What's for dinner? Was it "budget"?

ziti with meatballs

ziti1$
spagetti sauce 2$
meatballs=3$
milk=2$
salad=1$
dinner rolls home made 1$

maybe I am doing good , I kept it under 20$ for all 6 of us:rolleyes1

I added it up and you really only spent $10.00 so your already ahead of the game...

I feel the stress cooking for 4, cooking for 6 would put me under.:rotfl2:

Tonight it's corn chowder w/pillsbury croissants:

8oz ham steak (bogo @ 3.69) $1.85
onion .60
butter
flour
32oz chicken stock 3.39
2 potatos from pantry
1 cup heavy cream 2.00
14 oz frozen corn 1.50
1 red pepper 1.61
green onion .40
cilantro 2.00 (will just use a little for garnish so maybe .50?)

croissants 1.00

Makes enough for 2 meals and very yummy!!!

I am making two sets of a chicken casserole type thing. . . one for me and one for DH, should make 3 adult meals each, servings total (if not more)

2 boneless/skinless chicken breasts ($2.25)
5 boneless/skinless thighs ($2.25)
2 cans of healthy request cream of chicken ($2.20)
2 cans of healthy request cream of mushroom ($2.20)
sprinkle of adobo goya seasoning (less, but for the sake of even numbers; $0.10)
frozen green giant broccoli for my casserole ($0.50)
2 packs of bisquick cheddar biscuit's (as topping) ($2.00)
drinks ($1)

Total $12 for two casserole's - $2 per serving (or less, we may get 4 serving from it, rather than my estimated three)

Cool thread!

We had carnitas burritos.

Every so often I get a 3 lb pork shoulder ($7 or so) and cook it in the crock pot - pack it with brown sugar and enough worcestershire to cover the bottom of the crock pot. Shred it when it comes out. I split it in half and mix half with bbq sauce and half with salsa, then freeze each half in 3 two-person-sized portions (so 12 servings altogether, 6 bbq and 6 salsa). We eat the bbq version on rolls for pulled pork sandwiches and the salsa version on tortillas.

The pork roast with cranberry sauce was a hit.

Tommorow is an upside down night....was hoping for strawberries but they went bad FAST

so pancakes or waffles
eggs
fruit
monkey bread

fruit will be the pricey one here....so $5 or so!!

Happy Valentines Day!!! :lovestruc

I'm making comfort food for dinner tonight. We're having meatloaf, green beans, and mashed potatoes. I was going to make a pineapple lush cake, but decided on my DH favorite cake instead. :) :lovestruc

Last night was DEFINITELY a budget dinner for us due to having no electricity because of the storm. So, we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cut up fruit, diced up cheese, and some sliced tomatoes for dinner. I know, wierd combination, but we were desperate!! LOL My oldest DS was like "WOW! We get to have pb&J sandwiches for dinner!!!??" He was pleased. I, however, was not! LOL

tonight is not budget in any way :lovestruc

Beef tenderloin (it was on sale for $5.88/lb  )
candied carrots
Rice

chocolate dipped strawberries
chocolate cupcakes/ lots of frosting

hey.....it's a holiday and even the best budgeters can take a day off :)

happy valentines day!!!

Tonight is a birthday dinner so I don't put a budget price on it, but with that being said all items from this dinner were already in the house and budgeted. No out of pocket at all...

2 very small boneless sirloins, marinated, sliced thin to stretch the meal.
Onions and mushrooms sauteed w/steak sauce
Baked potatoes with butter, green onion, and sour cream
Green Beans
Homemade rolls

Instead of a cake or store bought dessert I am on my way to make jello w/mandarin oranges that I found in the cupboard. I will make it in Champagne Flutes to "create and elegant birthday dessert".

Hope everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day!!

Not budget here either...

Good sale though.. I got a package of 4 bone-in New York steaks, really big ones, inch-thick.. for a little over $15. Originally $30, so that's an awesome price! We will put those on the grill, and serve them with baked potatoes with butter and sour cream, and fresh asparagus ($1.78 lb).

Happy Hearts Day, everyone!

I'm doing something fun for the kids by making an all red/pink dinner. Pasta with red sauce, red punch spritzers to drink, sliced red radishes, pink applesauce (just sprinkle in some red jello), and cherry cheesecake for dessert.

Big baked potatoes, salad and steaks. No it wasn't budget, but it was a lot cheaper than going out for Valentine's Day.
