Yea I can pick her up but I was so mad at her for not getting up and I was scared....rightfully so, they just came on the news and said a tornado touched down in my little neighborhood of Terrytown....OMG.:scared:

I hope the saucy steak tastes as good as it smells!

Oh boy, Kat. Don't panic and stay safe. That was a sad story that you posted. Let me know if you need me.

That Saucy Beef is a keeper and was AMAZING! Easy too! Thanks for sharing! Tom said it was the best thing he ever had. :thumbsup2

Ok Cuban pie was a huge bummer!!!!

Sorry it didn't turn out as planned. The recipe did look good. Next time just make the sammie. I made cuban type sandwiches over the weekend and DH raved.

Where can I find some of you guy's recipes? Do I need to go back through the thread?

Tonight, we're having venison chili. Yuck. I'm only making it for my DF who had a heck of a day out in the cold today, I am sure.

We have some crazy stuff in our freezer that we get from DF's dad...there's dear, wild boar, and Bear in there at the moment. I never make any of it, it all just sits there getting freezerburned.

I'm so glad you guys liked it, how about A, did he like it?

Yup, he rates it a 9 out of 10. It would have gotten a 10 if there wasn't any tomato chunks. ;) That was probably my fault...I didn't buy the right tomatoes...they were whole and not cut up...I should have pureed it a bit.

Oh, I have a question...I did add about a tbs of corn starch to make a thicker sauce. Does the sauce come out thick to begin with using just the flour?

I believe Lindsay was working on an index but I copied and pasted all the recipes in this thread today. Are you looking for something in particular?

That's pretty much how it goes in this house, but I had a venison loin and THREE POUNDS of ground venison. I thankfully "got rid" of the loin by making a roast for DF a while back :scared: and decided to "get rid" of that stupid mound of ground venison today. My apartment stinks and what's worse is there will be enough left for seconds.

At least I have my freezer back!!!

My guys can't stand pieces of tomato so I always blend the tomatoes before I use them. Also, the flour usually thickens it enough, but maybe the blended tomatoes help too.

My sister makes a really good venison stew during Xmas. I have only cooked a roast and sausage...both were OK but I wouldn't go out of my way to acquire any more. I hope you get rid of it all soon!

OK so next time I will do it with blended tomatoes and no corn starch...I have to say, I doubled the recipe and its almost gone! Just enough for my lunch tomorrow! Oh, I served it with egg noodles!

LOVE THIS ONE KAT!!!!!!!!!
:cool1: :cool1: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay: :yay: :dance3: :dance3:

Lauren The mexican lasagna rocks.

Kathy The tortilla chips worked really well. I put some of the enchillada sauce on them and they got soft and yummy.

Oh boy! I didn't know you were making it tonight...what kind of enchilada sauce did you use? The red stuff? I am blonde remember?

I am glad you liked it. Did you try it at F&W?

I double it too.:lmao: I actually prefer it with egg noodles.

Red enchilada sauce I made my own. It is really easy and tastes way better than the canned stuffed.

10 minute enchilada sauce

1/4 c oil
2 tbsp flour
1/4c chili powder
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 1/2 c water
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion salt
salt to taste

heat oil in a skillet over med high heat. Stir in flour and chili powder, reduce heat to medium and cook until lightly brown. stirring constantly to prevent burning flour. gradually stir in tomato sauce, water, cumin garlic powder and onion salt. stir until smooth continue to cook over med heat approx 10 min or until thickened. Season with salt.

Kathy--Yikes! That is a little too close for comfort. And what a sad story. We're hearing lots and lots of them after the tornadoes here last Tuesday night. Glad to hear that the bad weather is for the most part over. Must go check out the Saucy Steak recipe. I must've missed it when I was under the weather last week!

AngelHalo--sorry the recipe was a dud!

Janice, looks good. I copied and pasted your recipe...I have never used enchilada sauce before. I guess I will now...:thumbsup2 Thanks!

Ok Cuban pie was a huge bummer!!!!

It was wayyyy too soupy, the crust on top never finished cooking, and it was just weird. Each individual element seemed yummy but all together it was not good. WAYYYY too saucy.

Oh well! Now I need to find something else for tomorrow night.

What a bummer! I hate when recipes don't turn out.

I think we're OK for the rest of the evening.....A sad story that happened as a result of the weather today:

Oooh, thanks so much for this!! I knew there had to be a way to make my own to save some $. We use enchilada sauce quite a bit actually. Is this a pretty mild recipe? I can't do hot. I'm a big baby.

BTW - I did get my panda bowl for dinner. YUM!
