What's considered normal in your home but weird in others?

No High Def TV. Well we have high def channel just seem to always be watching lower grade channels. I think we need the filtering. I will watch football in high def but thats about it.

It always drives me crazy when people on TV sit on their bed or sofa with shoes on. It always squicks me out. But I guess I never realized how ingrained people wearing shoes on TV is because I was watching Episodes (fantastic show btw if you like dry humor) and Matt Leblanc was sitting around his house barefoot and it was so jarring. Like I live in FL, I see bare feet all the time but it was weird and really stood out in that one scene.

Do people wear PJs more than once?
Yes! Growing up I know I was expected to, and I’ve heard of people who put them under their pillow for the next night. https://www.cleaninginstitute.org/cleaning-tips/clothes/laundry-basics/do-i-need-wash

A lot of things mentioned aren't weird at all and we do them too.

One weird thing about our home is, there are Lego sets on display EVERYWHERE. Other than the bathrooms and laundry room, you will find lego used as decoration in every room in the house.

Episodes was great. That is all. :wave2:

...TP needs to feed over the top or I will switch it because I'm thoughtful and you clearly didn't mean for it to be the opposite way because that would mean you're crazy. ...

...Your toilet paper has a mullet.

Unless the weather's hot, we leave butter out, too. Definitely bread in the freezer. 99% of the time buy eggs in sixes. Merge laundry, too, most of the time.

We listen to CDs and vinyls - that's probably weird to some. :music: And we eat lots of peas straight out of the pods.

I don’t know how it started but it is now the norm. With the exception of really messy meals, we now eat dinner in the living room watching Jeopardy. I think I fought not sitting down to dinner at the table at first, but now I’m completely onboard. We actually record Jeopardy and watch it whenever we have dinner together. It seems strange but our whole family, including DS23 and DD17, really enjoy it. It seems to lead to lots of good conversations.

Being a military family that moves and rents frequently, taking off shoes is a way to protect the carpet. I won’t demand a guest remove them, but if asked I will prefer they take them off. It seems in our military circle of friends, most will ask at the door if they should remove their shoes and are prepared to do so. We like our deposits back. Lol

I'll wear them up to a week if I shower every day and don't get sweaty at night.
Yeah, I don’t really know anyone who changes their sheets every single night so not sure why you would have to wear pajamas only once.

Everyone in my family sleeps naked so pajamas are only worn for brief periods of time if at all so they are definitely not washed daily.

I also wear underwear to bed, if one doesn't I could see washing pajamas more often.

Well, it wouldn't be weird in Canada, but I get the impression that taking your shoes off at the door when you enter someone's home in the US can be considered weird. I don't care if you think your shoes are clean. Trust me. They aren't. And no, I'm not just talking about if they are wet or muddy or snowy. I'm talking about all of the time. Now, if you had some medical reason that required you wearing shoes indoors, I would have no problem, but in general, we prefer people take their outdoor footwear off in our home.

I grew up in the MIdwest. I never heard of taking your shoes off inside until I read it on the DIS. I have never met anyone who does this. Of course, we'd take off showboots covered in snow, but not regular street shoes.

I am the same as many here with the captioning on all of the TVs. We started using it while struggling to watch 'The Man in the High Castle'--the Trade Minister guy was especially maddening. We were constantly rewinding and straining to hear what he was saying, but almost everyone that show mumbled. Captioning became a way of life after.

Apparently taking my shoes off at the door. Who knew it was weird to want to keep the road salt, sand and mud out of my house?
I'm one of the people who mentioned people I know expecting to be able to wear shoes in a house, but I did include a qualifier. Everyone I know would remove their shoes, if they had road salt, sand, mud, snow, etc. on them. If they've been walking on concrete, pavement, dry grass, etc, they wipe their shoes on the mat & go on in.
