We've had several threads on this board about the current value of the Pin 960: Mickey Ears US (United States) Flag .

Two months ago, the pin was a popular rack pin. Today it's a highly sought after commodity. In a year, it may be no more than a popular rack pin again.

The pin is available today from the following sources:

1. At WDW/Epcot -- two per person, @ $6.50 + tax, but it keeps selling out.
2. From an auction site -- prices seem to range from $20 and up.
3. From cheappins.com -- two per person, @ $9.95 + postage, availability fluctuates.
4. Per Dizpins News, soon to be available at DLR -- presumably for $6.50 + tax
5. From a trade.

So, let's say you decide to go with option #5.

A. As the trader, what would you expect to be a reasonable trade offer?
B. As a prospective recipient, what would you feel is a reasonable offer?

One more question . . .

C. Is the new DVC pin, #7562: DVC Mickey Flag US, of the same value as #960?

Inquiring minds want to know.
:D

I do not trade, but I think a reasonable offer would be 2-100 years of dreams for one Mickey flag pin.

The cost is roughly the same and the YoD pins are very hot as well.

Maybe this will spark someone's imagination.

Oh, by the way, if you want a free one, you can have the one I lost in my gravel driveway on Saturday, but hurry, we're getting it paved soon! :(

I still consider it just a rack pin. It will not be as hot after time, and I'd sure hate to give up something more 'valuable' for just a rack pin, when in a few months I could probably buy it freely again.

As a side note... a new mall opened up here in Tampa the weekend after the attacks (opened the same day we were hit with TS Gabrielle, so they did not have a good opening day! - but I was there! - kind of had to be, I work right next door and wasn't about to drive home in the bad weather.. but anyways...).... all over the mall are some infamous front pages of the St. Pete Times (i.e. JFK shooting, Skyway bridge accident, Princess Di's funeral, etc.). Close to the food court was one (and the only one in the mall) of the 9/12/01 edition. A black ribbon was strung across it, and people were sticking things on the ribbon - notes, pins, ribbons, etc. A Mickey head w/ US flag was pinned to it. :)

I too would say it's a rack pin. Like Dar said they are "hot" now but in weeks to come Disney will have them all over the place.

As for the DVC pin.......that one is dated and stamped on the back. I would think that one would require more than a rack pin....but not sure what.

Anyone know how many DVC member's there are?? :D That number times 2.

if you want to trade for it like it is next year I suggest you wait until next year, On property it is hotter than Mickey for President. That is no exaggeration. Guests who come from all over see EVERY SINGLE CM wearing one and that creates the "gotta have one" mentality. The fact that they are gone as soon as they come in feeds that mentality. Guests who will NEVER want or collect another pin want this pin. Only pin collectors want the MfP. 80% of all the guests want the ears. So while we may all agree with you about it's "value" some day down the raod. It IS the pin to have right now.

When I wear my Disney patriotic pins, I just plain feel better. My DD has our only Mickey head/USA(2000), but she lets me wear it, when I get all my USA pins on. (I even have a US flag from the Sydney Olympics!)
That being said, I am ISO the new DVC-Mickey head/USA flag pin. I know that this pin is engraved on the back ("in memory of September 11th", perhaps?), & I probably don't have the trading firepower to get it, but I sure would like to try. I have extras of many of the 100 Years pin + others(PinPics nick of "agnes") & would consider trading multiples to get this newest DVC pin. Please, if you have an extra, please e-mail me & maybe we can work out a trade.
Thanks in advance,
agnes!
PS - In my opinion, the DVC pin is worth much more than the rack/USA flag/Mickey head pin, since it is engraved with a dated message on the back.

all the people that work for me know that steve and i are big into pin trading...one of the girls called me the other day and asked if we had this pin or that pin...we had most. then she asked if we had the mickey hands holding the epcot earth that spins to the epcot ball...i said no, so she got it for me.....she said she was looking for the american flag mickey head, which i had an extra....so i traded it with her...she was so excited, because even though she didn't want to be like steve and i, it was her first trade...
so, i feel the same..it's a rack pin....i traded for a rack pin...equal price value

Ok, I'm going to say it :) - if I were to trade one of my Mickey ears US flag pins now, I would want/expect something more than a 100 Years of Dreams pin or a plain rack pin. However, for me it's a moot point since I do not plan to trade the pins :).

As for the DVC Mickey ears US flag pin - all I can say is WOW! These pins are wonderful! They are different than the rack pin - DVC pin has thirteen stripes & seven full stars. Also, the texture of the pin is more like the Figaro water bowl from the 100 Years of Dreams pin. I'm definitely not trading this one either:)!

I agree it is a rack pin. Just like Puppy Love and the Portrait Pin from the Art of Disney. it is hot now but Disney will get more to fill the need. As for the DVC pin. Well we got 2 and will never trade either one of them. I think that will be a rarer pin as time goes on.
