What to do at Disney when it RAINS ???????????????????????????????????

How about my favorite...shop, shop, shop til you drop!!! Head off to the Outlets, visit sites in Orlando...sounds like you get the idea about the parks but are looking for other Orlando ideas too. Anyone very versed in this area? I am afraid the outlets are my rainy day relief :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good Luck!!!

I love the optimism (what a surprise on the happiest place on Earth) but...

I'm still looking for a list of things that are perfect for a rainy day. ...

I got my poncho, tennis shoes and now I need a list of things to plan my rainy weekend in Orlando....

Whats the best bet when it rains ?????
Indoors - What people are trying to tell you is that rain doesn't slow them down in the theme parks. Other than a few outdoor rides like Dumbo or Test Track, everything is under cover, and the only time you'll chance getting wet is in transit between attractions. You could spend time waiting in (a covered) line for Buzz Lightyear, walk quickly across to the entrance of Carousel of Progress, walk quickly back to Timekeeper, take a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, and hardly feel a raindrop. Those two quick walks shouldn't get you wet if you have on a raincoat and a poncho. The same scenario is true at many of the parks - wait in line for Little Mermaid, dash across to see Great Movie Ride, then See One man's Dream, all in the same small area at MGM. Each of these scenarioas should take a couple of hours, by which time all but the most torrential downpour will have passed.

If you insist on staying completely indoors when rain is forecast, then do the same things you would do at home. Go to a movie at DTD, visit a theme restaurant like Rainforest Cafe, or shop anywhere in Orlando. But I will mention that if your trip is planned for anytime in the next six months, it will likely rain EVERY DAY at some point. If you are this freaked out by rain, I'd consider another kind of vacation. And there's nothing in Orlando that would entice me away from the Disney parks - if I wanted to see those kinds of attractions I'd choose another vacation.

You're not listening.

ANYTHING YOU CAN DO IN THE SUNSHINE YOU CAN DO IN THE RAIN!!!

If you're looking for other things in Orlando to do, then ask that. But please stop asking WHAT CAN I DO IN THE RAIN? We've answered that.

This person just joined yesterday and posted this same question 13 times on different boards here on the DIS. Must be really important to them.

Are you looking for suggestions outside the parks...in Orlando? Your original post asks about Disney, but your second post asks about Orlando. Are you in a position to leave WDW and venture out into Orlando? If that is the case, I think we can come with some ideas for you, or point you in the direction you need.:-)

While I have to admit I am a bit annoyed by your every three minute requests to tell you what to do in the RAIN (yeah, we got that part) I am going to specifically address Epcot for you.

Living Seas--indoor pavilion, if you are somewhere else, run fast because all of Epcot is quite spread out.

The Land--same thing

Innoventions--same thing

Mission: Space--line is indoors

Each country has some indoor area.

Outside of WDW you could go to the Belz Outlet malls, you could drive around town and see the fun stuff, you could go to that Million dollar mall or whatever it is called, you could check the weather on the coasts and go to the beach if either one is going to be nice.

in short, Get Wet. It rains a lot in FL.

I'd recommend cancelling your trip. No use wasting your time in the RAIN. RAIN RAIN RAIN.

I agree with the poncho idea-you planned too hard and too long to sit in the room. However...here are some things to try besides running in the parks in the rain:
Visit the different hotels. My family and I make a habit of getting on the monerail and riding it to the Contemporary-there we like to stroll around the hotel and look at the different shops inside and do some shopping, even though we've been there several times, there's always something new to look at and buy in the stores. From there, we do the same thing with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian Hotels-shopping, walking around them, etc. Also, if you don't mind the buses, hop on a bus heading to a different hotel other than the one you're staying at from the park, and explore that hotel.
Try Downtown Disney. A bus can get you there, and there's a heck-a lot to do. There's always shopping, and lots to eat, so you can enjoy a meal, and then you can head over to Disney Quest-that's where you can take an art class and learn to draw Donald Duck, and design and ride your own rollercoaster.
If you are still gung-ho about going to the parks, but want to try and stay out of the rain-there's always shopping in the Magic Kingdom down Main Street USA. A little known, or little realized fact, to most first-timers is that most of the stores on Main Street connect to one another, so you can get down the street a fair distance without ever having to set foot outside in the rain.
If you should decide to forge the rapids and set out in a poncho or opt to stay indoors and get the souvenir shopping done, either way, make the most of your trip and enjoy it! Just stay away from the large Minnie/Mickey shaped balloons. If you buy one and it gets rained on-the paint on it WILL CHIP OFF and get all over you. That's from a personal Disney in the Rain experience. :umbrella:
