What to expect for DL's 60th anniversary in 2015 (Starting May 22)

Just made reservations for July 16th – 20th for our family (and significant others) to converge on the DLR for the 60th Anniversary and DW’s birthday! Looking forward to new fireworks, as well as several (as-yet-to-be-named ) anniversary special events.

Hmmm. So maybe 2015 will be the best year to visit. As long as their "enhancements" aren't FP+...

When we were there for the DL half in August, they had a whole section of entrance closed and blocked by wooden walls....

PAINT THE NIGHT PARADE coming to DL for 60th Anniversary. Looks like the Hong Kong Parade or a form of it is coming to DL.

"Shortly after the holiday pixie dust settles and Main Street, USA sparkles from being thoroughly cleaned by soap snow, the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California will begin prepping for a brand new night-time parade to begin during its 60th anniversary year.

The confirmed news comes way of two recently posted casting calls for both male and female dancers with auditions taking place the second week of January, 2015 (a start date for the parade itself was not provided). Although vague on details, the notices are looking to find ‘performers with strong dancing skills for an exciting and high-energy nighttime parade that winds its way through the heart of Disneyland Park.’ ‘Strong movement and dance skills’ are required.

Current rumors point to ‘Paint the Night,’ which recently premiered at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort as being the basis for the new night-time entertainment at Disneyland. The concept art shown here is from Hong Kong as Disney Parks and Resorts have yet to confirm anything officially.

I should have left a blanket on the curb while we were there a couple weeks ago so I could have a spot saved to see the new parade next year. ;)

Based on how bad that behavior was just for the regular Christmas parade, I can't imagine how it will be for a new night parade!

Oh I can't wait, Paint the Night looks great, if they make it longer and some more Classic Disney included also it will be amazing!

Thanks Mike for the info!

We reported Paint The Night on the March 13, 2014 episode of the DIS Unplugged: Disneyland Edition (and confirmed in on this Thursday's episode). Not sure what makes that other site #1. :rolleyes1

Back before my first ever visit to WDW the founder of this site was frequently on this DLR forum before his first trip there. He was a heavy WDW vet. I cannot remember his name but remember when started his site. He was perfectly pleasant and helpful.

As you know, frequently WDW vets think of WDW as "Disney" and forget about the rest of the resorts. So claiming to be #1 at "Disney news" may very well have little to do with this DLR forum.

In any case, good job (again) for being on top of this. :)

In other threads I have posted about a May 15 date for the beginning of the 60th anniversary celebration at DL. I thought this was out there as a reliable rumor but after getting a PM on it I could not confirm where I had seen this date. So I do not know anything more about this date than anyone else and I am sure a lot less than some.

Bottom line is the general time frame of May 1 through May 22 (the Friday before Memorial Day) are all viable dates.

I was really hoping to surprise the kids this year and stay onsite but the prices just continue to skyrocket for DLH and GCH. They have priced me out to probably another stay on harbor blvd.

I was to book just hotel only are there any ways to get a discount? AAA?

Trey are you trying to go on the actual anniversary date? We are thinking like the second week of June.

.

I thought DLR hotels took AAA. But the prices are super high.

No. I have several trips to SoCal for personal and business reasons next summer. Weddings, two graduations and a business conference in SD in June. Also I am going to the D23 Expo in August. It looks like we will visit DLR in June or August (before the Expo).

Looks like if I get to take a trip to DL this year it will be the 11th and 12th :headache:

Four days before the 60th anniversary and before one of my absolute favorite rides reopens :sad::sad:

I'm really excited for the 60th Anniversary, the parade sounds so exciting and I can't wait to see it :) I am going to be staying at PPH I think the 16th-18th. I can't wait to hear even more details about what is going to happen, but I am sure we won't hear more until it gets closer.
