Laura Spend your time with Greg and the kids. We can wait.

What and incredibly long day! I am going to go fill my tank for the grill. I need to figure what is for dinner. I was too busy at work to think.

Laura--Now hush......we will be here, enjoy this sweet time with Greg and the kids, we will see you in 2 weeks.......if we have anything major we need to tell you we will send it through Becky............and please give Greg a huge Thank You from all of us as well.... a true American Hero!

We are going out somewhere today, don't know where yet.

WFD at your house?

Good morning!

Last night I ended up grilling sausages with a side of potatoes and brocolli. It made it feel like summer.

Tonight I thought about grilling again but it is raining here so we will have to see.

Did anyone watch Dinsey Splurge? While Costa Rica looks very pretty I am so not going on that rope thing.

Today is actually my parents 50th Anniversary...so they are coming over my house for dinner. We are having a thanksgiving spread, I had a turkey defrosted. Butterball fresh Turkey was only .39 lb, what a deal!

WFD- shrimp cocktail, turkey, sausage stuffing, butternut squash, green beans, real mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls, and strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

Have a great day everyone!
Ann

Laura, I am so happy for you and your family! Like others said, do not worry about us, just enjoy your time and please, thank Greg for us... :)

Yeah, that does look crazy. Did you ever see the Paula Deen special where she does that? She is one cool lady.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOUR PARENTS!!! This is supposed to be gold, for golden!!!

Have a great time!

We have a few things to do today, hopefully some painting and then Andrew has a game at 7:30. I think we are planning to go out for a quick early dinner.

Have a great day all!

Morning all--thought I would pop in while Ross finishes eating, and getting ready to go teach his little dragons.

My situation with my gram's home care has been taken care of in a way that we are all happy with (meaning her, :)) I shouldn't complain this is only the second major problem we have had in 12 years, I just stress as she is alone and 94 and I want to be able to have her stay in her home for as long as possible.
My next issue I am now dealing with is my dad....he is just sooo sad and alone that my heart breaks.......PLUS......he is having some minor complications starting up that are from his radiation for prostate cancer that he had 2.5 years ago. He is going to come stay with me for a few weeks in May then fly back, and then come back up for the months of Aug, Sept, and Oct. My mothers burial and spreading of her ashes will be done in Sept.
He just informed me (are you ready for this) that at the age of 72 he has NEVER had a colonoscopy!!! His dr wants him to have one (ya think?!!?) but he can't do it in Florida as he is all alone and needs someone there for after, so I am going to line it up for him to have it done while he is here, as soon as I said this to him, he seemed a bit relaxed about it, I called one of his friends here to find out who he went to and tell him about it, he gave me the name of his Dr and also he called to talk to my dad for me as well.
Anyway I am just rambling and this might not even make sense to anyone....I am just worried about my daddy, and I will be glad when he is here so I can take care of him! I won't mind him going back as I know he will be back a few months later, we are also going to go to Florida for Christmas, so he isn't alone, and I also have to (gulp) clean my mom's room out for him, he just can't do it and it eats at him.
OK I am a downer today I guess....I apologize.....

How about this: Supper will be glazed chicken with cous cous and carrots

Have a wonderful day!!! :)

I had to tape it, we decided to watch a movie. I'll check it out today.:goodvibes

I laughed so hard at that I was in tears!!!:rotfl2:

WFD - Mediterranean Steak Kabobs, Nancy's Greek Potatoes and Asparagus Bundles.

Wendie- I am happy that your Gram is happy with her arrangement. At 94, Bless her heart, it really is all about her, as it should be. Your poor Dad. :hug:Coming home to you is going to be so good for both of you. It will give you both a chance to find some sort of peace. I hate that term "closure", have no idea what it means. I put off cleaning my Mom's room for as long as I could. I cannot imagine how it must hurt your Dad. Thank God you and your family are there for him. :grouphug:
Now don't worry about being a downer, I know that so many of us here have been through this and it is never easy. Without all of you I have no idea how I would have gotten through the first year. You all found ways to make life a little more normal for me and I will try to return that huge favor.

Ann- Happy Anniversary to you parents! 50 years is such a milestone and to celebrate with family the frosting on the cake. Are you having cake? I am craving cake today :upsidedow

Janice- I taped the special as well. I want to watch it with Marisa and Kady. My party pooper is avoiding all things Disney right now because he sees himself getting roped into another vacation and he cannot find his way out :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm not sure about dinner tonight. Last night we finished all of the leftovers in the house! Tonight Marisa, Jeff and Kady will probably go to Dan's for dinner. Erica's Mom is in for the weekend so I bet there will be cards there tonight. Buddy and I are heading over to Tractor Supply (yes, I lead and exciting life :woohoo:) and will probably get something out.

Now I am heading out to get my hair done. I had to cancel the last two appointments because I was with my Aunt so I am desperate! I cannot wait! Cut, color and highlights :cheer2:. Buddy asked if I had a 30 minute appointment, like on 30 minute meals> I just laughed and told him I am booked for the rest of the afternoon!

Wendie - We must have been posting at the same time. Girl, I'd slap you silly if I could. Don't you ever apologize and say you're a downer after everything you've been through.

I'm so glad that everything is working out for Gram so that she can stay home, that really does mean a lot to them. As for your Daddy, I totally understand how you feel the need and want to take care of him. I feel kinda bad sometimes because I took care of mine for 15 years and I used to complain about it. I was the only one and at times it felt like such a burden. I'd give anything to be able to do it again now. So you do everything you can to take really good care of him and when the time comes you know I'll be praying for strength for you to do the difficult task of cleaning your Mom's room.

Wendie - Don't ever apologize to us! We are your family, and we care about you. This is not something that you can get over in just a few months. When you lose a parent, it is a forever loss! Please know that we are here for you! Always!!!!!

I'm so glad that everyone that was hit with yucky weather seems to be ok. Earthquakes scare me. So guess where we live????? Yup, right along the largest fault line in Utah! :scared1:

I haven't posted in a couple of days. Just haven't felt good. Low grade ickiness!

Dinner tonight will be mac and cheese for the kids, and some kind of soup for Alan and me. He did take me out to dinner last night. We went to Jason's Deli and had yummy Tomato Basil soup and a great salad bar. He ordered a half sandwich that was yummy, too.

Have a great spring day, everyone! We are taking our boat out for the first time. Just to make sure it's running ok.

Tonight we are having chicken with gravy on biscuits. My biscuit recipe is good, but not great, does anyone have one they are willing to share? I have a lot of buttermilk to use up. I'm not sure what else we will have. We are having a perfect spring day, it's almost warm enough for a t-shirt!

Wendie, There is no need to apologize. We are here for you, that is what friends are for. I am glad that things worked out for Gram and that your Dad can come visit for a while.

Nancy, Tom wanted to go to Tractor Supply last night at like 7:30!!! At that point, I was in my jammies and watching a movie. No, I don't think so. I have been really tired lately and just didn't have it in me.

Kat, I need to order those steak kabobs again soon. They are amazing.

You all are just the best bunch of friends!! I really have no idea how I would get through any of this without all of you!!

Lauren--weepy, craving odd foods, tired......all things crossed my friend!!

Hi Everyone! I am just checking in quickly to say thanks for all the welcome home wishes for Greg. He looks great and is very happy to be home for a couple weeks. Liam and Caili were so surprised to see him when they got out of school yesterday. They both ran and jumped into his arms. It was terrific.

Anyway, between Greg being here and school vacation next week, I may not be on as often, but I will try to check in with everyone when I can. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Dinner tonight is at my neighbor's house. I know she is grilling lamb, but I'm not sure what else we are having.

I'm so glad you have this unexpected time!! :dance3:

What a great spread you have planned! Sounds delicious.

I would be worried, too.

Um, I use bisquick  (I don't bake)

My retreat went SO well this weekend - weather was gorgeous and just had a great time.

We have a wedding tonight. I don't wanna go... :rolleyes1 I am tired; I never sleep well and getting dressed up to go to a wedding doesn't sound appealing. We may bail and send them a really nice gift. We'll see.

So, dinner is up in the air.

I too am crossed ;)

I am soo jealous Tractor supply:laughing: I think Buddy was trying to say he didn't think you needed to spend all day since you are beautiful to him :goodvibes

We are having catfish with pretzel bread and some kind of veggie. The pretzel bread is cause I really want to be in Disney right now.

Rogue I think on the old thread someone had a biscuit recipe. I'll go look.
