I have baby back ribs marinating and I was going to throw them in the crock pot tomorrow with some SBRs. I need something easy since A's class is doing a presentation during the day. Do you have any tips? Should I just do them in the oven? We like how they come in the crock....Am I thinking too much into this??? :rolleyes1

I've been doing them in the oven for about a year now and we love them. I put them on a rack in a baking pan so that all the fat drains off. I rub them with creole seasoning, liquid smoke and that garlic in oil that you can buy in a jar. I cover them with foil and bake at 325 for about 2 hours. Uncover, slather on the SBRs and run under the broiler. YUMMO!!!!!!

I tried the multi thing and got mixed up.

I hope that the sickies are better soon. Kady was vaccinated as well but ended up with a mild case of the "chicken pops" as well. I think the vaccine helps keep the symptoms down. Glynis, I hope the your little gal feels better soon.

Aimee- I hope that this problem within your church passes soon. I agree that it is hard not to react but try not to make any decisions too soon.

Sheryl- Get well! I don't know how bad the traffic was but Buddy is not a man who can stand to be late. I don't know if he and Gary were proactive or just obsessed. Whatever you do you are going to have fun!

Kathy- I am so glad that you posted how to cook ribs. I also bought some but then regretted it becasue I don't like cooking them. I am going to try your method.

Stay safe please! I hate the thought that you all are in the path of tornadoes.

Lauren- We are going to get the storm around dinnertime and I am not happy. I need to go to my Aunts this evening and I am not looking forward to the drive back home. At least it is up the mountain and not down. You stay inside and stay safe.

I know I missed a lot, I'm sorry.

Dinner tonight is cola chicken and Princess Potatoes. Some veggie that Marisa chooses. My apologies to the Mini Iron Chef, I need to leave out the "sprinkle cheese" so that Kady can have them

Thanks Kat! Maybe I will try that way. Tom and Andrew hate when I change up recipes so I may as well stay on that course. They come pretty good in the crock but yours sound just as easy...I'll just drain off the marinade that they are in, bake, slather, broil. :thumbsup2

Nancy, Please be careful! Going downhill is scarier to me than going up. Last time I was driving in this stuff a car went off the road in front of me...:scared1: Please please please be careful. You are probably more used to driving in in then me.

We like the ribs done this way even better than on the grill!:thumbsup2

We've already had some severe weather pass through, but there's more to come.:guilty:

Stay safe. This is one crazy season isn't it? What on Earth will summer bring to us?

Heavy weather coming in here now, just in time to pick up Alexis from school.

Nancy & Lauren, Stay safe out there!

Nancy, She will be thrilled that someone else is fixing her potatoes! Although when I told her Gretchen made, she asked "Did she remember to put on the cheese!" I'm sure she'll feel really sorry to hear Kady can't have cheese! I don't know what we would feed this child if she couldn't have it!

Meds helped my stomach, but I'm afraid to take anything for the headache. I just had a coke, hoping I'm just having caffiene withdrawal!

Gotta run & get the Princess.

I did get one batch of wash done & packed. And I'm fixing an easy version of onion soup, cus we're out of leftovers. Bob has too eat something, and that's one thing that might appeal to me.

NOLA Ladies, be safe. I saw that the weather is going to be bad for you guys tonight.

We may actually have some snow for A to play in! :woohoo: He just has to get his homework done first. He dilly dallies...no wonder on his report card today the teacher says he needs to focus more...Tom said he gets it from me...ya think?

My neice is leaving for Sydney Australia tonight to study for a semester. I hope she gets out OK. How exciting is that? She actually does not start school til March so she has some beach time (its summer there).

Sheryl, We used the cheese on the potatoes! Tell Miss Alexis that they were the BEST! :goodvibes

Alexis says "I'm glad that everyone is making my Princess Potatoes! I'm happy that y'all like them! " :) :lovestruc :yay::banana: ( and she chose the smiley's)

Lauren, That is so neat that your niece gets to do that! Wow a whole semester in Australia! How cool is that!

