What snacks do you take?

I'm trying to plan what food I'm going to need to have delivered to my room for our trip in March. There are 3 of us, for 8 nights, staying at CBR, and we are on the dining plan. I'm trying to figure out what kind of snacks/breakfast items we'll need and how much, mainly in the room. I'll definately order water, but other stuff I'm thinking about is cereal, chips, breakfast bars, donuts. Any suggestions?

My family of four has been to Walt Disney World eleven times over the last nine years. This past June was our first time to stay on Disney property. We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and we were on the dining plan.

I was so used to taking snack items with us that I packed them for our June trip too. I packed Pringles (won't get crushed 'cause they are in a can), M&M's ('cause the melt in your mouth, not in your hand), fruit snacks, Ritz crackers (save an old Pringles can and slide the crackers down in them), assorted single size candies (peppermints, cinnamon disks, jolly ranchers, etc), gum, water, canned sodas and little cans of juice. I also took along the small packets of instant teas and gatorade mixes. These are the kind that you just pour into a bottle of water and it makes the drinks.

We arrived at the CBR with a whole tote bag of snacks and drinks. We left the CBR, after a ten day stay, with a half full tote bag of snacks. The food court at the CBR had fresh fruit, cereals, drinks and snacks galore. We also used our snack options in the parks. We really didn't need the snacks that we brought with us. When we ate at the food court, we brought back our uneaten desserts or fruits and put them in the fridge. We ate those as our "late night" snacks.

We did use most of the drinks that we brought with us 'cause we didn't want to go down to the food court at night and there was no reason to purchase drinks when we had them.

If you want a very detailed description of the CBR (room furnishings, food court, store, marina, resort buses, etc.), please let me know and I'll get it right out to you. Thanks, Lisa

We made a grocery stop on the way from the airport and picked up cereal, peanut butter, bread, and a bunch of other stuff. But we didn't use any of it!

On the dining plan, you can use a snack credit to get a little box of cereal and a milk (just one credit for both!). There are plenty of bananas, apples, and so on available, too. And of course the mugs are great - unlimited quantities of water, soda, cocoa, and coffee at your resort!

With all the food you get on the plan for lunch and dinner, we just didn't need much else. DW and I shared a Dole Whip at MK, a vanilla soft serve at AK, a bag of chips at MGM, and a pastry at Epcot. That's all the snacks we had during our 8 night stay.

We ended up leaving the food we bought at the grocery store behind uneaten, because there was just no room in our luggage with all the souvenirs we bought! ;)

Other than water, I can't think of anything I'd buy off Disney property on my next trip if I was on the dining plan again.

Going in Feb. Wondering the same thing. :teeth:

I already have the food/snacks bought/packed, but hey, if I don't need them..why bring them? :confused3

I have a 2 year old and 11 year old. I'm worried they might want snacks....

Your 11 year old will be way too busy for snacks. Your 2 year old, however, can be endlessly entertained with a little bit of food. When we're in the parks, I pack pretzels and craisins for my 2yo.

As much as you think you will want snacks, you'll probably be surprised by how little of them you'll eat. Don't overdo on the snack packing. There are places as the resorts and in the parks that you can get fresh fruit or other types of snacks for reasonable prices.

Have a great trip!

we were at the CBR in October (see the link below for my trip report and photos!) In our room we had a jar of peanut butter, packets of jelly from the McDonalds at the airport ( :teeth: ) loaf of bread, bagels and cream cheese, pudding cups, fresh fruit, string cheese, cereal, breakfast bars, packets of oatmeal. Meals at the food court were generously sized. We made good use of our refillable mugs. The kids figured out to put ice in the hot cocoa to make "chocolate milk"....haha, whatever! For a 5 and 7 year old, it did the trick.

We take stuff for my daughter like fruit snacks, but that is pretty much it.

My boyfriend and I were down for two amazing weeks and haven't been home long. We were on the dining plan for 10 of the 15 nights and ordered from

http://www.gardengrocer.com/ whom provided us with wonderful service for a small fee of 10 dollars :thumbsup2 . I ordered 6 cases of water (yes..way to much!) plus 2 bags of bagels. Other things too but that's all that was edible drinkable. Oh yeah and 2 bottles of Hazelnut non dairy creamer. The bagels did the trick in the morning and after that we didn't need anymore food from "home". During the 5 days non dining plan we could have had a few more bagels with us but just treated ourselves to whatever we wanted to eat and bought our treats in the parks. After 10 days we were almost, just almost...tired of all the good stuff like cake and ice cream two or three times a day :teeth: !

My 2 cents worth...You will not need much of nothing. We went in June and had the DDP. We ate so much it was not funny. Alot of times we were using the CS meal for breakfast then use the snack for just an afternoon boost and then a HUGE dinner. Very seldom did want want anything aside from the plan. If you are planning to eat breakfast in your room everyday or something or if you all like late night snacks I would plan to go light.

We brought pop tarts and bread and took our toaster with us. We got butter packets from the food court for free (they were out so you could take as much as you need) and crackers.

Also remember on the plan you can get a big bag of chips or a full box of donuts in the food court at the Pop for one snack credit. There is a full list of all the approved snacks on the Restaurant board if you are curious but it's basically almost anything which cost's 4 dollars or less :thumbsup2 .

Frankly, if I were you, I wouldn't even bring/buy the water! Bring a refillable sport cup. Water is free at all counter service places. We were there in August on the DDP and we bought NOTHING extra and still had snack credits left! As someone else mentioned - the meals are so much food that we always saved our desserts for later and then we never ate all our snacks!

It was HOT in August but every park we went to, we just stopped at a counter service place and asked for a cup of water when we were thirsty. I had a refillable sports bottle that I dumped it into so that I wasn't carrying a mushy cup and with the ice, it lasted a long time. When it was gone, I stopped and asked for another!

Have a great trip! We'll be joining you on SATURDAY! :cheer2: Can't wait for Christmas in the World!!!

You really won't need to take much as the snack options for DP continue to expand, you can get almost everything you'd ever want. We are light breakfast eaters, so I pack some PB & J and some bagels. My son likes oatmeal, so I take some of those flavored packets and use the coffee maker to heat the water. I also pack disposable bowls, flatware and napkins. I pack cheese sticks, apples and goldfish crackers for the parks. We never go hungry.

You might need to take a few things for your 2 year old. When I went with a 2 year old last year, I did take snacks into the parks so that I would always have something if she asked for it. Now that the DP snack options have expanded you won't have to worry about finding something for him/her. But, if you are in line for a ride and (s)he asks for something - it's much better to be able to dig in your bag and grab some fruit snacks or whatever...

Yes, I agree, and for when you're waiting for your meal at a TS restaurant. For times like that, we had either cheerios or cheese/peanut butter crackers. Other than that, it was always easy to find a quick, healthy snack for the kids.
Oh - we also mostly did breakfast in the room - cereal (milk bought at CS in our resort) or instant oatmeal, usually with fruit bought at the resort. I just ran water through the coffee maker then used it for the instant oatmeal.

Crackers,M&M's,granola bars and small bags of chips.

When we went we weren't on the DP and we ate all our breakfast's in our room and then lunches were late so they did were lunch/dinner. We only brought for breakfast little boxes of cereal, oatmeal, pj, granola bars, and milk and then we bought bread and bagels at the walmart in Kissimee. For snacks we brought cookies, fruit snacks, crackers, pretzels and bananas and apples (with the stickers on to get them across the border). We brought alot back and it was a waste. The next time we went I brought less and it was much better. I found that we didn't eat as much as we did when we were at home. I also brought 2 cases of water due to I had heard the price of the water in WDW. This time in March we will be on the DP and am only bring cereal and pj and bagels and bread and milk and case of water. We like breakfast and a muffin will not due for my husband but me and the kids will be fine with that. But we all like the mickey rice krispies and the DOLE WHIPS so I know the snacks will all go to that

I have to agree about the dining plan and not wanting snacks. We went during the free DDP promotion in August and were stuffed the vast majority of the day. Even my DS7, the chow hound, wasn't asking for his normal amount. Conversely, DH and DS went down today with a childs size carry on suitcase STUFFED with snacks...we're not getting the dining plan on this trip and the nicer weather definitely promotes the munchies in my family.

Capri Suns or box drinks w/ straw for toddler (and older one, if anything like mine;) ). Water, with the packets of kool-aid or tea or whatever you like for xtra beverages. Maybe some bagels or cereal/milk or whatever your preference is for a light breakfast, especially for toddler. Finger food for toddler in park. Animal crackers are good, or cheerios. Anything that won't melt or make a mess. You will pretty much otherwise be stuffed on the DP.
