetes because she has a human body. Our bodies were made to die one day,a part of that is getting diseases.God didnt stop her from getting this disease but he has helped us through it and some good has come out of it.

Yeah but just as there are peeps out there like you that don't want to hear any of it, there also are peeps out there that are desperately searching for answers or a meaning in their life, in which case they may be very interested in it. Just because you're not currently in the market for a new TV and don't want to hear any "sales" pitches, doesn't mean the next person feels like you do, in which case they may welcome it.

If I'm looking for a TV, I go to stores that have it. I don't look in the sky to see what some random skywriter's opinion of the best TV is.

I totally love this thread...lots of laughs. :lmao:

Bottom line is that everyone wants free speech and freedom of religion unless it involves Jesus. For some reason He really pisses people off. :confused3

Um no not the bottom line at all. It just looks that way because the vast majority of people that feel the need to proselytize are Christians. In fact I specifically stated that I would have the exact same issue with any religious message being skywritten at Disney and I know I am not alone.

Anyways, most people have to hit a bottom before they make a decision to change themselves or their actions. Tell me how god changed this man. I mean, a real statement, not some magical mystical answer.

God helped him look outside himself. Pick up the Bible orljustin! Read it for yourself, you will not believe me if I tell you. You could start by reading John chapter 3. The man who changed saw himself for what he really was. We are all selfish and self centered. We are not born good. If that were the case, we would not have to teach our children to do what is right. Thinking about ourself is just born in us! A baby cries when he is hungry, children lie to escape consequences or get their own way, two year olds cannot share....etc. Not that children are evil, but they have to be trained and taught to do what is right. It does not come naturally, the other does. When we focus on ourselves we are unhappy. Jesus came to serve and he allowed God to change his focus. I just prayed for you orljustin. God does love you, Jesus did die for you and He loves you so much and knows how smart you are that you can determine that for yourself, but He did leave you a guide book to discover Him, the Bible. We can disagree, God is gentle and does not force Himself on anyone. He has given all believers a job and that is to tell others. Some will listen, some will not.

See, there's that pity and condescendingness that comes off when Christians feel the need to go around saving people. You don't see Jews walking about saying "I just prayed for your soul because I love you". That's why this skywriting guy is annoying as well.

Does praying for me make you feel better, or like you are accomplishing something? 'cause I'm not feeling a thing over here. That's like on "Amazing Race" last season when the female team kept praying for Jesus to help them find the clue to the next station.

WDW? A private setting? :rotfl: Have you ever been to the MK on a Saturday? In June?

Freedom of religion allows you to worship or not worship whatever God you choose. As long as you are doing that without being jailed, you're experiencing freedom of religion.

What about MY freedom of religion when another religion is trying to pressure me into joining theirs?

Why the need to shove it down others throats? Aren't you confident enough in your religion that people will find it on their own....if it is the Truth, you shouldn't need to witness.

I don't want to know about your religion...anymore than you want to know about mine.

Not a personal attack. Just stating my point of view. A personal attack would be calling you a hypocrite which I did not.