Tell Andrew to get going on that homework so he can get outside in that snow!

Aimee, Sorry things are not going too well.

  Aimee I had thought you would be spared. Church politics can be very vicious. Don't make any rash decisions.

Aimee, I don't know what your situation is but ((((Hugs))))

Aimee--sorry things aren't going very well for you. At least no one took any personal shots. Hugs to you

I am thankful for that much for you, but I'm sure the stress is overwhelming. Hang in there, we're all pulling for you.

Aimee - for you during this rough time.

Aimee -- I am sorry you had such a rough night last night. I am glad you weren't personally attacked. Hang in there and wait to make any big decisions until you are less emotional and stressed.

Aimee - I'm so sorry that things are so icky at your church! My heart goes out to you and to the rest of the congregation. Please know that I am praying for you.

Aimee, sorry for all the stress you are under. That really stinks.

Thank you all - I appreciate it. The media got a hold of the latest and we're in the paper again. Just when you think it can't get worse...

I haven't been able to read it all yet, cus I'm running back & forth to the bathroom! I could really use some prayers! Had soup last night & was fine, but started getting a headache. This morning woke up with an awful headache so I thought I eat something before I took meds. Small bowl of rice krispies sounded good... it was not! Started up the d., ugh sorry for being gross and I'm so cold. I've got to get moving on this packing.

Argh, I am so sorry...

I have never made ribs at home but I may try that! Seems easy enough. Do you use pork or beef ribs?

We've already had some severe weather pass through, but there's more to come.:guilty:

Stay safe! We got a storm last night and Winston (the middle dog) cried all night. He all of a sudden has gotten scared of thunder and wants to come to our bed but I'm highly allergic to him and that is off limits. I didn't sleep well anyways and he didn't help! Thankfully, nothing too severe has come through.

I'm negotiating with DH for chinese. I want Panda Express...

Aimee - I use pork baby back ribs, it's so easy and they come out so good!!

My beagle Sammie is totally unphased by the weather. I was freaking out about an hour ago, we had very hard rain, high winds, the power was flickering on and off...I was calling her to come into the hall bathroom and hunker down with me but she wouldn't......:confused3

I'm making one of my experiments tonight. DS hates when I call dinner an experiment. :stir:  Actually only the potatoes are an experiment. I'm also making bbq pork chops and corn.

What a rebel! You can pick her up right? Maybe not...the way she sounds when she barks makes her seem like a huge puppy! ;)

Kat, this saucy beef recipe smells awesome! :worship:

ETA: The kid next door just came in with A and said "OMG!!!! What is that smell? It's awesome!"

I have Hershey who could care less about the weather and Minnie who is scared of her own shadow. Please stay safe I hate tornado's

Lauren We are having your Chilaquiles tonight. Of course I messing with the recipe a bit since I have no salsa and I'm not driving anymore it's to slippery. I making an enchilada sauce for it, yes from scratch.

Nancy You stay safe to. I don't think I would like driving in the mountains at all.

Aimee Tell your husband you "need" Panda express. Dr ordered. ;) Get lots of rest so you don't get sick.

Yea I can pick her up but I was so mad at her for not getting up and I was scared....rightfully so, they just came on the news and said a tornado touched down in my little neighborhood of Terrytown....OMG.:scared:

I hope the saucy steak tastes as good as it smells!

I'm finally making the cuban pie! I went and got tomatoes today. Its got about 15-20 more minutes in the oven. Smells yummo!

That's way to close for comfort. :scared1: I hope the rest of the evening is quiet.

Ok Cuban pie was a huge bummer!!!!

It was wayyyy too soupy, the crust on top never finished cooking, and it was just weird. Each individual element seemed yummy but all together it was not good. WAYYYY too saucy.

Oh well! Now I need to find something else for tomorrow night.

Oh, that's a shame, it sounded so good.
