First let me start by saying I have never ever expected anything for free and what happened with my trip was a total surprise. It was my parent's 40th wedding anniversary and I contacted the California Grill to arrange for a special cake, they put me in touch with private dining and I ordered a medium sized white chocolate celebration cake which they would ice with a special greeting specified by myself, I gave my credit card details and they said they would take payment, they never did - our server brought the cake up with some candles all lit up and wished them happy anniversary, but no payment was ever taken. The second thing I did was arrange for a 'surprise' at the Yachtsman, again I gave my credit card details and asked them to charge my card - we were treated like royalty that night and when we came to order desert they brought up a white chocolate mickey on the desert sampler, the plate was iced with the words 'Happy 40th Anniversary' - they didn't take any form of payment, even though I insisted they did. Such a nice gesture by both restaurants and totally unexpected.
