My daughter and I made up t-shirts for our trip and it was also my birthday too So, I did the t-shirt that had Mickey Mouse popping out of the WDW map, saying "It's my birthday and all I want is the World!".
I had locked my key in my room and had to go down to the front desk to get a replacement and the front desk clerk must have noticed my shirt. When I got back to my room I got a magical moment certificate and some balloons with a card from Mickey Mouse.

Also, when we got to LTT the table was decorated with streamers and the waiters sang Happy Birthday to me and I got a birthday cupcake

I had my 40th birthday dinner at Ohana. I got a cupcake with a candle in it, lots of singing and plenty of extra paper drink umbrellas which wound up in my hair.

My 38th, however, was the day I was checking into Polynesian concierge and while my friends and I were down at the concierge desk fixing our messed up PS schedule, they delivered a Mickey Mouse cake, balloons, a card and a certificate to our room. At the MK I was given a phone call from Goofy and a backdoor pass for the Haunted Mansion while picking up my birthday button at City Hall. That's the most stuff I ever got for a birthday.

I'm doing my 42nd at Raglan Road on the dining plan and I plan to have too many Smithwicks to care about whether or not I get a cupcake.

My FDH and I got engaged at the Cali. Grill last August-it was a total surprise to me and FDH didn't do anything ahead of time to alert them. Our waiter saw the poor guy on one knee and my tears, Next thing I know, he brought over champange and pixie dust and a special dessert. A perfect end to a perfect night.

I think that if you are traveling with someone celebarting an event that you should tell everyone around you and also bring some laytex balloons just incase tinker bell is busy with other people's events. That way with your cards, gifts, and merriment your special person will feel very special.

We were seriously dusted on our honeymoon, everywhere except our hotel. It's funny, that's the only place where I thought we might get a wee tiny extra. Everywhere else was magical! Little things like the pixie dust in CRT, champagne at AP, kissing for our supper at WCC, and well lots of congrats everywhere. We were there during the AK previews and were their first honeymooners (at least that they could recognize by ear-sight).

The best little extra was the CM who took us from the parade at MGM over to Beauty and the Beast for VIP seating.

I gotta keep reminding myself that "dust happens" and stop wishing so hard for dust on my dad's retirement trip.

We had lots of pixie dust on my son's B-Day trip in Aug 05.
All of the character dinner's we had, decorated the table sang to him and made a fuss over him! They were all special (his fave HDDR not character but they asked for b-day's he said it was his and he loved it)

But the best thing was, when we were walking from dinner at Crystal Place to ride Space Mountain (great combo I know) we had a CM stop us (we had matching shirts stating "if you need me I will celebrating Hunter's B-day in WDW) well he wanted to know where was Hunter, we got him and the CM had everyone around us stop and sing Happy Birthday to one very happy (and slightly embarassed) 6 year old!
It was magic at its best!

We have had a few magical moments during celebrations....we celebrated my DDs 2nd and 4th birthdays in WDW and they had cupcakes and cards signed by the characters at CP, LTT and CRT both times. At 1900 Park Faire, at dinner for their 4th birthday, my DH and I had ordered them each a miniature cake with white chocolate castles on top (worth every penny to see the looks on their faces when the cakes came out and the CM had the entire restaurant sing to them!) They were also given special birthday placemats signed by the characters that were there, and little sparkly tiaras! It was much more than we had expected. Also for their 2nd birthday, when we were leaving CRT, the Fantasyland Band was playing outside. They saw the girls wearing their birthday buttons and started playing "Happy Birthday" and gathering people around to help sing! Then they gave the girls buttons that said "Honorary Member of the Fantasyland Band"! That was TOTALLY a result of being in the right place at the right time!

I just thought of something else......During our last trip in Dec., my brother and his girlfriend got engaged (at MVMCP during Wishes, very sweet!). Anyway, the next day, we were having dinner in the 50s Prime Time and I quietly mentioned the engagement to our CM, aptly named "Pip". After we ate, he brought out a large cupcake without a candle. He loudly announced, "Brian and Brigitte just got engaged last night, and since they won't be inviting any of us to the wedding.....they will have to feed each other this cupcake for our enjoyment!". It was hysterical , especially since they are not the types that enjoy lots of attention! After they fed each other the cupcake (I got great pics!!!), the whole place stood up and clapped!

My DH and I have been incredibly fortunate--we tend to go in June, which coincides with my DH's birthday and our anniversary. We always mention both occasions, but we never expect anything; that way, if we are rewarded with kind words (or even a gift), it's a wonderful surprise! We wear the birthday/Magical Moments buttons, and that usually sparks people to wish us well. DH once received a free Conga drink from a restaurant near the Mexico pavilion. We had his birthday dinner at Rose and Crown twice, and the waiter brought him a free English Trifle! And on our last trip, our POFQ room was upgraded to a corner room (nice to have windows all around!). That night, we went to CRT for our anniversary dinner, but we hadn't mentioned it to anyone there. Just a nice, quiet, special dinner. We had a wonderful server, and we wished to put in a good word for him at Guest Relations. As we were leaving, my DH went to him and mentioned very casually that this was our 4th anniversary and that he had made it very special for us. He asked my DH to wait, then returned with a box and said, "Compliments of His Majesty." My DH and I walked out to get our spot for the parade, and when we opened the box, two lovely etched champagne flutes were there! We were so touched, and immediately went back to CRT to tell the manager how wonderful he was.

On the last night of that same trip, we had dinner at Boma. When we initially made our reservation, we'd mentioned that we were on our anniversary, but I don't believe that we mentioned it to Disney Dining. (Could be wrong.) At any rate, when we sat down at our table, our waitress presented us with a card that said "Happy Anniversary" on the inside, and it was signed by the staff there with well-wishes in their home language. We were so touched! We have it framed in our house...such a special gift. We were headed to the dessert table, and our waitress told us not to fill up too much, because the chef had a surprise for us. She soon brought out a plate drizzled with chocolate with cookies arranged around it. How sweet! We'll be going again this summer, and we'll have a magical anniversary even if no one says a thing to us...but if anyone cares to celebrate it with us, we'll always be truly thankful!

So we just got back this week from my birthday trip, and here's what they did for us! The trip consisted of two different groups of family - My mom, sister, and niece (Abby was having her 5th birthday too), and DH and me. Mom, Amy and Abby came before us, so we only had a couple meals that overlapped, then it was just me and DH.

CRT Breakfast - all 5 of us ate here. They made a nice little fuss over us here. The tables were decorated with mickey confetti and streamers. Abby and I both got a magical moments certificate and pen for the princesses to sign for us and an individual birthday cake.

1900 Park Fare - all 5 of us were here. Mom told the CM checking us in who wrote it on the paper for the waitress. We had a terrible waitress that didn't come to our table more than 2 times during the meal, and she did nothing for the birthdays. No big deal.

LeCellier - now it's just DH and me for the rest of the trip. As we got our dessert sampler, they also brought out this HUGE free dessert for my birthday. It was a chocolate mousse thing in a dark chocolate bowl. So we had 4 desserts on our table. It was really yummy and nice of them, as we didn't even tell them about the birthday in reservations or checking in. The waitress just noticed my birthday pin. Really nice.

Donald's Breakfastosaurus - We noted it was my birthday on this reservation when we made it and the CMs checking us in saw my birthday button and made sure it was noted to our server. He was a great server and they sang the birthday song to me (and the table next to me that was having birthdays too). And I got a card signed by the characters.

April 3 - My actual birthday! We ate at Kona for breakfast and they didn't do anything special. But boy was it yummy!!

For dinner we ate at CRT again, and they put the mickey confetti on the table. That was it, but that's all I really wanted since I already got the birthday stuff at CRT a few days earlier.

Our last day before we left we had breakfast at Crystal Palace. We had noted on this reservation that it was my birthday as well. They had the table set with the mickey confetti and swirly streamers. Tigger noticed and got really excited about it for me. They also gave me a card signed by the characters -- really really cool! And a cupcake! It was nice.

It was such a special trip! It was really cool when they made it feel important, but not a big deal when they did nothing.

Okay - this is negative... We ate at Ohana for my DD's 2nd birthday. We ordered an 80.00 cake and made sure they knew we would like a window seat if possible. We could not be further away from a window, they waited forever to bring us our cake with little to no fanfare, and it just had no "magic" at all. I wasnt expecting circus tricks, but our waiter hardly even smiled. It made me a little sad.

We did Chef Mickey's for my sons 5th birthday last year and he got a chocolate cupcake which he loved. I'm sure this is standard practice, but to him it was just because he and Mickey are such good friends.

We were at MGM and a CM came up to him and asked him to be the "Prince of the Parade" and he got to walk behind the parade holding the rope and the wonderful CM gave him a "Prince" certificate when he got to the end.

When we returned to our room that night he was delighted to find his stuffed nite-nite bear holding a bouq uet of balloons and watching television. There was also a birthday card from Mickey Mouse beside his bear. He was so excited that Mickey took time from his busy day at the park to come by his room and deliver the gifts. That magical moment was priceless!


We are planning another trip on his 6th birthday and I'm sure no matter what events happen he will just be thrilled to be at Disney again.

When DH and I were on our honeymoon, we had dinner at CRT and mentioned to our server that we were on our honeymoon. He brought us a Certifiably Magical certificate and two etched champaigne flutes.
I didn't even know that they did things like that! I think that was the beginning of my real love for Disney World

As I posted in the OP, we know it is based often on the CM that you get. I just thought it would fun to see what kind of things people have experienced. I'm not being greedy and saying let's see what we can get, I'm just curious. WDW makes events so magical, I was interested to see examples from people on here.

I completely understood what you meant…..like restaurant pixie dust. It is fun to read about other peoples magic moments ….not necessarily saying they have to happen for you.

Glad to read the post about Crystal Palace. I just booked a dinner ressie for my dd's 4th Birthday ! And at that age birthdays are such a big deal. I'll be crushed if they don't give her a little extra attention! Anyway, they did ask her name when I made the reservation. Should I stick with the cupcake or order an actual cake? Anyone know if they make special cakes for birthdays (not just a boring rectangle cake)?

Also, just out of curiosity are the birthday buttons the same at every park?

We been pixie dusted a few times.
The first was when we checked in at the Concierge Lounge at the Boardwalk Inn my DH taked with one of the CM's about having a special bottle of wine delivered to the room to start the special night. We got back from the park and there was a tray set up and a note that the wine was in the fridge, compliments of the concierge staff (my DH told her to charge the room) we also had strawberries in the fridge. After enjoying the wine and jacuzzi tub we went to Shula's where my now DH proposed. The waitstaff brought us a complimentary creme brulee (my favorite) for dessert.

Last year for our anniversary the concierge staff at the Polynesian left us a card, baloons and chocolates.
