The adventures of Tiggerdad (A collection of camping locations, mishaps, reviews, alterations, food, and whatever else I can find)

we stayed at racoon mtn last year, agree, nice CG, also a nice cave tour, did the falls and rock city too, all pretty fun, nice walk at RC, we were going to stay again this spring after Florida trip but with a new GD on the way, gramma has to be home end of April!

So we did Ruby Falls at night and it was still lit for Christmas.

Sorry, I'll fix prior post repeated pics. A storm had rolled through which gave Chattanooga a neat look.

As usual pics don't do it justice, but this was certainly a neat holiday display to walk through. Place is truly amazing and I would highly recommend a tour whether daytime tonight.

The pictures are great....knowing how inadequate phone pictures are in showing such grand scenes, I know the real view had to be spectacular! Sounds like a great thing to add to "the list"! Thanks for sharing so we know where we need to hit up :thumbsup2

Chattanooga is a great place to visit.

I spent 3 semesters there (in its suburbs) as a UA Engineering Co-op at TVA's nuclear power plant at Soddy-Daisy, TN (Sequoyah Nuclear Plant) in the late 1980s. PS - 3 semesters together is approximately a calendar year.

I'm a little upset at @tiggerdad because they did TWO visits to Rock City (day/night) and left out the Tennessee Valley Railroad train ride. Although, I forgive him since Raccoon Mtn is close to Rock City and the TVRR only has mostly holiday-themed rides this time of year which is across the Tennessee River over Missionary Ridge.

Oh, but dude,

- I love the night pic of the four of you at Rock City.

And then later on in your same post #825,

- I love the night pic of the four of you at Rock City.

(I'm having double vision).

It's either double vision or too much eggnog. :drinking1It's hard to tell which it is ..... :confused3

Hey, at least you got the camper out of the barn again and renewed some family memories before you hit the work/school/family calendar in January.

You done good! :thumbsup2

Found my picture of Sequoyah NP while I was taking pics of the upstairs railroad. Worked a lot of overtime hours there (it all helped pay for school). Being on the line/in a plant/with production does have a practical benefit of understanding how things work.

That commute from Red Bank to Soddy Daisy and back was monotonous. I worked 6 days a week 10+ hours a day unless I went home for a Bama home football game. Interesting work but it paid the bills.

Okay, so have been on a 2 month every weekend run with my daughter's winter guard group and their competitions. My oldest daughter was there the first year that their school started doing this. for those of you who don't know, Winter Guard is essentially the color guard for a marching band that performs without the rest of band, typically a dance routine with lots of flags, sabers, and rifles (wooden props). Oldest daughter competed for 3 years, and by the third year they took 3rd place in state which was totally unheard of but the girls did work hard. That was in 2023, her senior year. Bringing home the bronze!

Now my youngest daughter has decided to compete as well, so this was her first year. We were in Oxford, MS last weekend for the state finals and a dad could not be prouder than myself to watch our girls take first place in state and bring home the gold and the trophy!

So, now my weekend running is done and i can start to focus on getting some things done. One of those major projects has to do with the interior of our 5th wheel. When we bought it we got it on a steal because nobody wanted the interior setup which was the table and chairs and the fold out couch. That couch was useless, only one person could enjoy it at a time and even then they were not comfortable. The table and chairs had the two standard dining chairs, but then you had to keep the other two chairs in storage under the bed and drag them out once you got where you were going. totally a pain in the rear.

So I've been eyeing for some time replacement furniture. we wanted recliners as well as booth dinette as it gave enough seating for 4 at the table for eating and for board games, but you also got the under the bench storage. Done my research and essentially RecPro seemed to have the best option. We ordered off of amazon and within 3 days i had a few boxes to deal with.

Now I'll take the time to bring up something about strong questions. there are always those strong questions in life that leave us all without a good answer. Things like, if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there, does it make a sound? Well, folks, i have come across one very similar.

How exactly does one get into a cardboard box, sealed with double layer packing tape without using a sharp item?

After much debate, head scratching, and a brief trial with a monkey wrench, i decided i was just going to have to break the rules and use my knife. Luckily the world did not stop spinning and i was able to get into the boxes and unpack everything.

One of my problems was the recliners are electric, so i was having to put in an outlet on teh slide as it did not have one. However, during the removal of the old furniture look what i found hidden behind the couch where you absolutely could not see it. This is a testament to RV manufacturers having no care in their products.

you can tell by the imprint in the carpet the couch completely covered it up and since it was screwed down you couldn't move the couch to get to it. At least it saved me having to run a newline

Next post for the rest of the project.

Okay, this stuff was packed pretty well. Each item had a cover over it so that was nice.

I went with L brackets to secure the dinette seats down.
20250402_193720.jpg20250402_193712.jpg

I then drilled new hole in the slide and moved the hidden outlet box down the wall so it fits nice under the dinette.
20250403_195541.jpg

Once all done it looked real good and massively more comfortable.

I also fixed another issue. On either side of the bed was a storage cabinet that was fairly tall. Problem was it really needed a shelf so you could better utilize it so I fixed that too.

1. GOOD JOB on the Fifth Wheel.
2. But, am in a MAJOR state of disbelief !!!
. . . It has been before COVID that I last saw you and the girls.
. . . The wife is as beautiful as ever.
. . . But, can't believe the daughters are so grown.
. . . No Way! Can't be!
. . . My Goodness - how has time passed !
3. Look forward to seeing you and family again at The Fort.

It was 2020 our last time down. Unfortunately Disney has made things massively too expensive and too complicated to have a fun vacation like we should. We have done some out west runs but we have talked about a return run. Maybe stay at FW, but do more off property things like Coco Beach, SeaWorld, or other things. I promise, you'll be the 2nd to know!
