We were arriving in Oct at 720 am, but now our flight changed to arrive in orlando at 535 am. will ME be open at that time? Will they be able to get our bags for us, or will we need to get them and wait for them to open or ?

1) Make sure they have your flight information.
2) Make sure the yellow tags are on your bags.
3) DME runs 24/7

thats sounds good, our flight # didnt change, just the arrival time, but i thought they didnt pick up bags from certain times of the night/day, or did they change that? ive never been in so early or late to have to worry about it, but wasnt sure if 535 am was too early or not?

For arrivals after 10 PM everyone has to pick up their bags from the carousel, yellow tagged or not.

For arrivals after dawn (or even slighty before the sun shows its face) Magical Express bag delivery is in effect, yellow tagged or not.

In April I flew down to Orlando on Southwest. Our 8:30 PM departure was delayed until 12:30 am by a line of severe thunderstorms. Our flight landed at 3 am and all the magic express people were told to call a taxi according to the people on the airport tram with me.

You can use Disney's Magical Express transportation regardless of when your flight arrives.

You are arriving within the hours that the luggage delivery service is offered. Per Disney, "Luggage delivery service provided by Disney's Magical Express is available for flights arriving between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm daily."

When you arrive at your Disney resort early in the morning, it's unlikely the front desk will have a room for you. But you can check in, get your WDW resort IDs, and go have fun. The front desk can text you with your room number when your room is ready. You can then go directly to your room. Bell services will deliver your bags to your room even if you're not there.

For more details about Magical Express, read Disney's official description of "Complimentary Airport Transportation Service - Disney's Magical Express Transportation" here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/planning-guides/in-depth-advice/airport-service/

I hope Disney paid for the taxis. That happened to me one time when I landed in Burbank, I called for the free hotel shuttle to the Glendale Hilton. They said to catch a cab and they would take care of it. When I got to the hotel, the driver went in to the front desk and got reimbursed.

What airport tram? If you were just on the airport "monorail", who had told them this and how? I don't doubt you, but I doubt the people who were talking to you. :)

That kind of doesn't make sense.:confused3 The airport tram is after security. It brings you from your gate to the main part of the terminal. ME people are no where near this point. If people had just left WDW via ME, they don't interact with the people at the ME desk. People who have just arrived would not have any contact with ME people at this point. (They have to leave the secured area and go to the corner of the airport where the ME buses leave.)

I assume they were on the tram from the gates to the main terminal. Maybe someone called Disney when they knew they would be arriving in the middle of the night.

There have been reports of guests arriving late at night/very early morning and been put in cabs. But those cabs were paid for by Disney/DME. I have no issue with them not wanting to put a bus into service for just one family. I would have thought a van would have been brought in but perhaps none were available.

I haven't seen it but it's been reported that sometimes in the wee hours the Magical Express welcoming area is unmanned and there is a sign with a number to call to get instructions. I would not be surprised if one set of instructions goes "call a taxi."

I say you should not take the word of another passenger regarding DME while riding the airport tram. Instead, go to the welcoming area to find out what to do next. Procedures could vary from one night to the next. Notably you might be told to specifically wait for a Yellow or Checker or other Mears operated taxi. (Mears operates DME.)

We had a delay once making arrival around 2 am. DME folks were there, they put us on a bus making it a total of five people, we waited, it then took us to ASMu where they had a room waiting and a bed. It did kinda bug the eco-friendly part of me (after flying does that make sense?) that they used a whole bus for what should have been a car or van situation. I was also just grateful just to get there.

While they may have updated that to make it less wasteful I still expect that they will support guests regardless of the time.
