What snacks do you take?

My family went 11/29-12/6/06, 7 nights. DH,DS10, DD7 and me. Ordered snack foods, cereal, milk and bottled water from Garden Grocer. We were on the DDP.

Next time I will bring a few boxes of cereal and buy milk at the resort store. We only used 2 bottles of water. We needed none of the snacks at the room. Had leftover desserts and snack credits to supplement the 1TS and 1CS meal per day. You may want to choose cereal that can be packed in a ziploc bag as a snack, like Kix or Cheerios. Also, be sure to pack enough bowls and plastic spoons if you plan on eating in the room. We found by eating breakfast in the room, we were able to get to the parks much earlier and beat the crowds.

Enjoy your trip. :thumbsup2

Thanks all! I appreciate the input.

I think I'll go light. We do drink alot of water so I'll order that through Staples. I'll stop packing snacks. So far, I have pop tarts, fruit snacks, cereal, cheese crackers and the kool-aid packets for water bottles. It sounds like they won't be starving on the DDP plan. :teeth:

I was going to order fresh fruit from garden grocer, but I don't think that will be necessary. I just really don't like paying $1.00 for ONE banana. :sad2:

Ever since we started using the Dining Plan (done it the last 2 trips), we don't bring ANY snacks. None. I love it!! It is so much easier to plan/pack when I don't have to worry about bringing any food or drinks.

For our last 2 trips (8 or 9 days each), we only ate what we got with the Dining Plan & we still had WAY TOO much.

For breakfast I would always have instant oatmeal (Quaker makes a kind that comes in a cup, kinda like Cup O Noodles) and those little individual servings of fruit cups - mandarin oranges, yum.
Also we always take lots of granola bars and trail mix.

For our trip last May, we packed a lot of food. We were on the DDP. The stuff we ate was the little cereal boxes (bought the milk at the Poly store and kept it in the room fridge) and cereal bars for breakfasts. I agree that we seemed to get to the parks faster by eating breakfast in the room. We did one breakfast character meal and not only did we have to wait a really long time to be seated (CM's) but we spent so much time there waiting for the characters to come by. We had also packed packets of goldfish crackers and packets of cookies. Truthfully, we really didn't eat much of this stuff and ended up bringing it all home. Even my DS2 was stuffed by sharing our DDP meals and snacks. He also always got his own beverage at TS places (apple juice or milk) which we would just pour into his sippy cup and take with us.
This February, we are going to WDW again and I am attending a conference so the room is at a conference rate so we are not eligible for the DDP. We will still eat breakfasts in the room with our little cereal boxes and cereal bars and pay OOP for CS/TS meals. We will take along all those snacks we didn't use in May!

Where do you find what snacks are available on the ddp? Thanx and Merry Christmas everyone

35 days to go ..woooooohoooooo

my 52 yr old( husband ;) ) always feels like he might give out from hunger mid morning ( not much of a chance but.....)so since we travel light i pack a box of granola bars and he puts one in his pocket...is plenty to help tide him over if we have a long time till a meal, not messy and doesn't make him overly thirsty. no matter what i take other than that i bring it home and by then it's stale so what's the point of taking it in the first place :teeth:

This past May my family and I were at WDW. We ordered breakfast items (bagels, cream cheese, milk, cereal, and juice) and we also ordered snacks (gummi snacks for the girls, pretzels, water, cookies, and granola bars). Between what we ordered to the room and the DDP we were never hungry! :thumbsup2

Fruit roll-ups pack easy and you don't have to worry about them getting smashed.

We went in October with a 3 year old and 10 year old niece...we brought cereal and bought milk at the gift shop to keep in the room, they are up very early and want to eat the minute their eyes open.

We brought a lot of gummies, the kind you get in the grocery store that are made with fruit juice. Individual bags of pretzels, Goldfish crackers and lollypops.

The girls did not ask for anything that the carts sold, no ice cream, no popcorn...they were happy with the snacks I brought from home...I am glad I brought a lot with me...if I found a fussy kid in line I gave them a lollypop and the moms/dads were very grateful!

I bring pop tarts and cerea; bars for breakfast, sandwich fixings for lunch, I also pack animal crackers, etc for munching while we are in line....

I'm trying to plan what food I'm going to need to have delivered to my room for our trip in March. There are 3 of us, for 8 nights, staying at CBR, and we are on the dining plan. I'm trying to figure out what kind of snacks/breakfast items we'll need and how much, mainly in the room. I'll definately order water, but other stuff I'm thinking about is cereal, chips, breakfast bars, donuts. Any suggestions?
You don't mention the ages of those in your group. I would assume some are children. I've never been on the DP, so we always take snacks and always water. It's nice to have the snacks available. If you don't have ADR for every meal, you may have some waiting. It's nice to have a little something if you are starving and having to wait 45 minutes for a TS. I have to have water w/ me. I normally refill my water bottles when I get back to my room ( leaving a little air space in each bottle. Then I pop them into the freezer. Wrap them in a hand towel before placing them in your backpack. By noon, they have melted enough that you have some ice cold water. It's always a treat on those extremely hot days. I'm diabetic and tend to find most of the snacks available on property to be loaded with either sugar or fat. We like to take things like trail mix, fresh fruit, nuts, and jerky as snacks. You can find some fresh fruit in the parks, and it seems that the trend for Disney is to start offering more healthy snacks. I wish they would offer both as everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If you've read any of the postings about the new kids meals on the Restaurant forums, it seems most people are having a fit. It's nice that Disney wants to offer more healthy meals, but most children are not going to touch most of that funky stuff they are offering. As most parents have said, their kids eat healthy at home and they don't expect them to have to on vacation. It seems that the Disney standard for kids is pizza, chicken strips, mac and cheese, or a burger. Believe it or not, most kids would eat a nice fruit salad or pasta w/ red sauce. I'm glad I don't have to eat off the kids menu. Sorry, a little off topic; just venting. Anyways, take a few snacks and definitely some water. You don't need alot since you have the DP. Have fun.
