I also just think it's to promote DVC onsite and is an advertisement of a new sign--JMHO

Thanks for the tip Sammie! I will be standing down from high alert status.

Although, it would seem like they would announce the DVC at CR sometime soon.... but perhaps that's only in my mind. I'm sure they will only annunce it when they have to.

Another thought ... DL and Hawaii have been talked about a lot as possible/probable locations for a new DVC. It seems like they would get a bigger bang if they were announced together, giving west coast people a huge reason to buy DVC. Perhaps a bit in fantasyland, but would be very audacious.

The existing sign is promoting awareness by displaying the DVC logo. But what is coming soon? Another sign with the DVC logo to promote awareness? Now, THERE is something that should be wrapped up in ribbons!

I'm having flashbacks to my college years. There were a series of billboards all around Syracuse that said "It's Coming" or something to that effect. All of us advertising majors were dying to know what "It" was. (Geeky, I know.) It turned out to be something boring, like a new barbecue sauce. So lame, I can't even remember it now. All I remember is the disappointment when it was finally unvailed.

I hope DVC isn't doing the same thing; building up to what will only be a big let-down in the end. I usually have more faith in Disney's advertising department than that, though, so I'll be waiting with bated breath despite my bad past experience with teaser billboards.

FWIW, I spoke to DVC today regarding a reservation.

I asked her about the sign and the CR added to DVC. She stated she had been asked a bunch of times about this and had no idea what was going on.

I can't see them offering wine... I have a feeling some of the DVC people feel that we owners whine enough. Maybe some cheese?

I must admit: if the goal was to keep us guessing, it sure worked! I saw the sign when I was down there last week and it did make me wonder . . . glad to see that I am not the only one!

I think it will announce something . . . but I would suspect maybe nothing so grand as a new resort . . . how could they possibly keep something like that secret for so long?

I'm curious: in the past, how much info leaking occurred in advance of the announcement of a new resort? Did the Disboards frequently have the inside scoop? Say, before Saratoga was announced? Just curious about the board's track record in that area . . . anyone remember?

About the new DVC sites.......I'm a new DVC owner and my contracts, I read everything, had a bold paragraph about a DVC club of Eagle Pines. Eagle Pines I believe is a golf course? I did not read all the post here so some one may have already mentioned this.

Eagle Pines is a golf course and was supposed to be a DVC location to be built before SSR. However, when DVC acquired the land across from DTD, they abandoned EP to do SSR. I would kinda doubt if they go back to EP right now, but you never know.
