I'm going to start baking today and just wanted some ideas!

This year I am doing:

Snowball cookies
Sugar Cookies
Gingerbread
Snickerdoodles
Chocolate Chip

We'll do....

sugar cookies
peanut butter blossoms
oatmeal raisen
chocolate crinkle
M&M cookies
meringue shaped Santa hats with red sugar

Cookies! YUM!

We won't start yet, but we will make
butter cookies :santa:
holiday shaped sugar cookies (the ones the girls touch and make are for the reindeer, the big ones are for santa) :santa:
oatmeal choc chip cookies :santa:
cinnamon twists :santa:

My wife has to make 15 dozen cookies for a charity bake sale this weekend. Her staples are macaroons, peanut butter chip with pecans and peanut butter/oatmeal.

I am getting hungry just thinking about it.

DD13's english class (7th grade) is studying victorian literature, focusing on Charles Dickens at the moment, and will be doing a victorian Christmas celebration next week. for this, i'll be baking at least 3 dozen tea cakes and at least one loaf of banana nut bread.

Slice and bake Pillsbury Sugar Cookies!! :thumbsup2

the cookies I always do:

nutmeg/eggnog cookies
Choc hazelnut crinkles (Nutella)
Vanilla cake mix with crushed candy canes
Italian sour cream lemon and orange cookies
almond paste

Cookies I might add:
Nanaimo bars
miini brownies with green mint frosting
mini cheesecakes
chai spice
something cranberry

I have more time this year, so I really want to do it up. Depending on DD's mood, we may do decorated sugar cookies. Might experiment with royal frosting this year.

The old standbys are:

Chocolate Chip
Sugar Cookies
Shortbread Cookies dipped 1/2 in chocolate
Anisette Cookies
Chocolate Pepper Cookies
Russian Tea Cakes
Snickerdoodles
Gingersnaps
Lemon Poppyseed

Then I start looking through the cookie books to see what I feel like making. I usually wind up with 12 - 15 different types of cookies. I think I may look for something that has salted caramel on it or in it for something different this year.

I make a bunch of platters to give away for Christmas to neighbors, friends and family.

Oh, and DD is in a cookie exchange at school this year. She hasn't told me what we'll be making yet for that.

Would you share the nutella and Italian sour cream recipes with us? They sound delicious!

oatmeal raisin
scotchies
raspberry jam thumbprints with white chocolate drizzle (actually just made a batch of those last night!)
snickerdoodles
smores bars

I make only one type of cookie every year... chocolate chip, with or without nuts. I make them for gifts, etc., and have to hear people begging for them all year long :lmao:. I make a marble cookie, a mixture of regular cc dough and deep chocolate dough. One is too hard, one is too soft, together they make a perfect cookie! :thumbsup2

Raspberry jam thumbprints.... I love ANYTHING raspberry!! Can you share the recipe??? :worship:

Our family ritually makes the same cookies every year:

Teacakes - shortbread balls with walnuts rolled in sugar
Chocolate Meatballs - Chocolate cookie with cloves and cinnamon - end up looking like frosted meatballs
Cut-Outs - for us it is just not Christmas without them
Buckeyes - Peanut butter fudge balls dipped in chocolate
Cream Cheese Spritz - pressed cookies

and this year I really want to try these: Paula Deen's Chocolate Gooey Butter Cookies. :)

Vegan Rice Krispie Treats
Vegan Caramel
Vegan Fudge

I guess not much in the way of cookies.

This year I decided to bake a bunch of different cookies but only 1 batch of each. So far I made:
Snicker-doodles
Peanut Butter Blossoms
A simple Peanut Butter Cookie
Chocolate sandwich cookies
Coconut Cookie

Left to do....
Thumbprint cookies
The best chocolate chip raisin cookie EVER
Coconut Balls
Chocolate Balls
Chinese Almond cookies
Sugar Cookies and maybe some irish potatoes.

If anyone needs to find great recipes, I am a huge fan off allrecipes.com I like that people rate the recipes and make recommendations. You can also search by ingredients.

Absolutely!!!

Any sugar cookie recipe, or even sugar cookie mix from a pouch! (if you use this, mix in some flour, 3 teaspoons or so)

Roll dough into 3/4 inch balls. make indentations in the center of each cookie. spoon about 1/4 teaspoon raspberry jam into each indentation. bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes.

melt white chips in microwave. I do 45 seconds then stir and then 45 more seconds. that gets them the perfect consistency for drizzling. When the cookies come out of the oven, do the drizzling right then. I use a fork. I found that works best to dip the fork in the melted chips and then shake it back and forth over the cookies. yum!!! :goodvibes

Peanut Butter Blossoms
Snickerdoodles
Pizzelle's
Raspberry Thumbprint
Cow Piles
Chocolate Chip
Magic Cookie Bars

I better get busy! :santa:
