We just came back from our first visit. We booked two ressies, 3 days in a dedicated 2br, then left for the w/e and returned to a 2 br (1br/studio combo). We were considering another add on to our 200 pts, but wanted to trial the accomodations, to see what would fit best with us. Two parents and two teens had AMPLE room in just a 1 br. But, when my DD, SIL and 2 grndkids joined us and took over the lockoff studio... things got a bit crowded in the living room, esp when someone wanted to crash on the sofabed.
My teens LOVED the privacy the 2nd bedroom afforded them, along with their own bathroom... but I think it might be scary for a 6 year old.. too far from the master bedroom, too many doors. The floorplan is a bit confusing, and could be nightmarish to a young person if they woke up disoriented. They could easily end up in the hallway outside. It would be very hard to hear if anything was amiss from the master bedroom. To us, the 2nd br was just too isolated from the main living area/ master bedroom.
There is very little difference between the second bedrrom and a lockoff studio except the lockoff has another exit/entrance to the hallway. Also, the lock off, can be LOCKED OFF.. meaning one may not be able to access it from the 1br should the deadbolt be thrown.. We didn't have a problem, even though the grandson (age 3) was facinated by the doors, but we kept the key to the outside door handy should he lock himself in (or his 6 yr old sister lock him out !)
Guess I just can't encourage using a 2 br for your family until DD is older.
We did learn something else though that you might want to consider. We first arrived on Tuesday noon, and things went incredibly smoothly when checking in. Rooms were ready, adequate staffing, etc... just a very pleasurable experience to be "welcomed home" too. THEN we tried checking in on Sunday along with the rest of the nation and things did NOT go smoothly. Course we came back at 10 am (like idiots, not sure what we were expecting) but put the bags in storage along with a hundred bucks in groceries.. came back from Typhoon L at 530 and the rooms still weren't ready.. by the time we got to our rooms, they did find our luggage, but lost the groceries. When we did finally find them, of course the perishables were not refrigerated as asked (even had them in different colored bags so bell services could distinguish them).. Long story to short.. Sunday checkins are probably the most popular, try arrive late, or better yet, arrive on Monday.
And, welcome home... there is nothing like it!
